You should read this book, the PH miracle by Dr. Robert young. This is a diet that includes 80% raw food and a small amount of cooked food. In my opinion this is the best vegan diet out there and it is something you can actually live on. Whether or not you want to do it for the rest of your life is up to you.
I did this diet for over a year and I felt amazing on it. You need to figure out for yourself if you are the type of person that can live without meat or not. Personally, I feel much better while eating meat. If you go a year on this diet your body will get so in tune with itself that you will be able to tell if you need meat or not. When you eat it for the first time your body will either reject it or it will feel great from it. I suggest that if you do start eating meat again just eat organic, lean meats like chicken and fish and eggs. Thats what I do now and I feel healthier then I ever have.
I have a personal belief that different people are suited for different diets. Some people can live on raw foods or vegan diets while others do better with a little bit of meat in their diets. I think this has mainly to do with your country of origin as different cultures at different foods because of the environment.
Always stay positive and willing to learn because health is a personal goal and not everybody is the same, just listen to your body and your intuition.
