Hi. I have just finished the labor-intensive "Self Test For the Metabolic Types" by Dr. Kelley.
I am asking this question in the hope of saving time while I try to understand where to go next, and what to do to help myself.
I feel that time is of the essense. My joint and muscle pain level is high. No headaches though, thank God..
So here is the question:
According to Dr. Kelley, I am a Functional Type 1 with a Metabolic Subtype of 10.
I am having trouble concentrating enough to figure out what I should eat to rebuild and regenerate my metabolism.
What the blazes (According to Dr. Kelley) should I be eating, and how should I figure this out? I have gone back and forth between both of Dr. Kelley's books for 2 weeks now, and I still do not have a clear idea of how to proceed.
His system can be complicated. Here's a different approach. (1) Take the basic metabolic typing test, deterime if you are Protein, Carb or Mixed. (2) Go to the Blood Type Forum here at CureZone. (3)Eat the specific foods per your blood type in the carb, fat, protein proportions per your Metabolic Type.
This only works for the slow oxidizers. Be ware...there is no easy MT.
I am a fast oxidizer dominant and parasympathic; purines become a huge part of my MT diet. So I eat high purine proteins and vegitables. The ratios of protein, to fat, to carb also vary for each type.
I've been down the path you are on (I started MT about 2 years ago). I suggest you join the MT program by Dr. Mercola. Go to http://www.mercola.com and somewhere on the front page there should be a sign up for the mt online test and 3 months in the private forum with a naturopath trained in MT who helps us.
you receive a very detailed eating plan, w/specific foods and charts to measure and tweak your diet.
Mercola "bought" the right to modify Wolcott's online testing system.
I think this whole thing cost about $70.00 and it is so worthwhile!
Let me know what you decide to do.
What thebirdlady says is correct, the blood type diet doesn't work at all if you are a fast oxidizer (I'm one myself), but Kelley's systems takes this into account.
What I don't understand is that you say that you are type 1, subtype 10. According to the e-book I have (which is the one on his cancer cure, but which also deals with metabolic typing), type 1 contains the subtypes 1, 4 and 6, while type 2 contains subtypes 2, 5 and 7 and type 3 contains 3, 8, 9 and 10. So there's no type 1 subtype 10. Or does he use a different classification system in his other book?
Could you specify in the first place whether you are a sympathetic, parasympathetic of balanced metaboliser, because this is what makes most of the difference.
I had given up on this process and on this thread because I couldn't find anyone experienced with it..
*Thank you* for responding..
I think he may be using a different process in the "Self Test" book. He states in the book that one's subtype is a further refinement of the functional type (p. 73), bu somewhere in there he also states (IIRC) that the subtype represents a deviation from the desired original functional type.
So I was left with the impression that the Subtype is a temporary digression from the basic Functional Type, which one should strive to return to, and then following that 'return', to optimize into the next most efficient type.
What I am looking for is *dietary recommendations*, not an endless stream of bought supplements.
I am lucky in that, although I have quite a high level of joint/muscle pain, apparently I do not fit any diagnosable illness (For which I thank God).
I used the book "Dr. Kelley's Self-Test For The Different Metabolic Types" to work through the test. This book doesn't mention anything about having to be anything else before coming up a 10. I followed his spelled-out procedure exactly, and 10, then subtype of 1 is what the result came up.
I also have his booklet "Metabolic Typing: The Correct Nutrition For Your Body".
I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the classification system he uses in his self test book. I tried finding some information about it on the web, but there doesn't seem to be any available for free.
If you can tell me in words what is implied by "functional type 10" and "subtype 1", then I can try to find out for you what your diet should be. For example, do the test results say anything about being a sympathetic (= mainly vegetarian), parasympathetic (= mainly carnivore) or balanced (= mixed) type? And do they speak about being a slow (= mainly carbs), fast (= mainly protein and fat) or mixed oxidizer?
Number 56617 whatever you are doing it sounds like it is making you highly acidic, with all the joint and muscle pain you are. I would check out pH balancing and alkalizing, mineralizing and oxygenizing your system! Being acidic leaves you open to all kinds of complications and potential disease!
For example, as a fast oxidizer, I eat a lot of vegetables to get my alkalizing minerals, as I don't do well on (more than a small amount of) fruit.
