"Most people think of themselves as being a victim to some degree or other."
You think so?
Being a victim of outside influences is an excuse most people use for not wanting to grow up and mature into a responsible adult. As I explained to refresh, most of humanity has been programmed to believe in the doctrines of one of the so-called 'established' religions that exist on this planet.
The concept that a devil exists (a concept created by man) is a way to blaming man's inhumanity to man on some outside entity that is distinctly separate from man himself. This is clear proof enough that most of humanity does not want to take on responsibility for the situations that they've created for themselves. The chart below shows that most people on the planet are either Christian or Muslim. Both believe in a devil that does the evil in the world
Blaming someone else for your own self-created misery is, at the same time, saying that one is not responsible for the creation of their own happiness, either.
