As I said before, I see significant improvement in my health lately: food allergies are diminishing both in terms of scope and physical impact of reaction; I can now eat a much larger spectrum of foods--I am no longer confined to ten or so foods, and it's great. When I have a reaction, it's much milder and I feel fine the next day. I am training myself to walk longer and longer periods of time. Most of all, my gut irritation is dwindling, and I love the feeling of being almost pain free down there.
I was not following the candida diet--it never did anything for me anyhow--just watching the carbs. Then I decided to start eating more and more fruit, and felt a distinct improvement-more energy, less toxic, feeling that my food was not stagnating so much in my intestines, that the digestive flow was easier and faster.
Since my gut is still a bit raw, I eat few raw fruit, but lots of cooked fruit, compotes, dried fruit, etc
Except is you eat it unripe, fruit seems to be very easy to digest, in fact it digests itself, and brings a lot of vitamins too. But I discovered that eating fruit (fast carbs) but no or very little slow carbs is the basis for a diet, called "specific carbs diet" recommended for people with inflammatory intestinal diseases, like Crohn's or colitis, which seems to be my case as well as many members of the Candida Forum .
Since I started this diet, I have less gas, less fermentation, and less and less irritation. The concept behind this diet is that slow carbs (not a natural food for hunters/gatherers), as the name indicate, take longer to be absorbed , stay longer in the intestines and ferment more, whereas fruit is digested faster and ferments less, except if raw and unripe of course.
Since I am feeling real good on this diet, I wanted to let you know. Of course, I am not a fruitarian and eat good portions of animal proteins as well. I have no allergies to animal proteins, except milk, eggs and some fish and shellfish; I can eat and digest all meats with no trouble.
I have also noticed that fruit are the food I am the least allergic to; I am allergic to no fruit whatsoever, except the exotic ones, like kiwi.
Of course I take no vit or mineral sUps, as I have read study after study rating them less absorbed by the body than the equivalent found in natural foods.
