I was very active on this forum some years ago as i was summering from high intensity symptoms related to candida infestation. I had pretty much given up on ever really fixing this problem.
Then i met a german nutritionalist and sought advice from him. His suggestion was that i went on a 10 day cream fast. I had been a vegan for many years in the past and was not really into dairy but somehow was open to his suggestions. I followed his advice and took part in a 10 day cream only diet. This was in India so the quality of cream was not even so good.
The purpose of this diet was to again train the body to go to fat as a source of fuel. During these days the body goes into a state of ketosis where fats are processed as the primary source of fuel.
These 10 days for me were revolutionary!!! In this 10 days i felt none of my normal symptoms, no bloating, no gas, no body odour, mainting energy levels and no cravings for any carbs or sugar!!!! After the completion of the initial 10 days i saw that my body had indeed switched to being able to process fats as a primary source of power. This changed my entire life and body!!!
In practical terms for me it means for breakfast i eat no high carb fruits with cream and I am now recently also adding other sources of fat such as butter and other other high fat foods.
I wouldnt mix the cream with dried fruits or banana for example. I live a lot in india and my favourite combo is papaya and cream!!
THE KEY TO THIS IS TO NEVER MIX THE FAT WITH SOURCES OF SUGAR.
I ALWAYS WAIT 4-5 HOURS AFTER EATING THE FAT BEFORE EATING ANY CARBS!!
If carbs or Sugar are consumed with the fat the body takes that as the primary fuel and stores the fat for later ( this is why so many people are over weight ). The problem is not eating too much fat, it is eating fats in the wrong way and the body not being used to processing the, As a child we feed on breast milk which is the most optimum source of these fats. I see now that from the moment we stop to breat feed we spend a life time looking for a good source of fat.
The reason that this is so related to my candida is that when the body cannot process fats it will always need carbs and Sugar as fuel and this also feeds the candida and other related parasites and things i had. Now i have no cravings and the best bit is that when i do indulge in carbs and Sugar and simply eat the cream in the moring and allow the body to process that. This can be sped up by combining the consumption of fats with viguorus excercise. This seems to speed up the bodies processing of prioritisation of the fats.
My diet and life has changed beyond recognition. I eat more fat ( as well as a good balanced diet of fresh fruit and veg ) then most people yet i am entirely lean!! We have been mis educated and lied to by main stream food providers for too many years. My symptoms have totally gone!! no skins rash, no bloating, great energy levels and a total relaxation of my thought process and cravings around food.
In tibet they drink butter tea and now i understand why. The fat is the best source of energy for humans. Like a slow burning, steady oil lamp instead of dry straw thrown on a fire as is the case with sugar and carbs.
I needed to share this as i really suffered for so long with these candida symptoms. I teied all of the diets and all of the supplements, i tried all of it and then gave up. That seems like another life time ago now.
This year i see more and more posts online regarding the benefits and Science of this diet and i see how it is directly linked to this condition.
I dont know if i have time to be active in this forum but i needed to share this vital information.
Step 1. Go on a cream only ( best is organic for sure but the fat is the important thing ) diet for 10 days.
Step 2. Continue by adding a source of cream and other fats into the diet.
Step 3. Always eat separate from sugar.
Step 4. Give it a few weeks and see what happens. Retrain the bosy to run on what it has always been designed to.
Thank you for posting an alternative idea that has worked for you. It's refreshing to see someone try something different than the usual stuff on this forum, and post results.
Can you clarify the sentence "i eat no carb fruits with cream" -- I'm not sure I have ever heard of a "no carb fruit"? Or did you mean do not eat any fruit with the cream (which fits better with the later statement about keeping carbs and fats separated by hours).

Someone told me that apples also high high Sugar content but they seem to work well for me. I wouldnt mix the cream with dried fruits or banana for example. I live a lot in india and my favourite combo is papaya and cream!! i cant get that in the UK though :-)

Very Good info. Thanks for Sharing. I also incorporated alot of fatty oils, and organic butter, fatty fish to replace the carbs I used to eat...seeing progress and my weight loss has stopped. Your info make alot of sense.
Can you give more detail on this "10 day cream diet" or Fats you eat...What does this diet entail exactly?

