What you said makes sense and understandable. Unfortuanately I read on this forum some people who had been vegan and have diabetes and can't control it. Doesn't make sense somehow. I do think veggies and fruits are best but does a little meat a day okay like say 4 oz. or maybe every other day etc... My husband has been diagnosed with Diabetes has a fasting blood Sugar of 368 when diagnosed. Hes diet has been bread, pototoes, meat, cheese, pasta and some veggies. He has never ate fruit much so his Sugar was coming from these foods and of course sweet tea. Hes not a big milk drinker either never has been So I would think he would need to eat veggies and small portions of meat and some fruit but I know fruit has natural sugars not sure how much he should consume. As far as grains pasta etc... I would think he needed to either do without it or take very small portions. What would be your take on this. I am trying hard to comprehend this all, its all new to me but I want to help him. Any supplements that would be good for him. I have been reading about this bitter melon but I don't think we can get it here as in fresh fruit which as I understand is the best way to consume this. I have read about cinnamon but someone on the forums said that what we find in the grocery stores in the US isn't the true cinnamon which is more frustrating. We just found out he has diabetes and We have spent 600.00 already in 2 days. Thats alot for someone in the low middle class with no insurance. Any tips would be great. Thanks and yes I am stressing the exercise to him, even though he is not overweight he is out of shape physically, He doesn't get much exercise but wouldn't need to lose more than 5-10 lbs at the most and actually he looks fine at the weight he is.
