I'm tired of milk products period. I never liked yogurt or milk. I use it because it's good for me, but I've been drinking a lot of water kefir and kombucha made with juice instead of tea, and both of them get very carbonated if kept tightly closed. I like it that way.
You may find water kefir boring also unless it's carbonated.
Here's a guy making milk kefir that sat a day too long and separated. It's better when it's caught with just a few tiny pockets of whey on the bottom. The grains float on top and you can scoop them off into the strainer and wash them or squeeze them throught the strainer with a rubber spatula. He just kept shaking it. This guy acts like he's afraid to touch his grains! It's funny to me because I love touching them- and you will too if you just do it.
They're very tough and people cut them into small pieces to get more to sell, but I think you'll find you have too much very soon and yuo can't give it away. That's when you dry them.
There's lots of videos to watch and see it varies so much what people do to them you can pretty much experiment and have fun with it. I like this one because it shows how carbonated water kefir gets if you keep the lid on tight. "Probiotic entertainment" haha I love it.
