I promised myself I would never go on the net about morgellons again after I discovered I had it OCt 2006. I was so freaked out I barged into my doctors office, hyterical, of course he tried to prescribe me medications.
What I read scared me to death. After a lenghty talk with my practical mother I resigned myself to the fact there was nothing I could do, and never to read about this condition again and just try and live with it.
I had many terrible symptoms, lesions, pepper specks, glitter, fibers, hair, muscle twitching, gum problems, emotional problems, sleeping troubles, red and blue fibers, black fibers, white and clear fibers, hives, thrush, felt like bugs crawling on me, etc.
Now the weird part.....I also had major digestive problems, like IBS, and felt like my food wasn`t digesting....so I discovered (by pure fluke) a diet from the 1920`s called SCD diet, that was grain free, lactose free, and Sugar free, in order to solve my digestive problems.
Guess what happened...um yeah...all my morgellons symptoms faded and went away, doing nothing else other than overhaul my diet. Also this diet is a whole foods diet that does not allow any proccessed foods.
So it has been a couple of years now, and I have wanted to post this somewhere so others can try it. There is a very similar diet called GAPS, and even more restricive is paleo or cave man diet.
The nice thing about SCD diet is it cures so many diseases. like celiac, cholitis, chrohns, ibs, skin prioblems, autism...look up you tube for videos.
Your weight will also normalize without dieting. I lost 100lbs, for underwight who are not absorbing their foods, will gain weight.
Although the diet is a 2 year commitment, you will see results in the first day, by day 3 you will be convinced, by the 3 week, you will feel `normal`` again.
What made me decide to post this, was an experience I had the other day. I was making a homemade pizza for my boyfriend a few days and was HORRIFIED when I actually looked at pizza dough. I bought it fresh from a local ilalian bakery.
What I saw was what used to come out of my skin. Black specs, little black fibers, white node things....this was from the yeast.
I haven`t had either brewers or bakers yeast for 4 years now, which MIGHT be part of the puzzle.
I tried searching this morningfor the first time to see if anone else has noticed this. I didn`t see anything on diet or the yeast connection.
If you try the diet and see results please post post post on as many forums as you can for others.
Just so you know the diet is designed to starve out parasites, bacteria, yeast, and fungus from their favorite foods and break the viscious cycle. WHatever morgellons is..because I really dont`want to speculate, the diet will starve it too.
A vey good cook book series is the every day grain free gourmet and grain free gourmet....these books are for foodies who don`t want to sacrifice gourmet food while altering their diet.
Look up scd legal and illegal foods, you will see as I did, that many of the illegal foods are what health food stores and practicioners advise you to do.
A canadian food scientist perfected the diet in the 1970`s, so you dont need to guess anything.
Out of the legal foods, you should check your heart rate to challenge certain foods to see if you have a hidden allergy, if your beats go up or down more than 8 beats per minute, do not eat that foods for a month or two and challenge again.
Your hidden food allergies will clear up as your gut heals.
I love stories with happy endings. Thanks for the tip on allergies and heartbeat, I'm trying to identify some food allergies and that mey help. Thanks. Would you post this on the Parasite Support Forum?
Morgellons is associated with decreased immunity, a specific fungus, and specific bacterial infections which are thought to be secondary to Morgellons.
Yeast thrive on sugar, ferment it. There is a reason that you rid yourself using diet, there is a cause and affect relationship. I don't want to speculate on what that is but I am researching that diet. It seems that Morgellons may be anaerobic, just like yeast, so a diet that increases alkalinity will increase absorbable oxygen, strengthen immune system, decrease bood sugars, also will add chlorophyl to diet with again is a dye and highly absorbable, chelates toxic metals. Obviously there has to be a connection, Thanks for your posting, YOu have given me a project to work on now that Cancer is easily understood as anaerobic, I need something else to devote my work too.
Thanks for sharing that info on diet. I have had food sensitivities ( only mold test positive for me as an allergen ). Had Cfs before morgellons, found if I ate only fresh food nothing stored ( including bottled juices etc, maybe that is where the old product goes ) my gut healed. Decided it was the mold in stored foods. I do best with no grains and frozen legumes. if I do this I can digest my food normally. If not it seems to feed the parasites.
Hmmm....for some, Morgellons can not be totally corrected by restricted diets, although I do think they can help. I think if you get into a more advanced state diet is definitely not going to resolve this disease. Another good resource that also goes into details on how to test for food allergies and has loads of information about vitamins, minerals, herbs and food supplements is an old book called "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by James F. Balch, M.D. The SCD diet definitely follows a lot of the information in this book as well. Pretty funny it was published back in the 1930's.
I know that yeast is a huge player of this disease, beware of taking probiotics since I have found they seem to mutate into more organisms that invade your body. I was miserable when put on this and my health got worse. I thought I was helixing from it, but over time it was clear that this had fueled me with more problems. I did well after detoxing just to eat yogurt. Also the persistant acidity Morgellons individuals suffer with is due to the explosion of organisms and rapid die off. Most natural systems are slightly acidic; PH 5.6. As organic matter is broken down, it releases acids. A high die off of organisms would indeed increase acidity levels. Interestingly enough acid rain was a huge topic in 2000 so why is it since chem trails started(shhh....they're just comtrials); in those areas it is being conducted PH levels have gone from their typical 5.6 acidity to extreme alkalinity? Hmmmm..... Death of decomposers, poisoned by excess aluminum in the soil or increased acidity slows rate of decomposition. Thus increasing mycorrhizal fungi which live symbiotically on the roots of trees having been poisoned. If you've noticed over the years mold issues are becoming more and more common. There are statements made my Randy Wymore in regards to Morgellons skin testing showing a type of fungus found in plants....hmmmm....Barium, Aluminum, Silver Iodide, and God knows what else is in the mix. Diet? I don't think so, not in the true sense of the word Morgellons. It's a lot more complexed than that.
Congratulations on finding a solution to your troubles, I finally found a solution to my digestive troubles and afflictive emotions that come with them just this past year. I suffered from irritable bowels for about 28 years of the 29 I have been around.
