I went throgh a period where my skin was dry....that went buh-bye though & I know other people have reported this as well. The skin uses 20% of the Iodine in the body so I'm thinking that upon supplementing Iodine we can expect to see changes as the skin adjusts....
When I got up to 10 drops a day, my arms got very itchy and I don't know if that was cause of dryness or if it was just a detox thing. I stopped the Lugols after three or four days of extreme itching and I've been off it a week, hoping the itch would calm down. It has calmed, but they still itch! I've used every cream and therapy I can think of to stop the itching, but nothing has really worked. I even made a Lugols/VCO cream for my arms and feet which are also dry, which I will continue to use.
BUT I miss the Lugols internally and I am going back on it tomorrow. I plan to just go to maybe 6 or 8 drops a day and stay there. All you can do I tweak the dosing and see what works for you.
I pretty much know where the problem areas are in my body. One of them is the Lymph system, especially on my left side (Entire left side of body).
If you check a good Foot Reflexology chart, the upper left foot where it joins the ankle (The 'hinge' area between instep and ankle) is the reflex area for the left-side Lymph system.
That area began itching like *crazy* after I started supplementing with Lugol's. As the itching abated, left ankle swelling went down. I checked the ankle skin, expecting to see it red/dry. It wasn't, but it sure did itch.
Also in other areas where I know for a fact there are localized problems, I could actually feel the Lugol's working on the boundaries of those areas, and, even internally (Where I couldn't scratch it), the sensation was like an itch/activation.
