thanks chrisb1. but what exactly is a "a small amount of a cortisol-like substance"?

my specialist wants me to take cortisol tablets. teensy widdle doses. i'm not sure exactly how i feel about synthetic cortisol. actually, i am mostly sure how i feel about that - but i wanna be better so badly. you don't do extended water fasts for fun.

so i'd love to know what else i could take that is a natural form of a 'cortisol-like substance'. i've done all the adaptogenics: ashwaganda, maca, all the ginsengs, licorice, schizandra for *years*. and no cigar. i'm going to try rhodiola rosea next.
