I've been having some hormone issues for awhile, and they screwed with my gut. I started eating way better and fasting for short periods, doing probiotics, etc, and got myself in big trouble with detox symptoms (possibly candida die-off).
I've just come off a 5 day water fast with 14 days of juicing, learned a lot, and it helped, but not enough, so I want to do one more round of detox.
I've come up with the following plan to correct this issue, and wanted to make sure it was sound:
3 days water fasting, 4 days low-glycemic (mostly vegetable) juice fast, 3 more days water fast, 4 more days juice fast (had to break it up for work).
During the juicing parts, I plan to supplement with high doses of glutamine, normal doses molybdenum, garlic extract, a probiotic and sublingual b12.
I plan on following the fast with a diet of steamed veggies, bone broth, mono meals of high water content fruit, gradually working my way toward a GAPS-leaning paleo diet (to ultimately correct hormones).
Hi, I will be starting a second water fast beginning this March 2017, only a few days away.
I loved the results on my first water fast of 7 days early this year, so I'm back again with the hope of completing a longer one. I will listen to my body as to how long I will stay on this fast, but my initial intention is to stick to it as long as I can throughout March.
My wish is to ultimately lose weight, gain motivation and a healthier outlook, and reset my body and mindset without some bad habits and to heal some ongoing ailments.
It would be great to have at least one other person to share a water fasting journey with, whether you are wanting to or thinking about starting one anytime throughout March.
Female, 165 cm (approx. 5.4 ft) 107kg (approx. 235lbs)
I am also preparing to begin a water-only fast on March 1. I intend to fast between 31 and 40 days. I have fasted for durations of 3, 7, 9 and 11 days before and want to go on a long fast this time to reset my eating habits, for spiritual reasons and also to hopefully get rid of extra weight.
Male, 30, 170 cm (5ft7), 228 pounds
I work a desk job during the week so it will be interesting to see how I fare at work.
Sounds like you're a seasoned faster 😀
It's motivating to share this fast with others, my friends and colleagues give me a mixed bag of responses about the fast, it's not everyone's deal.
I'm also working through this fast, I'm an early education teacher so I've got to have my game on. I'm looking forward to the challenge. Best of luck and I'd love to hear any updates you have as you go.
Hope you're all doing well... I would love to join you all in this fast also... I will probably start Monday the 6th and aiming for 21-30 days... I am eating clean for the next few days in preparation...
I am 170lbs currently and ultimate goal of around 130lbs, I am 5.6 ft...
What type of water are you all drinking? I am in Ireland and unfortunately it is near impossible to get distilled water without purchasing a distiller from the UK...
I'm going with filtered tap water. I searched for packaged distilled water (I live in England) and it looks like some DIY stores stock it, supposed to be for the car engine. I wasn't too sure if that is drinkable though so I'm sticking with filtered water for now.
Hi I'm starting a bit late here in March. I did a 9 day the day after St. Patrick's Day last year and was successful so maybe I'll be successful again. Last year dropped 17 lbs. in 9 days. As of today I am 5'1.5" and 144lb. I am a bad with Sugar so getting over the first few days is hard for me although I am rarely truly hungry. The worst part of fasting for me is dry mouth and later on heartburn although drinking warm water helps. I'm going to need support after day 3. I break around then. Glad to join you all!
Happy fasting. My goal is 21 days.Thank you.
Hi again, Day 2 down. Weight down to 139 that is 1.5lbs. from yesterday. Feeling much better. Focusing on the one day at a time approach. Appreciate the Sugar advice and glad others are on the journey with me!
Day 3 down. Down from 139.0 to 136.5. Total in last 3 days 144 lbs to 136.5lbs. I feel pretty good. More hunger than cravings but I know that will pass soon. My dry mouth is not bad either. Posting here helps to keep me going too. Thanks.
Yes... Just make sure your careful with your sweeteners even fruit when you break it.
It's a very slippery slope once your body gets a taste. You can opt for things like green juices, cucumber, tomato, lettuces, and other non hardcore sweet things so that you gradually introduce sugars slowly. And broths, they are fantastic!
That's my 2c hehe
All the best with your journey! Day 19 for me!
