So I need some help figuring out the root cause of my constipation. I am an otherwise healthy 27 year old female who has been suffering from constipation for the last year and a half. I went through a heavy metal cleanse with different homeopathic medicines and tinctures under the care of a homeopath. This is when all my problems started. Previous to this, I had the normal 3+ bowel movements a day. Always had a good bm 20-30 minutes after eating and always complete movements. During the cleanse, I started having intense Sugar and carb cravings unlike anything I've experienced. I also became constipated and would go a day or two without a bm or I would only have one bm per day and felt uncomfortably full, like my digestion just went down the hole. The homeopath, through ART (autonomic response testing), said I had high levels of nickel, copper, cadmium, lead, and aluminum. During the treatment, I expressed the new issues I was having and she basically just kept switching out different homeopathic tinctures but the constipation remained and the bloating was just aweful. I decided to stop seeing her as she obviously didn't know what she was doing.
Fast forward to now and I am still struggling with the constipation. I did a lot of research and adopted an all raw diet as I also discovered that I had developed intolerance to a number of foods during my stint with the homeopath. Going all raw helped me for a while and I was able to achieve a bm everyday and sometimes several times in a day. But I still have days where I won't go at all and I can feel the food just sitting in there. I have been taking the Barefoot Herbalist's LBB herbs for a few months but I still only manage to achieve only one bm a day lately..if that. I drink plenty of water, my diet is obviously incredibly clean, I exercise 5-6 days out of the week and I do not take any prescription meds. I am honestly getting very frustrated trying to figure out the root cause for the change in bowel habits.
Here are my thoughts as to what might be causing the constipation/change in bowel habits:
*Parasites- I have never done a parasite cleanse but am preparing to soon. I have heard that they can clump up in the colon and cause a change in bowel habits. I occasionally will have very thin, pencil-like stools which leads me to believe that they are clumping up in my colon to cause more narrow stool.
*Over-burdened Liver- I have never done a Liver Flush or taken liver supporting herbs but I am also going to embark down that path here soon to see if that may help. I have taken prescription meds before in the past as well as antibiotics..just not very much or for very long. I also experimented with drugs as a teen as well as did my share of drinking. I do still smoke weed but wouldn't think that would have a huge negative effect regardless.
My last thought I'd that maybe the homeopath stirred up the metals and was not well-educated on clearing them from the body in the proper way so maybe they just re-circulated in my system and caused the constipation?! I really just need some advice as to where I should start in trying to fix this because I do not want to have to rely on enenas and laxatives of any kind! Please do not give me "constipation remedies" because I can assure you I have tried EVERYTHING out there as I have perished curezone as well as other self-healing sites and I do not want a "quick fix" solution but to rather get to the root of the issue. Thank you!

i have learned that the professionals may be right about constipation, it is caused by depression.
the colon holds a lot of serotonin, and when you are sad, nervous, or stressed all the time it causes the colon to seize up, and send the serotonin to the brain to compensate.
wish i could say go take an anti depressant as that relieves many people with constipation, but i don't and understand not wanting to make drug companies and doctors richer from your pain, plus the dangerous side effects associated with prescriptions.

Sman1109- I'm sure depression can lead to or be a cause of depression but I am far from being depressed and never really have been my entire life. I know that mentality affects bowel movements but I know for a fact that I do not have any mental issues that could or would be causing the constipation. Thank you for your reply!

