I have just started learning about the law of attraction. I tell you, I don't know what to think of it. I'm sure there is something to positive thinking, but the LOA frightens me a little, even though I'd like to use it, and I'll explain why. And I DO have a copy of the pamphlet It Works by RJH and have probably read through it many times in the last week. Please remember these are my own personal thoughts on the subject and not meant in any way, shape or form to pass judgment on ANYONE. I am not in your shoes, and I would never do that. These are my own honest observations that I'd love to open up a dialog on.
1) There seem to be so many charlatans out there "hawking" the LOA, selling some product to teach it to you, but if, as I understand it, it inherently belongs to each one of us, why make money off of trying to help others attain it?
2) I remember the old adage, as I'm sure all of you do as well, "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it." So I take those things very seriously. You really have to be careful. Many years ago in my supreme arrogance I begged God to give me a test to prove my faith in him. I sure did get one, and believe me, it's hard, and it will last me the rest of my life. I can explain that sometime later if anyone would be interested in knowing. Email me privately.
3) It seems to me that the LOA most often centers on attaining material wealth. Understand, I don't have any problem whatsoever with people being wealthy. I'm happy for you. But for some reason I feel inside that maybe shouldn't be the be-all and end-all????
4)Maybe this last one is borne of some misunderstanding or misinterpretation of things I have held dear almost my entire adult life. Is asking for material wealth and possessions before such things as peace of mind and being closer to God even right?? (Don't holler at me. These are honest questions and I want honest answers. I'm not being combative.) Yes, I am a Christian. I DO NOT ATTEND CHURCH. I DO NOT BELIEVE IN ORGANIZED RELIGION, as even that, ESPECIALLY that, is so interested in money. All the money that is spent on buildings to gather in could do so much good for so many.
But I do believe in sharing, helping, taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves, don't hate, treat everyone with respect, return evil with good, and I truly try to live those every day. And, of course, every day I fail miserably :)
So, given all that, after having read It Works, and really, really thinking about it, one thing he said in there that stands out is, knowing what you really want is no easy task. Who would've thunk??? He was right. I don't want anything material. I'm not rich, but I have enough to eat and a place to live, my bills are paid (most of the time), and I have two great kids and a great husband.
So, here is my conundrum: So far on my list I have a few things that do not involve money at all. Here's the kicker: The one BURNING desire I have is to amass a large enough sum of money to fund an endowment to build nonprofit, privately run group homes and assisted living homes where the developmentally disabled and destitute seniors can go to live and get great care from loving individuals and not have to worry about how it will be paid for or being mistreated in any way. Yes, I know, it's a huge dream -- and what does it involve? Money, of course. Ah, well ...
Last time I was on this forum, I was quite negative about the law of attraction. I came to the conclusion that it was a bunch of BS. I had worked several years at it and meanwhile I got divorced, I lost my home and all possessions except for a few clothes and books.
For some reason I just didn't give up. In these last few years I have learned that if there is only one block the entire law will not work. Finding that block has been a huge problem for me.
So far I have identified over 500 individual blocks. I keep a written record of the stuff I come up with.
So what happened since I last logged off of the LOA forum?
I gained a new home, totally paid off. But I still have no cash. I found a wonderful and intelligent new wife. I moved overseas and have no money worries, though I still don't have the cash I would like.
I see things changing for the better, it is slow, over 4 years I started my pursuit of the LOA.
I have helped several of my clients with the LOA and their businesses shot through the roof within months of doing sessions. But not everybody responds, many of our blocks are unique and have to be ferreted out one at a time.
I had a rather unusual block, whenever I would work with a client, I would take on their "lack" energy as a form of sympathy. Who would have ever thought of that? Apparently I have been doing that subconsciously for years.