In the initial 10 days, i literally ate only whipping cream. An important thing is also to whip the cream or " chew " it. This helps the digestion. Dont just drink it as i think it makes it hard to process :-)
In the first 5 days after that i ate apples, papaya and cream and slowly returned to a normal diet but starting the day with my cream combos :-)

The main thing that changed for me is breakfast. I could never find anything to eat before that was not carb based that gave me the energy i needed. THis is the problem, a carb based diet means you need to eat carbs every 2-3 hours and the hugh levels of Sugar feeds the imbalance.
So now it looks like this:
Breakfast : Organic apples with either whipping cream ( whipped is best for ease of digestion) 250+ml, Cream fresh or clotted cream. In other countries i would choose papaya, it has very low GI index. The fat is best processed when blood Sugar levels are not raised too much.
Lunch - Many times the power from the fat in the morning sees me through the whole day but i can also eat any combo of veg and salads and even more fruits.
Dinner - Often now i feel i can eat anything for dinner. The breakfast fats re-sets the system and also the dependance on the carbs.
If i see i have been eating to much carbs i simply have 2 days with cream and apples only and its all reset :-) I can even enjoy breads and cake now altough i never consume this within 4-5 hours of the fats :-)

I think ketosis also feeds candida - you cant cut all carbohydrates.
The healthy minimum is about 70g. If your organism tolerates lactose, eat lots of natural or better probiotic yougurths.
Lactose is the only Sugar that candida cant eat.
Since almost all fatty acids in our civilization diet re omega-6, i suggest drinkin linseed oil.
Its the healthies oil and it doesnt ve any mercury - some fish have. Some sources say that anti-inflammatory ability of omega-3 have some antifungal potential.
I'm not sure low blood pressure is my issue, but hopefully someone can help me to gain some perpspective. I'm going to see my endocrinologist Friday a.m.
I had been a stevia user for about 5 years. I'd have it about 3-4 times a day - and worked up to a dropper full each time. Very shortly after starting to use stevia, I started to develop horrific gas and constipation and had a very difficult time losing weight. At the time I attributed it to a lost pregnancy. I've been to countless specialists and had numerous unpleasant gastro tests performed, all to normal results.
From March 2007 to mid-October 2007 I walked at a brisk pace every day for an hour. In October 2007 I started working out in a pilates move based class that uses 3-12 pound weights. I worked my way up from 3s to 12s within 2 months. I got down to 147 pounds (female, 42). By the time I got to 12s, after every workout I felt so drained that I either wanted to throw up or pass out. A few times I felt myself about to faint, but was able to stop it. So, on the advice of the gym owner and my instructor and best friend who is a personal trainer (not working at the gym), I started adding more protein to my diet. This didn't really help. The only thing that made me have strong workouts was eating a sizeable lunch of rice and veggies, but the amount of food that made me have a good workout (without leaving me feeling like I could pass out), made me start gaining weight. So, I cut back on the food and resumed weak workouts. I began to make a point of noting what I ate/drank when I felt the worst. At first I throught it was coffee. Then I thought it was tea. Then I realized I felt the worst working out after a workout where I had stevia with my drink with my meal before working out.
So, I have now been off of Stevia for about 2 weeks. And now I am experiencing scary symptoms. I am having dizzy spells. They come after I've had food, drinks or gum that has been sweetened - with anything. I'm prescribed Armour thyroid and stopped taking that to in hopes that was the culprit, but no, it's not. The symptoms persist.
Ever since I stopped using stevia, my digestive system has vastly improved to what I can happily call normal/ A few other aggravating issues are gone now too, but now I feel dizzy a great part of the day. Eating salty things helps me to feel better, but can't eat salty all day.
I'm wondering what the heck stevia did to my system and if there's a way to recover from this.

