    EVOLUTION WORKS!
Evolution is on going, in fact it is happening right now with humans in a big way. There is a great peril on our planet from man made toxic chemicals. We are literally killing the planet. Those that do not recognize this concept of a living earth as something to cherish and protect continue to poison the planet and themselves. The good news is that those of us who are concerned about chemical exposures can lead an organic lifestyle limiting their exposure to these toxins. The result is healthier and brighter children. Thus evolution works! Tor McPartland / Orange Guard, Inc.

    HARMONY

The thought of harmony brings joy. Harmonies in song make the sound more full and rich, but for our society to live in harmony has always been an impossible, unobtainable nirvana. HUMAN RACE, wake up. Harmony is not only possible it is essential for the continued existence of life on planet earth.

    Intolerance is intolerable.

To make a system, such as an engine or a society sustainable, all parts have to be in balance and they all need proper lubrication, they must work in harmony. If we apply this to our lives we see that we are nowhere near achieving harmony. Not with each other, or with our planet.

Harmony with the environment can be achieved, organic food is a good example, where by naturally nourishing the soil, all the parts then work together to form a harmony. Renewable energy and hydrogen harmonize well with the planet.

If we all tried to live in harmony not just with the environment but with each other we may set off a harmonic that could bring on an age like we've never imagined. Where everyone makes at least a living wage and are proud of the work that they do. Imagine all the new customers there would be.

A main cause of misery on this planet is greed. If the mantra of our society was in the harmony of existence, where the arts were as important as the dollars and profits and wages were fair, what a far better place this would be than that of Corporate America today with their greedy take as much as they can get philosophy, with no care for achieving any kind of balance.

Wake up and feel the harmony around you, listen to it and then add to it. Unprovoked acts of kindness, or add beauty by planting gardens and trees, or through art and the arts, please eat and support organic, empower the planet and above all vote out greed before you can't.

Harmony is not about power it will empower, it is not a revolution it is an evolution, so become a ''harmonist'' and bring joy and beauty to the world around you.

    PHILOSOPHY

We all have ant problems from time to time, I know I really did when I moved into my passive solar earth bermed home in Carmel Valley in 1983. I wouldn't use toxic insecticides because I was an organic type person. Then I read in Science News where someone had killed fire ants by pouring a citrus hand cleaner on them. Light bulbs went off. Now if I could take the orange peel oil and mix it with water maybe I could solve my ant problem. Alas, orange peel oil was insoluble in water. That is when research told me that most common emulsifiers, which are considered inert ingredients, can be really nasty.

My goal was an all natural food grade water based solution for my ant problem. Thus Orange Guard was born, out of my own necessity. Then I noticed that not only did it kill the ants but they did not come back, way cool. I had combined ingredients all found on the FDA GRAS list (generally recognized as safe) and water and this was an extremely effective insecticide without endangering kids, pets, lizards, birds or the environment. In fact you have to get to know those bugs personally and target them directly to kill them. Otherwise all it did was repel them. So no need to kill your friends (good bugs) to control an insect problem or leave a toxic bait which might be picked up and sucked on by a child (arsenic is a common ingredient in ant baits).

Toxic chemical insecticides do not repel insects either, they are just residually toxic (long term kill) which is often how they also affect you and your family. When they go into your body they lodge in the fat and don't come back out. Imagine your body as a tea cup and every chemical exposure fills it up. When the cup runneth over with toxins you become sick and most probably will not know why. Thus Orange Guard just isn't another widget, it is a tool which can allow us to solve one problem (bugs) without ruining the environment or making your home into a toxic waste dump.

If you have never tried Orange Guard then you should. If you are a believer in chemicals then your days are numbered. How full is your cup and when will it spill over? Children are far more susceptible to chemicals than adults, chronic exposure at even low levels can cause neurobehavioral problems which may be permanent. So avoiding chemical exposures is obvious and Orange Guard is the solution solution.