I have asked this on Ask Moreless and, although he stresses much more the quality of the food, like for example for fruit ripe or not, in order to determine whether it will be alkalizing or acidifying, he agreed with it that your metabolic type does make a difference also.
Does it matter ! If you test for a certain type and it makes you ill or acidic its the wrong diet for you! The test are designed to fill the bill for every single person that takes it! Its hardly specific and infallible. Plain and simple if you test for a certain type and this diet makes you acidic it is wrong! The best test to decide what foods to eat is through listening to your body, the next is through the use of pH test stix ! If the food makes you sick or if the test stix tell you that you are acidic then make the appropriate changes , do not stick to a diet simply because it says to in a book!
Just focusing on diet alone you can still remain acidic due to other environmental factors. Look at all factors of environment that you are taking into and keeping in your body. This may be chemical, energetic, emotional, psychological, physiological. At the end of the day if you do not change your conditioned way of being to support your body your body will try to do it for you. You can make a list of unhealthy habits and begin there.
... ... ... It never ceases to amaze me how our bodies are uniquely equipped to scavenge and eliminate the literally thousands of different toxins we encounter on a daily basis. We are continuously exposed to things like environmental pollution, processed foods, pharmaceutical drugs, contaminated water, and countless other sources of exposure. ... ... ... And what’s even more amazing to me is that our bodies are designed to do all this… ... ... ... Even while we’re simultaneously metabolizing nutrients from the foods we eat, regulating our blood sugar levels, producing the hormones we ... [Image Embedded Here]

Milk Thistle extract(Silymarin) has been restricted in the EU by big pharma because they believe it will affect their drug sales. They have declared it as having medicinal properties which means that they can restrict it under the THMPD. I did not vote for Brexit because of immigration, I voted for Brexit because of Big Pharma's influence inside the EU. Hopefully the THMPD will be repealed and access to Silymarin will be allowed in the UK once we finally leave. I stick my two fingers up Big Pharmas Ass!
I suggest you investigate what they did to get THMPD passed into EU law, it cost hundreds of people their lives and the EU covered it all up, "investigated" behind closed doors and found no one liable. The Pharma companies laced herbal products which they manufactured with toxins which caused kidney failure in hundreds of people. Chances are that they will try something similar in the US.
I have been drinking 20ml castor oil in the morning on an empty stomach then 6 hours later doing a chammomile tea enema. I get a very strong detox.
I was interested in Liver Flushes but i am way too ill to do them. I cannot tolerate high doses of magnesium as i used to take them and it gave me a severe calcium imbalance. Now 100mg magnesium causes palps and pannic.
I DO NOT want anyone to try to convince me to take magnesium. I tried EVERY FORM.
What i would like to know is, are there any gentle liver flushes>
Or should i just continue with my castor oil flush?
I have some friends that have used just 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of olive oil and have gotten stones out successfully. Without the magnesium the ducts won't open up as much but it will still do some good. I've done it that way myself a couple of times and can confirm that it does work.
Brain power needs to be specially increased on urgent basis for parkinsons and alzheimers patients.
Doctors and hospitals simply presribe medication that have side effects and worsen the situation for patients in the long run. Fortunately now, there is advancement in treatment using pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy. This type of therapy is economical and boosts mental clarity, thinking processes and overall health of the user. It has also proven to have anti-aging effects. Research has been conducted by an American company known as EarthPulse, and it has come out with consumer device called EarthPulse Sleep on Command. This device is manufactured in India since 2002, and has more than 10,000 users worldwide. Great reviews can be found on their website. We have been using it from past 3 years with some amazing results for 95% patients. They even provide a 90-day money back guarantee for their users. To know more about PEMF therapy visit www dot pemfhealing dot in. It can be used by anyone regardless of age and the users get benefits of much clearer thought, increased intelligence, anti-depression, pain killer (back pain, joint pain), etc all from a single device. It has many program modes to help in deep sleep and rapid recovery. When we sleep deeply, we automatically recover from many illnesses. We don't get this quality of sleep more than 2 hours at a night for normal people. This device delivers deep sleep for 5-8 hours, thus enhancing body's self repair mechanism. PEMF is side effect free treatment. FDA has approved its usage in the US for treating depression and joint pain. Effects are felt within a few days of nightly use. EarthPulse is available in India on Amazon India. All the best!
