I tried over twenty types of over the counter drops and evne Restasis they all make my eyes more irritated and red the next day my eyes feel light sensitive and sore ...my doctor thinks I'm highly sensitive to perservatives so I went to the natural drops still my eyes felt dry the Apple cider vinegar and honey and distilled water works . I started taking Lugol's one drop a day in water drinking it taking good quality Vitamin E, Flax seed oil and Chia seed oil then I would put vitamin E oil thickly smeared around my eyes this helps a lot. The doctor said to wash the rim of eyes in the shower to stimulate oil production. I was also told I do not close my eyes all the way shut I was surprised by that but was told to begin to close my fully thoughout the day. The doctor suggested wearing a eye mask a bed time one that is dye free soft organic white breathable to ensure that eyes will remain fully shut. I also learned that my diffusion of tears is three second which is too fast meaning there is a deficiency in the tear contents itself. since it is made up of mucuos, oil water..I think my issue was oil deficient I've learned that dry eyes could be caused from auto immune, thyroid hormones defiencies, not blinking enough or not closing your eyes fully while sleeping or not blinking enought and fully closing your eyes while working on the computer.
Dry eyes can be sign of serious food enviromental allergies, dehydration it can be caused by inflammation and deficiencies to much air conditioning. My MD thinks Cod liver oil or high grade fish oil is the best way to help dry eyes, but I'm a vegan ...anyhow this is just a few things I've learned that hopefully will help others