After doing my own research (trial by fire) and finding out that I am allergic to dairy and wheat which improved my quality of life greatly, there were still some things bothering me about my diet. I was still hungry all the time and having the indigestion from certain foods I was eating. I was really at a standstill doing my own research and was looking for some professional help and was willing to pay a natural health doctor up to $1000.00 for testing.
It was at that time that A friend at my local health food store in Morro Bay, California turned me onto Dr. L Wilson and also recommended that I check out the specific carbohydrate diet as well. I got a hair mineral analysis test and started researching about the diet.
The hair mineral analysis test showed my calcium magnesium ratios were way off and my potassium magnesium ratios were off as well, most of my other minerals were low too and I was suffering from adrenal burnout and my brain was not producing enough glucose. By looking at the Specific Carbohydrate Diet I realized that hemp milk was one of the things on the specific carbohydrate diet that I could not eat. Then started thinking about it and realized that every time I would drink hemp milk my heartbeat would go way up and I would feel hyper similar to the feeling you get when you drink coffee. I thought it was from the energy in the hemp milk at first and realized that it was giving me trouble spinning me out a little bit like coffee.
Although Quinoa, Amaranth, Millet and Flax seed are illegal on the specific carbohydrate diet I have found that they work for me. Most of the things the specific carbohydrate diet recommend removing are right on for me. I have not found anything else that will keep me full and keep my energy levels up high enough. My diet is so restricted I without Quinoa, Amaranth, Millet and Flax seed I would be starving all the time.
It was a long cycle of trial by fire that lead me to the diet that I am currently on. I don't do well on rice, tapioca or potato flours and most of the gluten free breads are made from these flours so I was mostly eating steamed vegetables chicken and fish with organic corn meal when I first got my test results. About six months later I indroduced Quinoa into my diet and this seemed to help fill me up more and provide a type of buffer to the vegetables chicken and fish I was eating.
A few more months went by and I started trying different flours like Quinoa, Amaranth, Millet and Flax seeds. First I was trying to make bread rise with these types of flours and was just getting a pile of un cooked dough and would have been better off just making some kind of porridge. At this time I was also eating allot of chicken and turkey and steamed vegetables as well.
I eventually got a few cast iron pans an cured them with lard because the bread I was trying to make was sticking to the pans and I had remembered my aunts cast iron pans had a nice non toxic non stick type of surface. So trying different flours and different cooking meathods over and over eating mushy un cooked flat bread I finally figured out how to make good flat bread.
I heat my cast iron pans to 400 degrees and make sure they are nice and cured. Then I mix up my millet flour with quinoa, amaranth and flax seed meal and I learned that the key is to use two or 3 parts millet to one part amaranth, quinoa and flax seed meal. Then I mix up the flours into a pancake type batter and put some olive oil into the pans. Then I pour out the batter into the pans to make a quarter inch flat bread. Making the flat breads has really improved my quality of my life. I can now eat healthy bread although I am allergic to wheat, eggs and dairy.
Some other things I eat are
boiled whole grain quinoa, millet and amaranth with steamed brocoli, bok choy and carrots then I mix in gluten free soy sauce and olive oil.
allot of pistachios to get my fats and extra protein.
some fish once a week to curb the endless hunger I get from protein deprivation when only eating grains nuts seeds and vegetables
sometimes I will eat my bread by itself and have it with lemon water or just plain water, sometimes I have it with almond butter and I also like to dip it in pizza sauce as well
I use my bread for croutons in my romaine and mixed greens salads then I just add some brags apple cider vinegar and olive oil.
I like to eat raw foods as well I make wraps with roasted sea weed paper with sunflower sprouts and cilantro.
I am always making changes and additions to my diet trying to stick to the foods that make me feel good as well as trying to find a balance that tastes good.
My latest change has been removing all sugars from my diet including sugars from fruits as well due to a Yeast Infection I have developed from stress and worry. I have been taking 3000 ppm Colloidal Silver which has been keeping the candida in check and it went away for awhile then I started drinking roughly a half gallon of orange juice a day and it returned. I ordered more silver and plan to stay away from the sugars until I get rid of this and who knows maybe I will stick to it. Its been nice not having the ups and downs all the time from Sugar spikes.
It is such a blessing to have finally found food that I can eat and not be afraid or think that I am going to get indigestion every meal I eat. I had to take myself to the edge of death to find all this stuff out but now it feels like I have been given another chance at life. It sounds like you had it even worse then me.
I have also been able to help other people with all the things I have learned about diet like staying away from Genetically-Modified-Organisms Corn, Canola, Soy and other things that are not good for health and critical thinking skills. My mom has been staying away from Gmo corn and Soy and she had some popcorn at movie theater and since her body is more pure it made her sick and she has a very strong stomach. Now since I have been not eating dairy for a couple years now I get a rash if I eat a milk chocolate bar.
If you have any questions feel free to send me a message
Thank you Jeremiah. Will you post your email so I can email you questions. I have morgellons as well. My doctor said it was a titanium dioxide and silica over load. I have run out of money for medication. Do you suggest anything that worked for you? As far as food what do you make? Chicken, steamed broccoli, zucchini? I just need ideas running out of food to eat and get lazy and eat pizza which makes it really bad. I drink a lot of synergy gt kombucha. Do you think that stuff is good? I thought the probiotics would help just bought some expensive stuff. WAs going to do a para cleanse, then Colon Cleanse then take probiotics. Do you recommend skipping the probiotics?