Hi there...Fair play to you planning on 21 days. I did a 3 day one last week and lost 8 pounds. Unfortunately I didn't break it very well and gained the weight back. I have started again today and plan on doing 10 days and hopefully breaking it sensibly. Have you done many of them before or just the one last year? Mary
I have done several 3-5 day fasts since my first one a year ago. I haven't made it past 5 since. I am setting a tentative goal of 21 but if I can go longer I will. My 9 day yielded great results. I lost 17lbs of which I kept 12 off. I really just feel so much more controlled in my food choices. Also I have noticed that if I try to start a fast before my period I can't stick to it but if I try right after it ends I have more control and my weightloss is twice as much as it would be if I started right before my period. Just my thoughts. My hormone let els totally even out on a fast too. Good luck!
Day 6 down 131.5 lb lost 1.5lb since yesterday. Started at 144. Total lost 12.5 in 6 days. Stopped taking allergy meds. My allergies are gone. Sleeping better. Better control of moods. Have very little hunger only late at night and early morning. Tried to do some light exercise but couldn't. Itching gone.aches on lower back. Some heartburn.
Day 7 down 1lb. Since yesterday. Weigh 130.5. Starting weight 144 one week later 13.5 lbs gone.
Sleep well. Tough to get going when I wake up but once I do I am fine.
A few sores have developed on my chest usually where I have sun damage from years ago. I brush my teeth about 5x daily.
Day 8 down weight 129.5 lost 1 lb since yesterday. Total lost 14.5 lbs. White tongue, heartburn, weird pain in my back and patches of itchy areas. Crave food when I'm around strong food smells but incredible how much control I have now. Every morning when I have made it another day and I jump on the scale i have the absolute best feeling. I also think of that when I want to eat something. Is it worth foregoing that feeling? I actually dreamt about eating lettuce. Weird.
Hi there, I started a thread however I will love to keep with this one too. I need to lose almost 100 pounds. I'm doing this to stop my cycle of overeating and to stop drinking so much. I'm usually very healthy, but lately I cannot stop eating and drinking, I'm thinking if I have someone else that is trying to do a water fast, that would help me stay on track :) p.s. I don't know how that picture appeared with my message, I will try to edit my profile to remove it.
Thanks. Bit of a space cadet, but that's normal.
My neighbour thinks I hardly look like I'm fasting which is good. Have the fast glow happening... And now... A lovely swollen thyroid.
All good. I'm just grateful for every day I'm alive.
I've started my water fast yesterday (it's been 19 hours now). this my first fast and I'm planning on doing for 20 days, and if i feel like i can continue then finish 30 days. the main reason for my water fast is weight loss, i have a complicated relationship with food (i eat all the time, i just love to eat) and because of that i've been struggling with my weight my whole life. i don't feel good in my skin, i hate my reflection in the mirror and no self-confidence. I've gained almost 15 kilograms during the last 3 months, so hopefully i can get rid of them during this fast. 5 years ago I used to weigh 55kg i wish i could go back to that time.
I came to this forum looking for motivation and support, every time i start a diet i just give up after a day or 2 and start binge eating again. I've tried to water fast many times but the thought of food hunts me and i just give up before the end of day 1.
I'm gonna update this thread daily with infos about how the fast is going, this way i can stay motivated.
Hi, I have a very similar story to you. Very uncontrolled eating at times but it is usually just sweets. I find the one day at a time works best. I have stopped and started making it about 3 days over the last year maybe 15 times! Ugh. Just one thing, a stick of gum, a lick of yogurt, an egg white and I'm doomed. I must say it is easier not to have anything but water. When I did my 9 day last year I felt great, lost 17 lbs. My skin and eyes were so clear. I regret not going further. Btw, I am 46 have 3 kids and my weight is very much affected by hormone fluctuations. I am 5'1.5" and my most comfortable weight is 107lbs. I do like to exercise but do little when I fast. I'll keep updating daily. My best to you.
Thanks, good luck to you too. but i actually failed to do it again. after i completed my 24 hours i just felt sooo hungry i started eating anything i had next to me, then had pizza, soda.... i'm so ashamed and angry. now i'm going to stop eating again i try to start over and make to the endi this time.
Hi been there done that. Try again, one day at at time. What helps when I feel I need food I drink a quart or two of water and get away from food. I really just remove myself if possible until the feeling subsides. Gulp water, and get away from the kitchen. Watch a movie or call someone or go Internet shopping for all the clothes that you want to wear. You don't have to buy anything. Just make a plan for the times when you know you will want to falter. If you can make it one day, you can make it 10. The first day is always the hardest. I truly believe that if I can do this anyone can. You can. My best to you. And know that as I type this I am obsessing about food. I just know the joy I will feel tomorrow when I jump on the scale and it is down again. It will be worth it.