Sounds like you have adrenal gland problems which is a cause to have low blood pressure and do not think stevia has anything to do with it. I have used stevia for years in my one coffee a day but coffee is a no no if you have adrenal gland problems. Go to the adrenal cure zone site. Most doctors do not recognize adrenal gland problems. You will find all the symptoms on the site and dizziness is one of them as is fatigue.

Just a few days ago i read somewhere that stevia may have a steroid type effect in some people. I believe it was somewhere in the SCD diet pages. (simple carbohydrate diet). And wouldn't a steroid type effect contribute to adrenal fatigue? I'm not downing stevia at all,its natural and I use it on myself and 3 children. But its worth researching and looking into.
I agree with you that it could be stevia that's causing your problems.
I was using stevia liberally for over 5 years and recently had pain on the bottom of my feet, especially walking. It was very strange but it hurt, tingled and felt swollen but nothing was visibly wrong. I had lots of other weird complaints and when I stopped all stevia the pain/tingling in my feet went away, and my BP even went up to normal.
I am so delighted that I stumbled on to this, as I have used stevia powder - with apparently NO bad side effects - since 1994. In the last 3 years, I have developed severe foot pain - and the areas that hurt me, are so sensitive that it just about "drops me" if I bump them on anything.
In the center of where it hurts, is a circular "sore", for lack of a better description. It is flesh-colored, and very painful. I have two on the "ball" of my left foot, and one large one on the "ball" of my right foot, and another one coming, to the right of it, below my toes.
Have thought it was just my shoes, but after reading about stevia and foot pain - I believe it may be the stevia. Other than that, I have had no problems with stevia powder, and have always used just the "pure" stevia, with no additives in it.
As of now, I will not be using stevia. Hopefully, as with the CureZone poster above, my foot pain will leave.

I stopped using stevia 1-14-2011. It is 2-5-2011. My foot pain is gone. Wanted to say, that for me, the side effects, even though it took 16 years to figure it out, were not worth continuing to use it.
I told you I would update everyone about my cessation of using stevia - well, I have, and no more foot pain!

For the last 6 months i have used Stevia and promoted it to friends as i belived it was a natural sweetener. In the last 4 months i have experienced weakness in my legs and suffered excruciating pain in my feet. I was puzzled as to how i could have such symptoms when i eat a healthy diet. Today i decided to research the issue and was considering whether it was uric acid related i.e. gout. I accidentally came accross your messages regarding stevia. This led me to pursue this matter further and i became convinced that my symptoms were related to stevia. Approximately 20 minutes ago i received a phone call from my son who went for a walk with his grandfather. He explained that his grandfather was unable to walk and had no strength in his legs. I went out and assisted my son to bring my father into our home. Yes i also put my 74 year old father on stevia. Thank you for your message and other contributors.

Well, hello again! It is now August of 2012. I stopped using stevia for over a year. My feet slowing were returning to normal, and my foot pain was almost gone. I was so desperate to get rid of it, and tracked down every possible variable in my diet, and shoewear, until I narrowed it down to stevia.
See my previous posts.
Just about a month ago, I started to use it again, to see what would happen. Today, I stopped.
My feet, especially my left one, hurt. The left one looks like it has become "grayer", instead of the healthy pink that it had been, and the hard corns on the bottom of my left foot are back.
To walk, brings excruciating pain, especially where the "corns" are. They look like corns, feel like corns, and probably are corns.
The stevia used, was always the pure, 100% stevia powder, no additives. I do not know if the same foot pain would occur, if one was using the entire stevia leaf.
I have tried to post the connection online, in several places, to help others who might not even imagine the link between using stevia, and their foot pain. Believe me, it is real - and the pain is intense.
Please, if you use stevia, pay attention to your feet. If they start to give you pain, get rid of the stevia.

I agree! I have this also, but how quickly we forget when we're feeling well.
I'm so addicted to Sugar I convinced myself it wasn't the stevia causing joint pain, and pins n needles, numbness and pain in my feet, and got myself in the same predicament again!
At least I figured it out to be caused by stevia, again, and now I'm quitting it all of it again.
Thanks for posting.