My visible morgellons symptoms began showing themselves about 5 years ago. Have searched the internet far and wide to find a cure to the skin lesions and the "network" of tough bands of fiber under my skin in certain areas, mainly groin and upper legs. Some in the neck. Mostly near lymphatic vessels I have come to the conclusion. I think my problems started young and have been colorectal based. I had a hard stool issue as a child and was treated with suppositories. Was diagnosed with a swollen prostate at age 21 when I went in for a urinary tract infection. Began having hemroidal issues by my late 20's. I am now 36 and my fight against this has directed me towards an extreme low carb, high protein diet. Most importantly, a Sugar free diet. I am entering month 10 of this diet and the health benefits I have reaped of this are insane. I am in the best physical condition of my life. For the first time in my adult life I am not considered overweight according to BMI charts. I was unaware I have been an average of 30-40lbs overweight all these years even though there isn't a person I know that would have considered mefat or overweight, it was well distributed throughout my body. I say this because now I question what that extra weight actually WAS. I think there is a fungal/yeast connection with this disorder. I question what myself and others refer to as cellulite. I have had many knots, bumps, and lumps under the skin either shrink or come to the surface on this diet. With many lesions now gone or are now drying up finally. The lesions and the "network" of tough strands under the skin are actually fistulas. They are tunnels, not strands and they originated in my rectal and pelvic area. The ones that still exist no longer get inflamed and I inject Iodine into them to keep them clean and the are healing and closing up. I believe this is how this awful disorder spread through my body. Which can only lead one to believe this all started as a digestive issue. I think the disorder spread to my sinuses as well. Ears popping a lot. Congestion. I can attest that Sugar causes lots of mucus in the body. I NEVER get so much as a runny nose anymore and what has drained from my head and what I have coughed up in the last year alone is enough to make me give up sugar for good. If I ever do indulge anymore, and I rarely do because it isn't worth it. I feel like utter crap and usually end up going for a run to sweat and get it out me asap. BTW, I now go for an 8 mile run a few times a week and I could barely run a mile when I was a senior in high school. The moral of the story is the original author of this post is spot on because I am living proof of the sugar connection with this disease. If you think you have this condition I would highly advise cutting the carbs out of your diet immediately, most of all SUGAR. Man was never built to eat it like we do now and most of the ailments people suffer from these days are the result. I wish anyone with this horrible condition the best and hope they see the light like I have. Worst case scenario by giving up sugar (artificial too!) is that you will look and feel better, have six pack abs, and be able to run like a fine tuned machine. I only touched the surface of my whole story and could probably write a book on it but I just wanted to reinforce what this person has said because it couldn't be more true. PLEASE GIVE UP THE SUGAR! It's far more deadly than we have given it credit for. Best wishes
This I believe as well.
After I had convinced Doctors that this disease is real they gave me amilsulpride. It worked after 2 months I was cured. Its been 6 month off medication and no symptoms have come back. Now I need to get real and change to an alkaline diet!
This drug really works, fast.
Hello i am going through a similar problem. Parasitic movement biting burning. Its been six months now and i am being eaten alive, ive been perscribed permeth,ovide,ovium,malathion,etc.. OTC rid naturasil etc... I know this isnt an std because i was not sexually active for over 6 months prior to experiencing symptoms. Dermatologists just perscribe and tell me its neurological, but ive seen the creature one time in the six months. I cant make headsor tails of it. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. Im seeing a mental health ass. because im suicidal. The past three days i have been eating only organic chicken and beef and organic cheeses organic veg. NO Sugar NO CARBS OATS LENTELS ETC.
It would be sooo refreshing to speak with someone who has gone through this nightmare. Its been three days since i started the SCD and it seems like the skin crawling is worse as if theyre aggravated maybe... I cant make heads or tails of it
my 10 yr old, 12 and 15 yr old and myself have this, welcome to a world of hell, if you don't commit suicide you will be one of the lucky ones. be prepared to go to hell and back, cause that is exactly what this is. whomever invented this or does not believe this is full of shit. hang in there, like the rest of us and try everything and don't go crazy.
You are absolutely correct. After having my genome sequenced - I discovered that I have hyperhistemia due to a mast cell disorder and low DAO.
Unfortunately, people are unwilling to consider that Morgellon's is a systemic hyper allergic response.

(NaturalNews) The sugar industry launched a campaign in the 1960s to downplay evidence linking sugar consumption to America's rising cardiovascular disease rates, and blame saturated fats instead, according to a new report released earlier this month.
A researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, recently discovered internal documents from the sugar industry and correspondence letters between the leaders of a trade group called the Sugar Research Foundation (SRF) - known today as the Sugar Association - and heart disease researchers.
The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), found that the sugar industry paid prestigious Harvard scientists to publish research blaming dietary fat, not sugar, to be the main culprit of coronary heart disease.
Biased industry-sponsored research
The newly published JAMA paper relied on thousands of pages of correspondence between top sugar industry executives, such as John Hickson, and prominent researchers.
Around the 1960s, some studies had begun pointing to a relationship between high-sugar diets and heart disease, while other scientists blamed saturated fat and dietary cholesterol for posing the biggest risk. That's when the SFR came up with the idea to shift public opinion through their own sugar research, information, and legislative programs.
The emerged documents show that SRF paid three Harvard scientists the equivalent of about $50,000 in today's dollars to write a review based on studies handpicked by the sugar industry. The scientists were asked to write a paper in favor of the sugar industry.
After a few drafts, where the scientists had dismissed the data on sugar as weak and given far more credence to the data implicating saturated fat, Mr. Hickson approved their work.
"Let me assure you this is quite what we had in mind, and we look forward to its appearance in print," Mr. Hickson wrote.
The review was published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, which did not require conflict of interest disclosure until 1984. The review had exactly the effect that the sugar industry had hoped for. The debate about the possible link between sugar and heart disease died down, while low-fat diets, which are high in sugar, gained the endorsement of many health authorities.
A double win for the sugar industry.
How the sugar industry influenced dietary guidelines
Industry-funded research has played an important and informative role in many scientific debates. Based on their findings, health officials have encouraged Americans to reduce their fat intake for decades. This has led to the consumption of low-fat, sugar-laden foods that some experts now blame as the major cause of the obesity crisis.
"It was a very smart thing the sugar industry did, because review papers, especially if you get them published in a very prominent journal, tend to shape the overall scientific discussion," said Stanton Glantz, a professor of medicine at U.C.S.F. and an author of the JAMA paper.
By doing so, the sugar industry was able to shift the negative attention away from sugar while putting fat and cholesterol in the spotlight. By the 1980s most scientists were convinced that added sugars didn't play a role in heart disease. Therefore, the first Dietary Guidelines for Americans mainly focused on reducing total fat, saturated fat, and dietary cholesterol for heart disease prevention.
Reforming the dietary guidelines in their favor is not the only trick the sugar industry has up its sleeve. Last year The New York Times revealed how coca cola had spent millions of dollars in funding research to downplay the link between sugary drinks and obesity.
