i just finished reading an article about Iodine and diabetes. the article talked about a heavy weight woman that went to the emergancy room for a problem and they discovered that she had diabetes. (her blood Sugar level was over 1,300 and it should average around 100) anyhow, one of the other tests come back with something else wrong for which the doctor presrcibed 50mg's of Iodine a day for. she called the doctor a couple of weeks later telling him that she wanted to stop taking insulin because she had low blood sugar. the doctor retested her blood Sugar and found that it was normal agian, (below 100) it seems that it was the iodine that did that for her. my question is has anybody ever heard of iodine doing that for to diabetes before? if so any guidlines on how much to take a day, and where i can buy it.
i would suggest that there are many things Iodine can fix and that as aggressive a protocol as you can muster is in order, no matter what.
diabetes can have several causes, but the lack of enzymatic action in the body is probably the most likely avenue of fixing a type2 case. it will depend on the reason for the diabetes in the first place. if lack of Iodine played a part in the cause, it will play a part in the cure as well when it is sufficiently supplemented.
we welcome your participation and look forward to nothing but good reports! its obviously happened before. we have our very own reports of it here(thanks, snakeater).
The last time I listened to that interview, I took notes, let me try to make sense out of those notes:) this is what I've got....diabetics have plenty of insulin, but the sensitivity of the insulin receptors needs to be increased. Now, if other halogens(chlorine, fluoride & bromide are taking the place of Iodine on those receptors, absolutely, Iodine therapy can help. I believe we're talking about type 2 diabetes here.... ?
Also, the sodium Iodide symporter(NIS) figures in here somewhere(sorry, my notes are fuzzy).
“In the Type 1 diabetics that we have been following we have noted that if C-peptide is measurable, this would suggest that the individual is making their own insulin. I have been able to help this group of patients to get off insulin or to greatly reduce the amount they need for good glucose control with Iodoral at 4 tablets/day (50 mg). If C-peptide is absent then we feel there is no insulin being produced and we have not been able to help this particular group of patients to get off their insulin. We have been able to help these patients lower the total amount of insulin needed to control their glucose.”
Lugol's iodine is available from http://www.jcrows.com
~search his posts, I'm sure he's running a special offer.
Thanks for mentioning this newport as I've been meaning to post my info.
I've been dealing with mild insulin resistance and cravings for awhile. Iodine helped but recently my acupuncturist suggested adding r-lipoic and evening primrose.
He said the resreach in Germany on it is extensive and good.
100mgs r-lipioc AM and again PM
50mgs evening primrose with it
Has just about stopped my cravings for chocolate and Sugar these days. With that and Iodine I've dropped one size in the past few weeks!
I can't give you any information except my experience. I am not diabetic, but I was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, also called Syndrome X several years ago. This basically means I am insulin resistant with borderline readings for both diabetes and high blood pressure. Since diabetes tends to run in my family (maternal grandfather and father both had maturity onset type II diabetes), I bought a glucometer to monitor my blood Sugar levels. When I am eating normally my blood Sugar usually runs in the high normal range. When I add 50-75 mg of Lugol's daily, my blood sugar is well within the normal range with the same diet. When I eat lots of veggies, some fruits and avoid grains, my readings are even better. My blood pressure has also lowered with the use of Iodine and increasing my water intake.
My discipline is not perfect, and frankly, I don't want to be perfect. There are times I want to eat what I please with friends and family. I try to do better when at home and take the supplements I need to get healthier so I can indulge in treats from time to time.
Metabolic Syndrome is a plague among baby boomers who were the first generation to really be born and grow up in the world of processed and refined foods and extensive environmental toxicity. If you were born between 1946 and 1966, and raised with the Standard American Diet (SAD), then you are at a greater risk for diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, gallbladder disease and other ailments. I have learned so much at Curezone to help me address these problems before they take hold of my life and I risk becoming dependent on medications. I believe with all my heart and acquired knowledge that Iodine supplementation is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Properly used iodine can help us detox from environmental poisons, reverse damage we have already allowed to happen in our body and hopefully prevent diseases in the future.
While these statements are my own doing based on my experiences and research, I believe many of the regulars on this forum will both confirm and add to them.

I had Type 2 diabetes and controlled the Daibetes with the standared diet and excerise with Monthly glucose avg levels of 98-108. The first month after introducing Iodoral ( tablet form of Lugols) at 100 -150 mg per day the monthly average dropped to 78. The 3 month avg is 81. I'm currently at 200-225 mg day of combination Iodoral and Lugols.
This much Iodine is not for everyone and you should start slowly if your diabetic at 50 mg and work your way up to 100 mg.
You need to start the vit c, Selenium, magnesium, salt pushes at lesast a week before you begin then Iodine IMO. Please read the "R" messages for further details.
These are my personal results; your may and will vary and depend on how much de-tox your willing to put up with.
