Hair Follicles Considered Gateways In the Body's Immune Response--Must Read
Important article especially considering how Morgellon's disease attacks the hair follicles, which thwarts the immune response! I hope the research continues.
From the article---it's not long and is worth reading
"Since its publication two and a half years ago, the paper has been highly cited in the scientific literature — 57 times according to Google Scholar — and has been ranked in the 90th percentile for articles published around the same time in Nature Immunology.
The findings have forced scientists to re-evaluate the importance of hair follicles — they are no longer considered merely sites of hair growth; they are now thought of as being important gateways in the body’s immune response, Amagai says. The findings also raise the question of whether hair follicles function as conduits between the dermis and the epidermis for other cells and substances. Hair may turn out to be even more critical than even Nagao’s research suggests."
My poor older dog, Morg. disease is doing a terrible number on her fur. Around her eyes, great loss of hair and also replacing white hair with black. Belly riddled with dark red saggy lumpy skin no matter what I do.
Still the sore paw which causes limping. Pads are redder and swollen on that foot. I think it's the same thing I have on the sole of one foot, a red swollen sore nest.
Dog's coat has been greatly affected by the biters and weavers. The fur gets sheared off in clumps, them woven into a matted clump. You can pull out clumps that have been sheared off (no follicles) and come out as a distinct clump.
Anyone else have Morg experience with dogs, and can recommend anything that works for their fur, and for a belly that looks like red hanging udders.
Dogs taking 100 mg Doxi every 12 hours, also Fenbendazole double strength according to weight, Bactrin, and Prazi 2 times a day. Also Metronidazole.
Our bird got Morgellons too, finally died. It was sad. Feathers were sheared off continually and falling off. Terrible itching. Beak and eye area became coated in the yellowish slime. I treated for worms for 4-5 months, and every dropping had a large worm, the size of a young earthworm. Would roundworms be that size?
