Next time you go to Wal*Mart get a bottle of Magnesium Oxide, before you go to bed take about 1000 mg with water (actually you should take this as soon as you know you are in for the night). Mag. Oxide should allow you to have a bowel movement without the explosive diarrhea of some laxatives. Plus, magnesium is known for relaxing muscles, calming nerves and helps some people with stress and depression. You may need more or perhaps less of the mag. oxide to regulate your bowels, but it should help you. You are right that all the extra fiber may have blocked you up temporarily. If you system was used to low fiber foods it may not have the perestalic strength to push out the fiber. You may need to gradually add fiber instead of introducing it all at once.