Furthermore, in June, the Associated Press reported that candy makers were financing studies that claimed that kids who eat candy tend to weigh less than children who do not eat candy.
Stanton Glantz's report clearly shows how industry-funded research is ruining our health and happiness. Independent science is our only hope for learning the truth.
HI, I am desperate to fast to rout my candida/other bacterial intestinal overgrowth. I have needed to do this for about 30 years -- since I was 10. I have had a horrible life because of this disease. I have adhered to an all-raw diet 2 years straight now and have fasted weekly for a couple of years as well -- which has just barely kept me functioning. Hell, I can't even claim to function. Depression, lethargy, the entire list of symptoms. Brain fog. Anxiety. I know a good fast of several days would do something powerful to clear me up. In the future, for my life, I need to be a person who fasts at least 10 days, 4 times a year. (Ugh. the thought of it. But I can get used to it.. I can get used to anything... but I need support, which is why I am writing).
In my healing process I need to go through an initial phase of significant long healing fasts. I have not so far in my life been able to rouse myself/support myself/conquer my depression/get the courage/support to do it. It is an incredibly "sober" act. Oh, God, to go without my drug of choice, food, which makes everything bearable. Life is so unbearable without it. It's almost unthinkable. I need to call on all my spirituality to do it -- that part of my spirituality the disease has not totally robbed me of. Actually, it just takes a little self-convincing, but I really am pretty able to endure the idea of fasting, of this sobriety. The trouble comes about 2 days -- 48 hours -- into a fast, when "life just seems too unbearable" to go on without getting a "fix" of food. I need help to plan for and anticipate this trouble time and any other trouble times. i need help to get positive about fasting and willing to do it.
Now have a tiny bit of real-life (i.e., non-Internet) support (just asking successfully, convincingly, for this takes huge courage and motivation and huge "sobriety"/surrender to really getting well, dropping the food addiction... SO HARD... but I did do it...) ... I have had a surge of motivation. And I just really learned about Candida, and all the common intestinal illnesses, diverticulitis etc., and this increased my conviction of my need to fast and my willingness to do it (it's a simple matter of my health! Of my body NEEDING to be cured of a very serious infection!)
On this surge of motivation I tried to take a 10-day fast but lost the attempt 48 hours into it -- last night. I had told a couple of "real-life" people about my great inner surge of strength and my hope to fast 10 days and really make a difference to my health. I am very sad that these people could not really make a difference in my attempt to do this. I may need someone who has actually been cured of Candida by fasting (I myself have experienced, once, a period of relief from it as the result of a 3-day fast... I felt relief for about 6 hours, that is, until I started to eat again. Those 6 hours of health and strength and peace are 6 hours I will never forget and I want them back and I should be able to get them back and live that way for life!) Please, if you would, support me in my attempt.
I am starting either today, Sunday, May 2, or tomorrow, Monday, May 3, after a last meal which I will keep moderate in size and "anti-Candida diet-" compliant. I will fast from May 2 or 3 (Sun/Mon) until Wednesday/thursday, May 12/13.
My addiction has been to overeat... though I have white-knuckle-controlled my weight for 14 years now... white-knuckle because I have never had the will to REALLY clean up my diet taking out ALL even SLIGHTLY triggering foods ( I recognize i will have to do this now following this fast but I am prepared), and mostly because I never had the power to stay on a fast long enough to kill off the yeast /bacteria -- so I have remained compulsed to eat/food addicted... even while suffering horribly from bloating/gas/belly like a beach ball, and being very thin...
important note: it is absolutely vitally important to me NOT to pathologize the thinness or be scared by it... especially I need NOT to be scared to fast as I must for my dignity, for my empowerment, for my health... thinness, it is important to me to assert, is NOT per se dangerous... people who are freaked out by it are freaked out by it because they are ruled by their candida/bacteria and their bacteria are in a way "scared" of their being cured, [since this would mean death to the bacteria]. These people, via their bacteria, it seems to me, are scared by the vision of a thin person because they [those freaked out by thinness] have poor boundaries and think that what one person looks like THEY have to look like i.e. THEY think that just because someone in their immediate environment is thin THEY have to stop THEIR overeating, so their bacteria/candida which rule THEM get threatened so they [the freaked-out-by-thinness ones] react in a hostile way to thinness in another person... in their fear, generated by their bacteria which "fear" being killed by fasting, they invent scary mythologies about thinness... convincing themselves that thinness precludes fasting and is in some sense even inherently "Dangerous"... CRAZY and SO CONTROLLING... see various natural hygienists for validation of fasting as a cure for thin persons as well as overweight...anyway I myself am so sensitive to all their (the "fearful fatties'") garbage since I myself, being overrun bacterially, have poor boundaries, too [the bacterial/ Candida Overgrowth condition is in many senses a disease of "poor boundaries," and from what I have observed, the poor physical boundaries [leaky gut, for instance; also, inability to stop eating when eating is not ok with you] are reflected in poor psychic boundaries [being very controlling of others, feeling the feelings of others, being "codependent," being "alarmed for others" a lot, that sort of presumptuousness/disrespect/infantilization of other people... anyway, I am very harmed by it and not interested in it, so if you've got some, keep it TO YOURSELF, PLEASE. This, my need to fast, is first of all valid just because I say it is, and it's MY body; and second is a matter of my basic wellness and even survival]
anyway, the point is you are requested NOT to write back pathologizing my thinness or sending what I so tiresomely and very damagingly receive, stupid fear-based "warnings--" really, messages from YOUR wellness-fearing intestine-infesting bacteria-- about my thinness. In the FIRST PLACE FAsting is MY choice and deserves RESPECT-- so do NOT write about my thinness, please. I am in a desperate state of health and NEED TO FAST TO GET WELL...
....NOT down quantities of antimicrobial medicines OR herbs, which ALWAYS stop working,
... NOT "juice fast," -- a recipe for disaster,
...NOT ingest calories!!! which ONLY FEED THE DISEASE,
.... BUT.... SIMPLY .... FAST.
I don't like having to do it, but this will change. i know I can learn to love fasting and wellness and sobriety.
