GLOBAL WIND MAP: JOSE ALREADY HAS CATEGORY 5 WINDS
If you don't want to wait hours for hurricane updates from the USGS, use the Global Wind Map which operates in real time.
If the link works as I intend, you'll get the most accurate wind speeds because it will be set close to the altitude inside the hurricane the USGS actually measures. According to the wind speeds, Jose has winds that are within 15 mph of Irma. The USGS may not agree with this on the next update however, and Irma still dwarfs Jose. But Jose is showing up now as a really powerful little hurricane. To get a comparison of power, click around in Irma, then click around in Jose. You'll clearly see Jose is getting serious.
Katia has picked up a little, and might be a category 2, but Jose absolutely took off (opposite my prediction) and has become extremely powerful. The latest USGS update at the time of this posting won't have the latest accurate details on Jose, it takes them a while to post them because they take them with airplanes that fly a schedule.
