Hey, Everybody!
Thanks for helping me teach every one
in America and around the world
that Food Justice is more than about Just Food;
I have been listening in on the discussions all
day. Some of the members of the
2010 Cultivating Food Justice Committee are
making sense if only non-profits should be
in the program. At the same these non-profits
are dependent on the generous contributions of
both volunteers as well as those doing service
as businesses.
From my beet point of view, I am rooting
for all of them!
Each of the non-profits and businesses here
are dedicated to community service. If it were
not for the local, organic farmers who are listed here,
now of us would be eating.
There are numbers of groups here I am am
looking forward to meeting personally.

I have been spending time with members of
the AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT
OF SCIENCE (AAAS) I am part of the press corps.
I came in to this experience with a sense of urgency
about the state of GMO Foods. I was drawn in
to hear DR. ROBERT T. FRALEY,
Dr. Fraley oversees Monsanto's integrated crop a
nd seed agribusiness technology and research

The AAAS is a remarkable organization and this is its
146th meeting.
The Seed Dream I am planting now is to invite a healthy
dialogue between those who support Genetic Engineering
in its applications to seeds and farming, and those
who support organic food production and its lifestyle.
In Europe and many places around the world, there
has been a welcoming of GMO--Genetrically Modified Organisms
in food. This series of blogs began with a sense or urgency
for acceptance GMO Seeds and its crops cannot exist side by side
with organic seeds and its crops. Residues from GMO plants
infiltrate organic foods and they are no longer organically grown.

“I’m playing with the story of an actual beet
that decided she was tired of just sitting
in the ground, watching the human race
become more and more fragmented,
and the beet, whose name is Keep the Beet,
decided to speak up,” said Goldman,
also known to friends as The Enchanted Gardener.
Keep the Beet encourages people to make friends
with a local, organic farmer; purchase the largest beet
they can find and repot it, keeping it alive
as it sprouts billowing, edible green leaves.

May 31 was a fabulous success.
Members of e3, the environment,
business, and ethics club at nearby SDSU
were here! Among them former e3 past
Co-President ERICA JOHNSON, and current
incoming president ERIN LANNON.
ERICA is also outgoing Associated Students
Green Love Commissioner. GRANT AUSTIC MACK
the incoming Green Love Commissioner was also here,
as were numbers of other leaders making an impact
through the statewide STUDENT SUSTAINABILITY COALITION.
HOLLY HELLERSTEDT, was the first SDSU e3 to visit the
ENCHANTED GARDEN INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY in
Early May. It was a boost. She is the new e3 VP and
travels to South America for a month this summer.
