Because I am down the roads (another) 3 months, I have experimented with some supplements. I decided to post it, as it may (hopefully) contain some valuable info, if anyone ever may bump into this topic (while experiencing the same issues). What I lately found out was something regarding vitamin A (not the carotene one).
My Multi contains about 5000IU of vitamin A (3000IU is beta-carotene and 2000IU is Retinol).
However, I never took extra vitamin A, because I was scared of overdosing or experiencing side-effects. However, I took some cod liver oil (which also contains vitamin A, 3000IU). I already took alot of fish oils, so it shouldn't be the omega 3 affecting anything. The only difference, is the extra vitamin A in it. This would put me at 5000IU of retinol and 3000IU of beta-carotene (that's pretty much 8000IU, I still don't know if this is alot but I am scared of continuing this dose).
HOWEVER, the big difference is that alot of my acne has cleared up (not that it was bad, but I clearly had some pimples) over the past days. And it feels that the stuck feeling in my thyroid has become less too (altough I need to take the dose for a longer time to actually know if it's going to lessen that feeling, it might aswell be a placebo effect hehe. The pimples however really did clear up, as my skin also feels alot smoother now. Never thought this extra vitamin A would make that much difference.
It's so weird though. I am so sure that I get at least 400mg of magnesium daily, but I also work out heavily. On those days, I also apply topical magnesium oil. I take bigger doses orally and that would put me at 800-1000mg total (only on heavy workout days). The complex I am using right now is from Innate (http://eu.iherb.com/pr/Innate-Response-Formulas-Magnesium-300-Powder-4-7-oz-132-g/64716). U can find the info in the link, it's a blend of citrate, malate and glyicate.
Before this brand, I used the it's NOW one (used glycinate, but didn't like that one, so mainly citrate). Got some laxative effects on higher doses.
It's malate, so it might be less laxative and it has 500mg per serving. 100 doses per bottle, seems like a good deal right?? I don't know whether malate is a good source though, I read it was but could u confirm this for me?
Max you will need to take is 200mg, since the absorption is way higher than most pill forms of magnesium. But warning, these taste disgusting.
I can tell you for a fact, every time I stop taking iodine with salt I have major joint pain. I don't know why, I just know it happens. It makes my hands feel very stiff and if I go long enough without salt, I can barely move my wrists. The longer I go, the worse it gets.
From what I understand, Iodine releases toxins into the bloodstream, and salt is necessary to help flush them out. As far as your kindey stones, I have no clue, I've never researched that.
Hopefully I dont have worms lol - I've never craved ice cream in my life, even now!
I've only eaten ice cream like crazy two times in my life - Slurpees and Ben-and-Jerrys. I usually never even eat it. I ate the Slurpees everyday because I was trying to save money and 3 taquitos + a slurpee was a great deal. Then started eating ice cream everyday ONLY BECAUSE I wanted to find out which Ben and Jerrys flavor was the best lol.
And yea I have heard that low thyroid people crave ice cream, but couldn't find any link to metabolism. And the thing is - it only supercharges my metabolism WITH IODINE. Without iodine, it seems to work a little, but not nearly as effectively.
I still believe it has to do with the temperature, not the nutritional contents. When I switched from drinking a medium Coke with dinner, to drinking a Slurpee with dinner, the nutritional contents basically stayed the same - sugar, chemical flavors, dye.
Oh, goodness, the genetic thing was just a general comment. We all have genetic anomalies, and looking in from the outside doesn't always tell what's happening.
I had the same response to magnesium oil.
Sea salt is a nonprocessed salt, so, yes, it's good to use with your water. You just want to keep salt and water balanced so you don't feel dried up.
The group is fully moderated, and your post won't show up until someone is ready to answer it and approves it. All in good time.
I just realized that their monthly break will start tonight. That means that they close for one week starting the last Friday night of the month, and they will reopen next Saturday morning. You might be able to get one more post answered today, then you can think about what they say during next week.