Hummus got my constipation issues fixed.
They have different flavors of it. Mine is the Red Pepper Hummus.
I eat the whole container of it, about 10 oz. with my favorite crackers.
P.S. Cashews have a regularity effect on me also.
Eat cashews like dessert after your supper.
El cheapo halves and pieces work fine, and cost less than whole cashews.
Strangely my urine Serotonin is fivefold increased to the reference range (50-250 µg/g creatinine) and I got constipation instead of diarrhea.
Both low (<50 µg) and very high peripheral Serotonin causes constipation while slightly elevated Serotonin (>250 µg) causes diarrhea. But maybe very high Serotonin and constipation means something is wrong with the Serotonin receptors.
Another reason why chickpeas and cashews may be helpful in constipation is that they are high in magnesium (which draws water out of the blood into the colon opposite to calcium which draws water out of the colon into the blood), but soy beans are much higher in Mg.
hello, I was suffering from chronic constipation for almost a year. I am a male age 70.I also had difficulty with passing stools even though I eat high fiber and take Metamucil daily. Since I have diverticulosis the doctor scheduled a colonoscopy. That test was basically normal but the amazing thing is that it cured my constipation and restored my normal bowel habits. I can only assume this was due to the cleansing effect of the colonoscopy prep. I wanted to report this and ask if this kind of thorough bowel cleansing has helped others.
So I have had chronic constipation and resulting indigestion for almost two years now, and I had metametrix stool testing done a while back that said that I had a huge sensitivity to yeast and a positive test for parasites, but that the taxonomy was unknown for both. I have tried several things but not much has really helped.
tonight for the first time I tried an apple cider vinegar enema, using 3 tablespoons of vinegar in a 2 quart enema bag and the rest water. I wasn't able to retain it for long, so I'm sure the effects won't be dramatic, but I noticed that when I evacuated my bowels afterward that there was some white stuff floating around in the toilet water. I'm not sure if it was some kind of candida/yeast or if it was just mucous that came out after the acid wore it down.
I really would just like some thoughts on what it might have been, and maybe some advice as to whether or not to do this more and maybe some tips on retaining enemas longer. I just always really want to evacuate them and usually feel pressure in my lower descending/sigmoid colon even with plain water enemas. I don't know if that means that I have fecal blockage or build up there or that I'm simply not used to it.
I'm probably going to try doing this twice a week or so and update so people will know whether it helped or not.

I sometimes have problems holding an enema in, especially ACV. I find that after doing a couple of cleansing enemas first, it seems to clear up gas pockets or just opens things up to take in more water.
What works best for me is to start by taking in only 1/4-1/3 bag warm water on left side, release, then take in the rest on my back, release, then fill the bag and I usually can take the whole thing plus a little more by this time. After doing this once or twice, I can usually do a retention enema.
ACV is hard to hold for me though, reducing the strength might help, but I can't hold ACV long regardless. The best results I have had so far is using about a 1/3 cup to 2 qts water, and only being able to take in a small amount and hold for a moment or two.
I think you had good results and should continue. That white fluffy stuff could be yeast, or biofilm from worms or other parasites.
Yeah, I’ll try that. ... ... I’ve waited two weeks since my first go at it, because my enema bag ...
Yeah, I'll try that.
I've waited two weeks since my first go at it, because my enema bag has a slight crack in it that is very annoying because the contents leak out, so I'll try it out again tomorrow morning and see what happens. I think a huge part of it for me is just the pressure of the water. I read somewhere that clothes hangers are good to use for lowering the bag some when taking an enema. I'm going to try to get it down to only 2 feet if I can and just let it go in gently.
My main concern is that it isn't doing anything though. I mean it might be... the white stuff might be yeast or some harmful organism, but as far as I can tell it could also just be mucus that was denatured by the acid and turned more white... it's hard to say.
Still, there's no harm in even cleaning out the mucus, and colonic pH should be slightly acidic anyway, so I think I'm just always going to use vinegar whenever I give myself an enema now.
So I just did the enema for the second time this past weekend. I tried it with Epsom Salts this time because I had read somewhere that "plain water" is too hypo tonic compared to the fluids inside your intestinal cells and so it is readily absorbed and not fit for a retention enema. I now disagree with this concept entirely. I found the salt to cause too much discomfort and to make it harder to retain. I will not be doing this again.
This time I did two partial enemas before hand to flush out all fecal matter and then the ACV enema which I probably only held in for three minutes. My results were pretty much the same as before:
A little bit of some translucent/whitish stringy stuff came out with the water when I released it
Nothing else happened for several hours, after which more came out. I notice that the smell of the stuff is weird (yes, at this point I am entirely unafraid of smelling things that come out of my colon for clues). It smelled different from the vinegar though, completely, but it also wasn't foul smelling or like stool in anyway. It kind of smelled spicy.
I'm still not entirely convinced that what is coming out is candida. I think it may just be mucus, but my main problem is chronic constipation and maybe by clearing out excess mucus I will be helping reduce transit time some. Who knows... I just need to start retaining the vinegar for longer and see what happens with that longer exposure.
Anyway, then later that day I started to get sick. I still have a sore throat and I had a fever and chills beginning that night and lasting about a day and a half. I have hope that it was a herxheimer reaction, but still can't be certain.