What I would REALLY LIKE is a lot of positivity about fasting and the food-sober way of life -- messages that I CAN go without the "fix" of food, really go without it until I stop needing it as a fix. My health demands that I get out of the state of needing food as a fix. It has become that serious for me...
Again, please write with support of me to kill this candida/bacteria with a ten-day fast!!
By the way, can anyone give me very explicit tips on doing the Salt Water Flush? This is the one "aggressive" thing I feel would actually help in my process, but I have never attempted it. I do know to wait until I have fasted about 24 hours... has anyone been scared to do it and then learned in spite of the fear?
I also want to know about the salt water flush. be sure to drink tons and tons of water while you fast. I attempted one a few days ago could only go two days, thought it might help my horrid acid reflux but the sec I put food in my mouth the third day it was just as bad as ever. As it is I limit myself to one meal a day not because I want to but because i have to, the pain is just too much to eat. when the candida is down I think I will be ok but that is a long way from now. Good luck and keep an eye on your self, if you get too weak ect.
I don't see any real way to cure candida fasting. If that is the solution everybody here will fast. You probably be doing more damage to your health fasting than eating properly. If candida is your case, there is food which don't feed candida at all but will feed you in some way. Honestly, it looks like crazy to me. Think in a better way to deal with candida than that. What you write is lack of sense.
It's true that the hunger stops after two days so hang on in there, you'll be amazed! If you feel something that resembles hunger just drink some water and you'll see it's gone.
I water fasted for 14 days and a 48 hours dry fast. I still had the Yeast Infection . Fasting is great and the way you feel after 10 days is wonderful, I would say high on water!
Have anyone added Iodized salt on the water fast? I didn't add any salt the times I fasted, I wish I had known about it back then, maybe I would have made more progress. I read some people are adding some salt, but I guess you just have to go with your intuition.
Last week I've been taking 2 tbs of apple cider vinegar in water every 8 hours and now I'm into Iodine as well, been having die off lately, my tongue is looking better so have a feeling I'm on the right track, time will show.
I also think I found a way to reach ketosis a lot faster than the first times I fasted (usually takes 3 days), starting the fast by jogging and staying away from water the first hours. I didn't last more than 48 hours that time, but it felt like a good way to start.
The first time I water fasted I was drinking about 5 liters a day, I had not been doing any salt loading and just been eating fruit for months, I was thirsty all the time.
I think salt is important to stay hydrated, if not you might end up drinking too much water, witch might give you pain in the kidneys.
I had bad kidney pain on the first fast, it didn't get much better and it wasn't until I completed another water fast of 14 days this pain went away. I think this might have been caused by too much water.
When it comes to drinking water on a water fasts, listen to your body and your own intuition, not just drink for the sake of drinking.
Hi. Wow. Please read this with the spirit with which it is intended, which is to help. And I am not coming from a place of my bacteria talking for me, as I am pretty much recovered from candida for the most part. I am not coming from a place of fear, btu from a place of what can realistically work. It sounds to me like your expectations of yourself are crippling you. Not that there is anything wrong with a little fast every once in a while, but I hear you beating yourself up and causing yourself soooo much stress because you are unable to live up to the extremely high expectations you have for yourself. And that stess you are placing on yourself is something that can definitely make candida worse. People tend to dismiss stress as not such a big threat, but it really is. Plus, believe me, 6 hours of relief does not mean a cure is possible from doing it longer. Has anyone mentioned to you that candida itself can cause you to be compulsive about eating? That it can trick your brain into thinking you need to eat, that you are always hungry, especially for carby foods, and you really have no control over it - it can make you feel ompletely powerless over food. So, when you think, all you need is just a "little" more willpower - well, it is not willpower that is the issue. I was there. Maybe also since food allergies and intolerances are such a huge part of this illness, that trying to figure out what foods you are reacting to and eliminating them instead of all food would be more beneficial to your recovery. Often we feel compelled to eat things we are intolerant to orr allergic to. Food intolerances are one of the major things that affected my recovery, along with liver issues. And, you do need to have some good nutritional support to heal from anything, candida included. BTW, I have no issue with your thinness - have no clue how thin you are and it really is not relevant to my points here anyway.
But, ok, if you are insistant on fasting anyway, I wish you well and hope it is everything you want it to be. I hope it works for you. If not, come back and maybe try a few things (liver support, bitters, for example, check the Truth in Medicine forum for some good info).
I am sorry you are not getting the type of support you are requesting, but you have to consider, maybe there is a good reason for that.
I'm on day 3- and i know day 3/4 is when your body goes into ketosis but today im feeling REALLY weak. like my arms and legs feel all jello-y. I dont know, so I was wondering if i snack on like a rice cracker or something so I dont faint, will that stop me from going into ketosis? I just dont want to start from day 1 again...
10-50 grams of carbs will stop ketosis, depending on a number of factors. Btw, if eat very little, but still enough to stop ketosis, you'll get the worst of both worlds - no ketones from fat for fuel for the next dozen or two hours, yet not enough food intake to offset that. Thus, zero energy will literally turn into negative energy...
A steak, unbreaded chicken, or fish will not break ketosis. However, it won't really be a fast anymore... If you're doing it for weight loss, that could work, but it will nullify the cleansing effects.
Also, any noticeable amount of calories will reset your inner fasting timer. You'll have to suffer through the first 48 hours of horrid hunger again, as if you just started, and it will continue to reset after every single meal you have.
I like your name and would love to be fasting buddies with you. How's school? how is your fast?
I think what you are going through is totally normal -- the feelings of weakness. In my opinion, & from my experience, I think this is an effect that the body creates when it is trying to tell you to slow down because it has "work to do." This is how I think of it. i think of it as , the large intestine is really burdened all the time if we overeat... so... if it gets a chance it will try to stop you in your tracks so it can do its work of elimination (getting the s*** out, that is -- sorry). Whenever I feel "weak" I feel "OK, that is my intestine getting me to stay still."
I do get this weakness, too, like you, in fasting. I used to get really scared by it. I used to get really impatient with it and broke fasts because of it but hope i do not do that this time (support pleeze???). It's the bacteria in me somehow, neurologically, I feel, creating this ... anxiety .. about what exactly, it is not clear... the end result is that on so many fasts I ate, I mean lost the fast entirely, which was what the bacteria/yeast wanted. Ugh!