Hello... I have a friend who struggles with starting a water fast. She eats raw virgin coconut oil for 3 days until ketosis and then transitions into the fast. She swears by this because coconut oil absolutely kills people's appetite. It may not work for you, but its worth a go! Don't give up!
Hey there, thanks for the tip. I happen to have some coconut oil so gonna give it at try. I was planning on starting my fast in 3 hours, but now i'll just stop eating and drinking until i wake up in the morning and try with the coconut oil.
During the 3 days where she eats the coconut oil, she only drinks water, right?
No she drinks unsweetened herbal tea, water, and coffee with no cream or sugar. You can take it straight from the jar too in solid or liquid form. Either way will lead you into ketosis and lessen the transition into water fasting. Anywhere from 4tbs to 14 tbs of coconut oil will do it. I like my coconut oil in dirty chai tea. It's half chai tea/half coffee.
Besides supplements and doing a Liver Flush is there any other way of cleansing your liver? I am allergic to 99.99% of everything and very sick and need to cleanse badly. Any suggestions would be so much appreciated because I am feeling very desperate at this point.
Thanks for the reply Jhan. Unfortunately, I can't eat anything besides eggs and chicken as I am allergic to every other type of food. I can not handle pretty much anything plant based which also rules out the majority of supplements. I am losing hope as I have been researching for years and have not been able to find many people who are as bad as me. I really need to cleanse and I was hoping there was some way that I just haven't heard about besides all of the standard ways that people use.
Yes I agree. I tried to fast a few times but couldn't make it past 24 hours because I started to get light headed, most likely from low electrolytes. My body is already depleted of vitamins and minerals I'm sure from lack of nutrients in my diet. Based on what I've read, and I'm not sure if it's true, fasting up until 24 hours doesn't have any significant type of detox affect on the organs. It's frustrating because I am trying to work on my health and hopefully eventually overcome all of these allergies but I feel like the first step needs to be to cleanse but it's so hard when you can't take anything!
Hey Everyone! I apologize for my grammar erros in advance. SO, I have had Candida for about the past year. I have tried the diet, done different antifungals, eft, reiki, all with some progress but still not where I want to be. Right now my main symptoms are mild deppression, mild anxiety, and severe brain fog/cognitive disfucntion, lack of motivation, and fatigue. Right now I am currently sticking to the diet as my only source of Sugar is fruit which as far as a i know is okay and does not feed the candida? I am currently taking three lac as the only rememedy to get rid of the candida and it is helping some but i still like i am making very slow progress. Do you all think three lac can cure candida? is it okay to eat fruit but only fruit, no other sugars or alchohal? Lastly, what worries me the most is the loss of of some of my personality, creativity, and intelligence. in all my research that is possible if the candida is bad enough. is this true? Any feed back is much appreciated! Thanks!
I have notice my blue eyes are getting darker, the ring about my pupil who uses to be light green now is darker green almost hazzel, and i am getting some Brown spots and Brown pigmentations.
I made the terrible mistake of getting my lips inyected with silicone many years ago, after a few reconstructive suregeries still they cant take out all the silicone as is mixed with my flesh. I have 5 Amalgams fillings that i want to replace but my dentist says is not need for it and i cant find any dentist who knows how to take them out without creating more damage.
The fillings and silicon on lip i had them for more than 20 years ago, and my eyes are only getting darker and with Brown spots in the Last couple of years.
I have a cyst on my left ovary as well.
I am a heavy smoker for more than 20 years. Not sure if nicotine is causing my dark iris spots and the darkening.
I really want to become healthier and get my light blue eyes back.
Please can someone give me advice and opinión on what could be causing my iris darkening and which kind of detox i need?
I uploaded a picture of my left iris (the one who has darkened more). And will try to insert the eye picture here.
Thanks so much.
A Liver Flush is only a small sample of what you need to be doing according to your eyes. You need to detox the lymph and kidneys if you were a smoker for so many years that's where the metabolic wastes are not in the liver. I can see that with the lacunas in your eye. Adress the adrenals also
Use an iridolgy chart put it in photoshop and overlay your eye picture on top of that chart and turn down the opacity. This will show you where your weakness are just doing Liver Flushes is not a good idea
by the way that white foggy coat is lymph stagnation your eye should be clear eat a mono fruit diet such as a grape fast for 10 days or a grape lemon juice fast something astrigent to get that lymph moving. herbal tinctures would be a good idea to help things move along
