Do you think I'll ever be 100% better? As in, I can eat/drink what I want without instant overgrowth?
Yes! Especially if you get a grip on it now with diet, supplements, etc. (see all posts in this thread!). But about the alcohol--think about it this way: The excessive alcohol intake killed a lot of your friendly bacteria thereby leaving room for candida to get out of control--and the Sugar
in alcohol is fuel for yeast/candida as well. Kill the candida and replace the good bacteria and get your body back into balance. Once you feel well, allow yourself treats and maybe the occassional drink or two, but try to start thinking in moderation (as in one or two drinks in a month and maybe even less--less is more in terms of drinking alcohol). Always remember that alcohol is a direct feed for yeast and a probiotic killer--besides that, from my personal experience excessive drinking is the fastest way to break down your body and mind--it's such a huge stressor on your body and it leads to depression and actually fuels anxiety (it only temporarily quels it and then ultimately ramps it up a couple notches). You'd do a whole lot better for yourself to develop a passion for exercise to help you cope with stress and anxiety. And if you can't get into exercise or if it is not helping enough with stress and anxiety, it would be way, way, way (can I say way another time?) healthier for you to get a scrip for antidepressants to handle your stress and anxiety than to drink.
