I think the Colonies were told they had to use Gold & not paper. They had little gold at that time. That had a very negative effect on doing business.
Interesting tidbit about the "British paid it's debt to the USA for weapons in the second world war". I had not heard that. I would have thought that debt was forgiven by now. We must Really be hard up for money.
If you read the Treaty of Paris which ended the Revolution (I think) it was a peace agreement, it was written by King George. Hardly written by the winners of the war.
