I Had the Mirena for about 4 years. I had some side effects but nothing bad. I then had a bad pap, my first bad pap EVER, and had to have a colposcopy which is a biopsy of the affected spots of the cervix. The results came back that I had high and middle-grade pre-cancerous cells. I then had to have a cold-knife conization of the cervix and had my doctor remove the Mirena. He tried to convince me that mirena could not have caused it and wanted me to keep it. I still don't understand why because it's my decision and my body. After having it removed I had to had a pap every 3 months for a year and they were all good. Its been almost 2 years since having it removed and I am totally back to normal and feel fine.