It (the weakness) has gotten less as I have become less food-addicted. I guess "food-addicted" means "yeast-infected." Anyway I am ready now to really bring down these bacteria /yeast with a fst of at least 10 days. I have started the fast as of now, as of last night...
Fasting my short occasional/weekly fasts has helped bring down my food addiction. In a small way. But as I say I am really ready to stop suffering now -- really ready to start doing long fasts. ... I HOPE!!! ... With support!!!! (oh God PLEASE!!)
I have had to exert great discipline when not fasting and really make some life choices to abstain from certain categories of food. This was hard and is hard. Oh well. I think it is the right thing for me to do.
Just wanted to write a quick note. Please e-mail me l c a t h f @ g m a i l . c o m !!! If you want. Hope to hear from you!!
I won't bore you with my story and the list of the symptoms we've all experienced with this disease. The point of this post is to provide a list of stimuli that I have found to be connected with flair ups. I'm writing this in hopes that if anyone is having a hard time clearing up their skin, they can try to eliminate one or all of these items. I have not had a flare up for several years since avoiding as many of these items as possible. They are not listed in any particular order. I have found It takes approximately 1 week to see results after changing your routine
1.) Too much sun exposure at one time (minor burn). Be aware that in small doses sun exposure can actually be beneficial
2.) Alcohol. Especially wines and beers. Have found ciroc vodka made with grapes to be the most friendly on the skin
4.) Exceeding ~100 grams of carbs from grains. Stick to fruits vegs garbanzo beans & sweet potatoes when exceeding 100. This number will vary from individual to individual but I have found this is the most important thing to try if you are struggling (think leaky gut)
5.) Including too many foods outside of produce on a daily basis
6.) Marijuana and opiates (yes I said it)
7.) Any supplement, including vitamins. 99% of multi vitamins have the wrong quantities of coenzymes and in the wrong ratios. You are always better off getting the micronutrients you need from whole foods whenever possible
8.) Protein powder. Whey is the worst offender here
9.) Amino acid supplements
10.) Hormonal supplements
12.) Prescription drugs (they all made my symptoms infinitely worse unforuntatelty)
13.) Most soaps and shampoos. I have found salicylic acid to be the most friendly on affected areas especially the T-zone. Finding a way to clean the affected skin with a compound that doesn't cause a flair is one of the most important step to being symptom free IME. Be aware though that it will almost always get worse before it gets better especially when switching products. If i were to give a tip here for cleaning, I would say that you should clean the area with the same pressure you would any other area. Not pressing hard enough on the eyebrows for example or on the scalp is a big issue (make sure your getting at the skin)
14.) Sweating profusely. We can't avoid this, exercise is important but be aware and make sure to wash the area following vigorous exercise
15.) Being overweight. Can cause issues with immune functioning and gut health
2) Hormonal imbalances..... It could be due to pregnancy.. usually it happenes in very first trimester but some could expereince throughout pregnancy and some doesn't... during that time hormones are not always stable and that can cause a hair loss..
Also it COULD be due to THYROID problem (!).. Many of us have Low thyroid and even do not know it!
My hair was falling down a big time and I could Not understand why.. and then I started experiencing a few other things of my body. So I RASH to check my blood on thyroid... Thanks God thyroid itself was ok But... other hormones which were produced some other part of the body and contolled the good function of my thyroid was a bit imbalanced! I personally have a hoby in NUTRITION for about 18 years so I did some reading about natural cures of all that plus my Nutritional knowledge so.. it Should be and Wll be fixed and balanced eventually.
Here are some blood analises u need to check to find out whether it is a case..
1) thyroid hormons (2 of them, the ones which are produced by thyroid itself)
2) Hypothalamus and Pituitary gland (body) hormones!!... those two produce Hormones which are in Control of Thyroid - so they should be checked too!!
3) Cholesterol levels (here we got 3 options of them and u need to ask for 'wider' results)
3) Plant Based Diet (with NO dieting) with adding raw salads and greens to ur meals, drinking Fresh juices, reducing or avoiding consumption of Refined oils should be on Cards if you not only want to Improve the condition of your hair but also Feel and BE Healthy over all!
"Beauty is about diversity," "No matter what their style, attitude or skintone, all women are beautiful, and my goal with this line is to help them look and feel their best."
Hair loss is now often seen in youngsters and possible reasons could be over exposure to sun, stressed mind, unbalanced diet, dandruff etc. Hair loss if not treated seriously can lead to baldness. We can reduce hair loss to great extend by properly taking care of our hair and scalp. Cleaning scalp with mild shampoo, drinking lot of water and eating a protein rich diet can help prevent hair loss to great extend. Hereditary as well as genetic reasons often lead to baldness where chances of re growth of hair are way too less and hair growth treatments and hair transplantation methods are best options one can opt for. My brother who lives in Toronto did his hair transplantation from this particular clinic and it looks really good.
I truly believe that the harsh chemicals in modern shampoos are a big reason for hair loss as it irritates the scalp. An unhappy, inflamed scalp can never grow healthy hair.
I've quit all bottled shampoos containing sulfates and switched to natural and old fashion shampoo bars, love it! I use it for the whole body as well, and face. I have only used JR Ligett's shampoo bar so far and just ordered a few different kind from Chagrin Valley too, can't wait to try them out. My hair feels great! I offset the alkaline shampoo bars with a white vinegar rinse, mix it with water, a ratio of 1:9, let it sit for a minute, then rinse. Hair is silky smooth without the dangers of any chemicals.
There are numerous possible reasons for hair loss as mentioned in the post harmful chemicals used in hair care products can be one reason for hair loss. Trying out natural remedies such as herbs and oils for hair growth can decrease your hair loss. In some cases hair loss is caused due to hereditary reasons and in such cases it is recommended to try out hair loss treatments such as hair transplant surgery and hair restoration methods. I recently did my hair transplant from a clinic in Toronto and it served as an excellent solution for my baldness.
This is going to sound completely contrary to the goal of most people here, but I need some advice. I am going on vacation and will be drinking alcohol heavily for 4-5 days and want to know what the best protocol would be to avoid my Candida Infection getting worse during this time/after.