I just did this same thing last week. I actually used a Epsom Salt enema because I things had not been moving for me. Then reading some posts about how great acv enemas were at getting rid of candida...I woke up extremely sick the next day...throat, thyroid area super inflammed, and my upper body-neck, back felt like I got hit by a truck. In my case, I learned that because I also have other parasites(which was made clear by the acv), they actually scatter to other parts of your body because they hate the vinegar so much. It was the vinegar that made the parasite issue abundantly clear for me ironically. I actually expelled some evidence. You may want to give some thought to whether or not this is also an issue for you. I had the same thing, chills and just felt terrible, definitely different than normal die off for sure. Whether yours really was and just from candida, I obviously can't say, just thought I'd share my experience as it was just last week.

You may also wish youtube how to take a large volume enema enemas. Including large volume ones. The sites are enemabag and optimalhealthnetwork have some really good ones.
even has a phone number you to can for more info. I hope this helps.
And you may want to add a tsp of uniodized Sea Salt - to help w holding the enema, and some herbal parasite cleanse (HPC),which I get from Creations Healing, to aid with parasite cleanse.

I believe Epsom "Salt" as an enema can be quite toxic. It is not actually a salt (sodium). It is a mineral, magnesium sulfate. It is a smooth muscle relaxer and used as a laxitive when taken internally. When you take it as an enema it can go directly into your bloodstream causing a magnisium toxicity due to lack of calcium. I do not understand why people still recommend this.
What you want is a natural and unbleached high quality Sea Salt this will not enter the bloodstream.
Have you tried cleansing from the top down? omit all forms of Sugar in your diet, and drink AVC in water as well as cleansing *sea* salt enemas and AVC & coffee enemas.
I used to be overrun with yeast as well. for many years, I cured with a very clean no Sugar or starch vegan diet for two months.

Hi I have had stool build up through out all of my intestines of teas which caused tremendous bloating (everyone thought I was pregnant.) it was horrible I was exhausted easily aggravated and so on. Since I found out what was causing all of this I began taking Miralax in green tea sometimes even a few times a day. Along with that I did a very strict cleanse for a week long. It consisted of ONLY fruits and vegetables no dairy no meat no bread. Anything you cook has to be cooked in oil, no butter, no sugar. Honey is okay. Along with eating like that I did a small squeeze enema after EVERY stool movement. You can do either ACV or lemon juice with distilled water. Last part was a drink I made every morning an hour before I ate and one more time at the end of the day an hour after I stopped eating which should be no later than 4pm during the week you're cleansing. The drink consists of 2 cups water 2tbsp psyllium husk, 1tbsp chia seeds, 1tsp activated charcole, 1tbsp Bentonite clay, and lemon juice. The psyllium husk and chia seeds will become jelly like and that might be hard for you to drink but that's exactly how you want it to be when you're drinking it.
Doing this changed my life so drastically I can't explain. If you choose to do this cleanse I know it will do that same for you! Goodluck
I used to be constipated from various meds and teas. I sanitized a comet toilet bowl bottle with a 4 inch angled head without nozzle and use that for a super enema.
This guarantees flush gets deep inside.
It's best to lay on your left side relaxed for a couple minutes, insert unit 1/3 full , squueze in mix till it feels that hot mix is deep inside,
Roll over on back , raise both legs up in air onto chair and squeeze some more mix in.
Hold in as long as possible. Then repeat three times.
I flush myself regularly 2-3 times a day minumum 5 days a week with hot well
water off tap and this custom mix.