We are still learning all the ways that it can work effectively. What we know is Orange Guard dissolves the waxy coating on an insects exoskeleton clogging the spiracles (how they breath) and they suffocate. This is broad range both as an insecticide and a repellent. Pretty much if there is an insecticide spray Orange Guard in some dilution can solve the problem. At a 4 parts water 1 part Orange Guard dilution it is devastating to aphids, spider mites and other plant sucking and or eating bugs, nearly 100% effective. At full strength after 7 days Orange Guard is still 65% effective as a fly repellent. Orange Guard at full strength was more effective on German Cockroaches than a recently banned organo-phosphate toxic insecticide (although it is still allowed in agriculture) at all stages of a 30 day study in Texas public housing. In fact if your kids eat organic food they are 1/6 as exposed to organo-phosphate breakdown toxic chemicals in their blood and urine than if they eat conventionally grown fruits and vegetables. So my message is, wake up and smell the Orange Guard.

The main ingredient in Orange Guard is d-limonene mixed with inert ingredients.
You can easily make your own mixture :)

The only microscopic evidence of compound-related toxicity noted in the rats was nephropathy in the males. d-Limonene is one of a diverse group of hydrocarbons that has been shown to induce a unique syndrome of nephropathy in male rats following subchronic or chronic exposure. Based on a review of the literature concerning this effect (U.S. EPA, 1991), EPA's Risk Assessment Forum concluded that nephropathy in male rats that is associated with alpha- 2u-globulin accumulation in hyaline droplets is not an appropriate endpoint to determine noncancer effects potentially occurring in humans.

Female mice exposed to 1000 mg/kg/day d-limonene exhibited 5-15% lower mean body weights than their respective vehicle controls after week 28 of the study. No compound-related clinical signs of toxicity were noted in either sex. An increased incidence of multinucleated hepatocytes and cytomegaly was observed in the high-dose male mice but not in female mice. Based on the occurrence of these liver lesions, a NOAEL of 250 mg/kg/day and a LOAEL of 500 mg/kg/day can be estimated from this study in mice.

Nephrotoxicity, consisting of granular casts characteristic of alpha-2u- globulin-mediated nephropathy, was observed in male Sprague-Dawley rats administered 277, 554, or 1385 mg/kg/day d-limonene daily by gavage in 1% Tween 80 for 6 months (Tsuji et al., 1975). These lesions were not observed in the female rats similarly exposed.

The developmental toxicity of d-limonene has been investigated in mice and rabbits. In the mouse study, 15 pregnant ICR mice/group were administered 0, 591, or 2363 mg/kg/day d-limonene by gavage on gestation days 7-12 (Kodama et al., 1977a). Maternal toxicity (significant reduction in body weight) and developmental toxicity (significant increase in the number of fetuses with skeletal abnormalities, including lumbar ribs, fused ribs, and delayed ossification of several bones in the paws) were observed in the animals administered 2363 mg/kg/day. No maternal or fetal effects were observed at the low dose. This study is limited in that an inadequate number of animals was used, only two doses were tested, and dosing did not continue throughout the entire period of organogenesis.

In the rabbit study, 10-18 pregnant Japanese white rabbits were administered 0, 250, 500, or 1000 mg/kg/day d-limonene by gavage on gestation days 6-18 (Kodama et al., 1977b). Exposure of does to 500 or 1000 mg/kg/day resulted in maternal toxicity. There were significant reductions in food consumption and body weight at both doses, and death also occurred in the 1000-mg/kg/day group. Developmental toxicity was not observed at any dose. This study is limited by the small sample size.

No reproductive toxicity studies have been conducted on d-limonene. Igimi et al. (1974) studied the metabolism of d-limonene after oral administration and found that about 65% of the dose was recovered in urine, feces, and expired carbon dioxide, suggesting that the majority of an oral dose is absorbed. Although it is possible that an inhaled dose would also be largely absorbed, there is no information on inhalation exposures.