After a couple of months following a candida/low-FODMAP diet and rotating multiple anti-fungals (GSE, SF722, Oregano Oil, Pau d'Arco, etc.), which really helped to improve my IBS/Leaky Gut/Candida symptoms, I have now stopped the anti-fungals and am taking digestive enzymes, probiotics (Dr. Ohhira's) and S. Boulardii to try and and implant good flora. This seems to be working really well - my digestion has improved a lot, although I have been having constant stinky gas, but that could just be from die-off because everything else has improved. I've also started taking molybdenum and panthentic acid/panthenine which has greatly improved my fatigure symptoms.
I'm wondering if it would be best to jump back on some anti-fungals that would help keep the candida in check while I drink beer and other sugary drinks, but don't want to hurt any of the good flora that have started to grow. I plan on continuing with the probiotics and molyb/PA, but then maybe start anti-fungals again like SF722 (Undecylenic acid) to minimize the good bacteria impact while keeping the candida from going hyphae. I would also stop taking the s. boulardii, which would be killed by anti-fungals anyways and I'd rather not be gassy the whole time.
I would then jump back on to my normal regimen once vacation is over and hope that not too much damage was caused. Or is it best to just continue with the S. Boulardii? Any other recommened anti-fungals or protocols to prevent Candida Overgrowth during times when you can't avoid sugar/alcohol?
You really shouldn't go too far with the sugar. Regular alcohol is fine in moderation (in my experience) but sugary drinks aren't.
What happens when you take anti-candida supplements while simultaneously feeding the candida through food or liquid consumption is that you're letting the candida not only grow back but also grow resistant to the things you're taking, which ultimately will cause problems later on. I say just do things in moderation, but as soon as you start noticing symptoms I'd stop.
Email evidence shows a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) executive aided a Coca-Cola representative in efforts to influence World Health Organization (WHO) officials to relax sugar limits
Last year, WHO announced soda is a key contributor to child obesity, suggesting restrictions on sugary beverages
Two days after Barbara Bowman, Ph.D., director of the CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), was exposed for offering guidance to leading Coca-Cola advocate, Bowman resigned from her post
(NaturalNews) In 2016, approximately 1,685,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S., and more than 595,690 Americans will die from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. It is thought that the most common cancers to be diagnosed this year will be:
Lung and bronchus cancer
Colon and rectum cancer
Melanoma of the skin
Kidney and renal pelvis cancer
The National Cancer Institute goes on to note that approximately 39.6 percent of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes, and national expenditures for cancer care in the U.S. are estimated to total $156 billion by 2020.
New research reported on in The New York Times points to the fact that lifestyle choices are more important than genetics when it comes to developing cancer. Though a person might have genetic risk factors for cancer, it is their lifestyle choices that will activate certain genes and allow cancer to develop.
Cancer isn't something that appears out of nowhere; it develops over many years, as a result of the combined effects of daily lifestyle choices. Sugar consumption is being highlighted as playing a large role in the activation of cancer genes – with sugary drinks in particular believed to fuel the growth of cancer cells.
Sugar and cancer
As reported by The New York Times, the new study found that drinking sugar-sweetened beverages is linked to an increased risk of endometrial cancer in postmenopausal women. This is the first study to find the same association between sugar and cancer as exists between sugar and Type 2 diabetes.
The study, published online in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention, has found that all sugars increase the risk for Type 1 endometrial cancer – but sweetened drinks have the biggest impact of all. Those who were in the highest 20 percent for sweet drink consumption had a 74 percent higher risk of developing cancer than those in the lowest 20 percent.
Compared with most other dietary sugars, sugars in drinks cause plasma glucose levels to rise higher and fall lower, and it is thought that these fluctuations may play a role in the increased risk of cancer. But this isn't the first time that sugar has been linked to cancer. Using MRI scanners to look for glucose, a study published in Nature Medicine found that glucose causes tumors to light up brightly as they contain high sugar levels. Tumors consume much more glucose than normal tissue due to their abnormally elevated metabolism levels – so sugar actually feeds cancer cells and helps them to grow.
This perhaps explains why those who drink sweetened drinks on a regular basis are much more likely to develop cancer than those who don't; the sugar they are consuming feeds the growth of tumor cells. As reported by Natural News, sugar creates an acidic environment in the body that allows tumors to thrive. It also causes inflammation in the body. Eliminating refined sugar from your diet can help to reduce your chances of developing cancer.

2 weeks was all it took for me to wipe out a never ending 20 yrs sentence of moderate to severe acne.
I went sugar free for 2 weeks. I still had artificially sweetened stuff. I know bad right? but it worked. If you MUST eat sugar ..go with sugar free items.
Take cold milled flax seed, ground can be found at the vitamin shoppe etc etc.
Fish oil caps. I did NOT take those everyday ..so i cannot accredit them. I have NOT taken them since SEPT 2007 and I still enjoy a virtually acne free face.
I also took MH 's hormone herbal balance since May of 2007 WAY before the acne free challenge. but I do believe it works but takes a LONG time.
Eat a diet primarily of fruit, veggies, and meat.
Very lil of the other stuff
I drank protein shakes (sugar free) the whole time.
STop complaining about your acne while eating your ice cream. ( eat the sugar free kind)
And try this ..2 weeks ..what do you have to lose.
I had ACNE for 20 yrs and now its gone after 7 months STILL no more.
Unless i eat 5 cupcakes and then i get a few very small pimples a few days later. YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR ACNE
LET me CLARIFY: during the 2 week sugar free period. I ate no food other than sugar -free protein shakes. If you dont want that I dont know what else you are to do. Maybe veggies and meat. No fruit or sugar
After the diet ..i eat fruit , veggies, meat etc with no adverse effects. ONLY If i eat a huge amount of refined sugar at one sitting.
Something else that I forgot to mention. I quit using acne skin care treatments. I use normal stuff and pond's cold cream to take my makeup off. I am beginning to think that the popular acne produts actually was making things worse. I have tried them from time to time? And it seems my acne would multiply while using the benzoyl peroxide products after awhile. hmmm.
