I cheated on my water fast
I did 4.5 days of water fasting just fine, but every evening for about 3 hours, I find I just crave food. Out of habit definitely. I caved yesterday and had about 1/2 cup of apple juice and then about 8 breton crackers, even though after 2 I didn't crave food anymore.
This morning I'm not hungry, no bowel movement yet, and so I'm wondering if I've eaten enough to screw up the ketosis, or if I go back to fasting now will it take another 3-4 days to get into ketosis. Any long-term weight loss from this is just an added bonus, so I also have to ask that even if it would take me 3 more days to reach ketosis again, will I still get elevated 'healing' those 3 days? Nothing I've read anywhere specifically says that the healing benefits happen only during ketosis. Rather, it seems I just need a long enough break from regular digestion.
And my story if you care: 29f, ~60lbs overweight. I wanted to water fast for 21 days to try and make my colon pain go away. Dr's just tell me I'm constipated and don't excersise enough, neither of which is true...regular bowel movements, I walk at least 30min 5/7 days week. Since getting the colon pain I'm developed peripheral neuropathy. Do blood tests, everything shows up as normal, no immflamation markers, kidney or liver problems. So, I decided to fast to try and heal myself. I tend to be low in both iron and b12, so I often take supplements for both, and find they help my mental state. I figure I must be having absorption issues since I don't eat that badly, besides overeating.
Oh, I also still had the colon pain while fasting, so again, definitely not constipation. I often find that being full is when my colon pain goes away even, although not if I'm overfull (happens too much), have a lot of sugar, or have any caffeine.