Im on day 2 of 40 on water cleansing. Im doing it to cleanse my body bite me. Before, i maintained at about 1,100- 1,300 that suxx >:( anyway, i was curious if you guys know if thats going to decline my metabolism drastically? I heard water cleansing/fasting can make it go down up to 75% ! I know i'll gain 10 from water weight- and im going to eat slightly more to up my metabolism (with the right foods) but my question(s) are
How much lower do you think my maitenance will drop (700/ 800 cals a day)
How long will it take to up my metabolism after the fast (and consume slightly above maitainance to get my BMR higher) a month, two?
Which fat gets burned first, in terms of the time at which it was stored. In other words...Is the first fat burned the meals I ate recently, or is the first fat burned that which was stored from childhood? I tried searching around for this info on the internet but nobody seems to address this.
I am currently on a longer water fast and feeling the nasty detox symptoms. I ate a lot of unhealthy junk food when I was younger, but changed my diet dramatically in the last few years to eat healthier. So I'm curious as to which stored fat (long time ago, or more recent) I am burning first .
Whether you're training for an event, trying to increase your muscle mass or just want to get in better shape, your body relies on three main nutrients for fuel. Because your body can break down carbohydrates, muscle and fat for energy, understanding the order of nutrient breakdown can help you save or build muscle mass and increase fat loss.
Fat Preferentially Metabolized
When glucose and glycogen are not available, your body preferentially breaks down fatty compounds known as triacylglycerols which are present in adipose or fat tissue. Because fat is a high-energy source with nine calories per gram, fat provides an efficient fuel source. Additionally, your body metabolically prefers to preserve lean body mass and, when possible, breaks down fat stores for fuel as much as possible. Only when your fat stores are extremely low or depleted does your body have to then break down protein.
When glucose and fat stores are depleted, your body will then turn to muscle to break down into individual amino acids for energy. Unlike carbohydrates and fat, your body does not store amino acids, which is why muscle breakdown is the only way to release amino acids for fuel. In typical conditions where you are eating on a regular basis, your body will not use muscle for energy. Typically, protein is used for fuel only in a starvation state. Because you need muscle tissue to survive and move, the natural tendency of metabolism is to spare muscle tissue and break down carbohydrates and fat first.
This is a great topic and you are right that not much is written about this subject, the reason being there are no studies done and there are many variations that affect the results. I have done many fasts in my life. I can tell you that we are all different and different health conditions of the individual has an impact on what the body does to use for fuel.
In my experience, I have always lost fat in my cheeks and around my wrists first. This has happened in every fast in past twelve years. To me this is the most recent fat accumulated in these areas. Then I lose fat around my thighs and buttocks areas. Lastly my belly, which is the oldest fat that is always hard to get rid of.
These are my observations on myself, but we all know that Autolysis is a very selective and subjective process where body discriminates what to use first, get rid of and convert in to usable energy and then excrete the unwanted.
Good luck with your fasting, keep focus on drinking warm water as per thirst, resting and keeping warm. Take it one day at a time, you will do amazing with the fast.
For males the last bit of fat is stumic and chest for women is butt and legs.
NO such thing as spot reduction. Unless you get liposuction suction. Fun fact you don't remove the fat cell when dieting you just empty the fat cell. Only way to truly loss the fat cell is liposuction.
But for muscle cell when they are gone they are gone your body has to complete rebuild them.
I tend to loose mass everywhere at the same time. My usual BMI is 18.5 -19 and my fat percentage - about 26%. My cheeks run out of fat easier, since I have not much there anyway, but my stomach keeps it longer than legs and buttocks, which account for fast decrease in cloth size.
I feel I loose also a lot of fluids - water bind to minerals and or toxins, which accounts for some of the faster weight loss in the first days of fasting.
Muscles size tends to decrease as well - the fat between the muscle fibers is also burnt, together with the muscle glycogen and the water binding it, as well as some fluids from muscles too.
Overall the size (as opposed to number) of the cells decreases in all tissues, given enough time, with the internal organs spared up until starvation phase, unless breaking the pathological tissue plus healing is under way in them.
This is beneficial, since the internal fluids of the cells get renewed as well - hopefully with good nutrition after the fast.
- starvation takes really long to begin in a normally nourished individual -