So what I am saying is CUT EVERYTHING OUT. FORGET THE HYPE and B.S. and try this and that. It's like a stab in the dark.
NO CLEANSING NO NOTHING.
If you really want to be clear after 2 weeks do exactly as I did ...That way there are no altercations. if you can stand to drink sugar free protein shakes for 2 weeks and no other food.
Some of you might say well that's not very healthy? but how much do you hate your acne?
I stumbled on this by accident. trying to lose weight
JUst try it ..sugar free for 2 weeks with the cold milled flax seed. I know what you are saying.. I did that to .and it didnt help me either.
BUT I think you also need to quit cleansing. 2 weeks ..Just quit all the cleansing, All the b.s. go sugar free for two weeks.. just try it for me.. and then come back and tell me it doesnt work for you.
I didn't eat fruit during that two week period . I said i had protein shakes and flax seed the ground up kind and the fish oil caps
I said my diet now consists of fruit, veggies etc.
I am not saying you have to drink protein shakes for two weeks. but be on some kinda limited sugar free diet. eat beans and veggies all 2 weeks. I know ur a vegetarian or else i would say eat meat.
That's great! I am not saying you will cure acne completely? But mine is totally manageable now .. based on what I am eating. It never fails. If i eat a huge amount of sugar at one sitting 2 or 3 days later the pimple fairy comes. I dunno what sugar free for 2 weeks did to me. But it's not longer uncontrollable. When i completely cut it out.
The flax-seed and Fish Oil are both high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids and those can help regulate hormones and mood swings. You may not need to give up your fruit completely, just stick to the less sweet ones or limit the total intake of your favorite fruits. Eat plenty of leafy green veggies, plus beans to keep up your protein. I know you are very underweight and that too strict a diet may not be good for you.
I am sorry to butt in, but so many of your recent posts have sounded like you are very discouraged and depressed. Perhaps because I am fighting these feelings myself, I feel (and, yes, worry) for you.
I never had the cystic acne you have, just a couple of painful huge cysts once a month, however, I had pimples for nearly thirty years. When I was in my forties I started liver flushing and the Master Cleanse. My skin improved dramatically. The two things that worked so well for me may not be for you. But, the flax-seed and fish oil may prove to be a benefit along with a diet free of refined sugars and low in natural sugars and simple starches. By the way, I buy whole golden flax-seed and use an inexpensive coffee grinder ($15.00 at WalMart) to grind the seeds fresh everytime I use them. This may be a no-no, but I liked to stir the ground flax-seeds into a half cup of unsweetened applesauce for breakfast. Sometimes I would add ground raw pumpkin seeds or walnuts to the pudding like mix. I used this instead of cereal.
I did ground flax seeds every day for like a year, and fish oils (before I was vegetarian) for like..4 years or something? Maybe 3 years..but yeah. You get the picture.
Diet is certainly important to overall health, but it doesnt do anything to my acne.
Ive been eating whatever the hell I want (besides gluten as I know I have a sensitivity to that) lately. Results? Skin no worse than before. Maybe even a little better because I feel more like a normal person and Im not so stressed.
Im thinking stress may have more of a factor than anything else. And demodex mites..but damn if they arent impossible to get rid of since the medications for them are too harsh for my skin.
And you know..I ran out of all the flax seeds and oil since losing my job, and I think Ive actually felt better without them. I wonder why..I wonder if they oxidise in my system more than other peoples and actually do more harm than good. Ive heard of other people breaking out from them too. If I wasnt a vegetarian Id do the fish oils again, but thats a deal breaker for me.
That's great to hear! But let me clarify, you don't eat any refined sugar but you still eat artificial sugar? Fake sugar is probably the worst thing you can do to your skin and your body, and you haven't broken out from this? Sugar-free gums, drinks, ice-creams..etc are killers, I'd rather the sugar laden ones over that. And do you stick to just meat and veggies as your daily meals after the 2 week "diet"? Do you still eat pastas, bread, eggs, potatoes..etc or have you cut all of that out completely? I can't do that. I've cut out SOME wheat and gluten by replacing my bread with organic wheat-free brands which by the way are terribly expensive. But I can't pass up lasagna night, or BBQ's or things you'd look ridiculous passing up at events and parties, 'specially when you're hungry. That's just not living for me..it's got to be something else, I mean cutting out every human food on the planet is okay for some (the strong ones) but it's almost impossible to live like that. I would be miserable every day.
In my personal opinion, I think that the problem is mainly caused by emotional issues & stress. I mean I totally agree with diet to a certain degree, but there has to be more. I am so glad to hear that your skin has been clear this long, keep up the great work!! Thank you for posting your success - but I for one can't live on just meat and veggies my whole life.
This DIET is for 2 weeks only. You may resume your sugar fest afterwards. Beware you will still get pimples but it will be controllable depending on what you choose to eat.
Artificial sweeteners while NOT good. Sometimes you have to make a choice. ACNE? or refined sugar.
AGAIN I keep saying this diet is for 2 weeks. If you can't follow something for 2 weeks? Then I say to you enjoy your acne.
For those who CAN not abide by the no sugar rule. Then get sugar free desserts or whatever. The choice is your's
MY diet is WHATEVER i want it to be. And I still do not suffer from the severity of acne. I do not eat perfectly and really i havent in over a year. Last nite i ate Steak n Shake ok? but yet i wont break out. All because I did what is called the velocity diet for 2 weeks. Seems to me it's like a reboot of your computer. A fresh start for your body to re-organize itself. And get things undercontrol.
To some people acne is more important to them than anything else. This is FOR them. Not for the ones that say I CANT! You the naysayers may continue to b**tch and moan as usual:)) I don't care. I know the suffering of acne is a painful one. And if you cant do something for 2 weeks then it must not be that bad.
Awesome! I totally agree with you. Just want to share my experience here. Last month, I was going through a one-month fasting which also means, less greasy food, less sugar-loaded food/drink. And guess what? I can clearly see the good effect on my face. I got less breakouts, clearer face, fairer skin and I, in whole, feel very much healthier than before. So yessss, things you eat do matter. So look out for your diet. Buying a hundred-dollar worth of acne solutions wont do much if your food is full of oil, Sugar and other manufactured ingredients.
