Julie, bless your heart. First o all, sometimes we do need doctors, as I doscovered recently, but you still need to do research and have discernment over the medications they prescribe. Although they can be bullies. But once you're in the hospital under their care you pretty much have no choice but to undergo their tests.
As for your cholesterol, it's 131 and they want to give you statins? For some reason, doctors want to keep cholesterol under 100, which is very unhealthy. Years ago 200 was considered normal and it should still be. I am not a doctor and cannot advise you whether to take the statins or not, but let me give you an article that I wrot a while back about cholesterol and you decide. Also, please do your own research. Never take anyone's word as gospel, especially on the internet.
As for your salt intake, processed foods contain a lot of salt. And sugar. It's best to have a healthy whole foods diet. Himalayan sea salt is best, but it is also high in sodium. I would rather not give you a specific daily salt intake because I don't know your history. It's best that you ask your doctor.
I hope I have answered your questions and I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
