    Chef Jem Writes!

Now all we need is a picture of you and Mickey! ;^)
That actually should be quite doable, just as long as you are willing to get finger printed
at the front gate. I believe this is now part of the entrance requirement
into the "Magic Kingdom". Please go and send me pictures ...
because I'm not giving them my paw prints!

    Dear Chef Jem,
I already have a picture of me and Mickey Mouse
and a signed note from the head Mouse himself!

I am out of touch with the photo right now.

    Here is the Story:

Years ago, I met a lovely gardener at the Farmers' Market.
He was a friend of my friend John Myers,
the source of my Buffalo Dung.
    John moved to Northern Cal.
I haven't heard from him since.
He grew winter squash, some of the finest
any biodynamic gardener would die for.

He had this friend who worked at the other Amusement Park,
the sister to Disneyland, across the path, or parking lot.
I forget the park's name in the moment.

I was met at the gate by my friend, who was one of the
near organic gardeners in charge of this lovely garden
that was called Bountiful Adventure, or something like that.

On the day I arrived, they were opening a new attraction
called Mickey's Garden. It was a song filled fest,
that warmed my Enchanted Gardner's heart.
The songs could have been written just for introducing
    Enchanted Garden ideas to Kids.

After the show, I was so filled with enthusiasm that
I ran up to Mickey, the star of the show.
I had just finished my first edition of the
Book One of Plant Your Dream.

They have a rule at Disneyland that Mickey
is not allowed to talk to the guests of the park,
    but he can write notes!

    We exchanged hugs.
He took his pen and wrote me a note:

    "To the Enchanted Gardener,
    CONGRATULATIONS
    Thank you for your help!
    Your Pal Always, Mickey Mouse."

    Two delightful photos were taken
    of me and Mickey.

    I understand that American Adventure,
oh, yes, I thing that is the name of the park,
has taken out that lovely garden where
    my friend worked.

Orange County was once an orange grove.
At the garden, they had orange trees growing.
He told me it was the one of the few places he knew
that had once been an orange grove, then turned into
a parking lot, and then returned to being an orange grove!

Now that's an Enchanted Garden dream!

That was the year I could hardly walk.
I was looking at getting Hip Replacements.

I went to Orlando, Florida twice that year,
the first for the International New Age Festival
in January. I knew I would be coming back that
August for the International Feng Shui Conference
that was scheduled to be held at the Disney Hilton.

By August I having pain in my hip.
I may have already scheduled surgeries.

I had committed to doing an Enchanted Garden Installation
3000 miles from home. I could hardly carry a plant, no
less set up an Oasis of Plants.

My entire strategy for doing that Enchanted Garden
was based on making friends with the horticulture department
    of Disney World.

They came to my aid, and brought in a bunch of plants
from their vast collection. Jim Weller, the main Disney employee,
came in to set up the installation.

We had a discussion about corporate benefits.
He told me that a lot of them came when he would retire.
I had Morea Garcia with me. She does incredible healing work
    on a massage table.

"Jim," I said, "I understand that Disney gives you all your benefits
when you retire, but here in the Enchanted Garden, we give benefits
    in the moment!"

I had him stop what he was doing and get a treatment from Morea.

He, and one other member of the horticulture department
helping with the set up, joined the Enchanted Garden Club.

The next day, a couple of the secretaries from the office showed up
    for more Enchanted Garden 'benefits!"

I was in Enchanted Gardener mode. There is no telling
what can happen when I get in that state of mind.

It turned out that my work with the Disney people made
an impression my Jim Moser, head of our conference.

I was welcomed to be be the opener for the Closing Ceremony.
It was me and Denise Lynn. I went first.

I acknowedged Disney for their help, and presented
the employee they sent with a bunch of seeds.

I made friends with a number of the staff.
    The next day
I was given a tour of Epcot center before the park opened
and spent time with at the horticulture department.
My reputation via Jim, had already preceded me.

I met with numbers of the staff. I gave them numbers of packets
of Seeds of Change Heirlooms that had been blessed at the Feng Shui
Conference to grow 1000 years of peace.

I gave them a copy of my PLANT YOUR DREAM book.
The book was a bit esoteric for their liking, I heard later,
but they appreciated the heirloom seeds very much
    and promised to grow them.

They gifted me with a number of plants that still are
growing on my back porch. That was in 2001 I believe.

Every time, I touch those plants, I am reminded of that
    Magical moment.

Being on the wounded healers path, I have my ups and downs.
This summer I was down with all the decluttering that
we were doing around here. It brought up a lot of stuff.

One of my summer highlights was going to the Del Mar Fair
on opening day. The speaker was the head of horticulture
at Disney Anaheim. I gave her some of my Job's Tears
that she said she would plant at Disneyland.

One of these days, I will follow up on these Disney activities.

Thanks Chef Jem for the trip down memory lane!

I have had visions of one day being a Cartoon character
at Disneyland. Hopefully by that time, we will have
a new president who has done a lot of good in the world,
regardless of all the obstacles that it took to get there.

I'm really glad you got in before what I've heard is the new finger-print requirement!

I can see you as "a Cartoon character at Disneyland". You may want to consider starting by having a comic book artist develop a two-dimensional character.

I wonder if there is still a "Mickey Mouse Club". The Mickey Mouse Enchanted Gardening Club!

      Cheers

        Chef Jem,

Every year, I do a few activities with Kids.
Last year, The Seed was plantied for

        1. growing Job's Tears with children,
making necklaces out of Job's Tears,
        3. having the EG Mobile as a Outreach (similar to Oscar Meyer having his
Weinermobile, when I was a Kid),
        4.and telling the story
of Joe the Farmer at schools.

There are many blogs about Joe the Farmer written.
Before the crash last April on Curezone, I had uploaded
numbers of pages from that story for kids.

The Joe the Farmer story is about how Joe,
a local farmer, Never, Never, Never, Gave up
inspite of everything, including all the Red Tape.

I know you know a lot about Red Tape, of
        Noble Moo Man.

At last year's Earth Day, Whole Foods Market
paid for a full page ad in the Earth Day magazine program.
I believe that Ad may be uploaded here as well.

This year, one of the Big Successes was having
an Enchanted Garden Play Day. You can see
        that flyer here.

Last Sunday, I took kids to the Farmers' Market.
They had a Treasure Map, with photos of the various
        Local Farmers and Garden Heroes.

The Rebuilding of San Diego, taking into account
the needs of local farmers and the opportunity
to prevent fires through more growing of plants,
was also something that I put a lot of juice into
        in November.

When I did the Jewish Renewal High Holidays
last year in September, I was also involved in
        Kid activities.

        The theme then was:

Why fight for Holy Land when with
worms and compost we can grow as much
        "Holy Land" as we need.

I met a man at the Jewish High Holidays
who was showing the kids how to make
        simple animated cartoon books.

        We hit it off.

It turned out he was a professsional cartoonist
and had in his earlier days helped create
Tom and Jerry and other characters.

Alas, we have not been in touch.

The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit has
been in my energy field the month.

Dr. Pam Fox Kuhlken, coauthor of
        HOLY SCROLLS
The Origins of the Dead Sea Scrolls
        became a new friend.

She made the first "Graphic Novela"
ever on the Dead Sea Scrolls.

        It speaks about the Essenes
        living at Qumran.

Many of the modern theories want
to discount the idea that it was the Essenes

It was a lot of fun to be turn on some lights for her.
As you know Your Enchanted Gardener is
        an Essene Minister.

Thanks for "watering" some of the Seeds
        in my Garden.

There was too much Light in my room.
I just awoke to turn off some so I could sleep.
