I got hold of some water kefir grains earlier this year, tried them once and didnt like the results so stupidly left the grains in chlorintated tap water in the the fridge.
6 months later i decided to retry.
This is the 2nd batch, I am using spring water, the kefir still seem to be fermenting, albeit very slowy.
For the 2nd batch i used half as much water as i figured i might've used too much water for the smallish amount of grains i bought.
So, I've had half a litre of water and 4 tbsp of Sugar
with the grains in for about 1 1/2 weeks. The liquid is still quite sweet although these is still some fermentation (vinegeray) taste.
I've never tasted properly done water kefir. when done properly i guess all the sweet taste is gone?
Will they be ok and If i leave them longer in this solution, will this help revive them?
