Good news, I have a diagnosis after a Hydra breath test and a stool test. Hooray!
(Full Test results at the end of this message.)
I have : "SIBO, Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, is a possibility as is a histamine intolerance/bacteria induced histamine intolerance."
I have googled this and read much. The symptoms perfectly match mine, (although i know it could still be something different) & i seem to be a fairly advanced example:-(
There are plenty of different ways to tackle SIBO:
C)antibiotics + probiotics
D)herbs like grapefruit extract, oregano oil, garlic, pau d'arco, olive leaf extrat, berberine etc, & probiotics.
-as well as the usual special diet requirements, which i'm doing already.
Lots of articles recommanded hitting it hard to start with, ie. the antibotics then followed by the more natural remedies.
My doc says he uses antibotics, but i am very much against this, as this is most likely one of the reasons this long journey started.
Any thoughts & advise much appreciated.
Helicobacter pylori test: negative
Stool Test (ova, parasites, hyphal/fungal): negative
Glucose Bacteria: high
The high reading for the Glucose Bacterial Overgrowth test has two typical peaks.
Peak one: 93 ppm
Peak two: 53 ppm
Looking at the medical history and the momentarily health complaints, SIBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, is a possibility as is a histamine intolerance/bacteria induced histamine intolerance. The stool test should be repeated in approx. three months.
Chronic fatigue, weight loss and increased food intolerances can be a result of bacterial over-expression.
Sibo refers to a condition in which abnormally large numbers of bacteria (at least 100,000 bacteria per ml of fluid) are present in the small intestine and the types of bacteria in the small intestine resemble more the bacteria of the colon than the small intestine.
The antibiotic Rifaximin is often prescribed in cases of SIBO, but has some significant side-effects.
I prefer a special eating programme with some short-term supplementation and a programme to eliminate bacterial overgrowth.
We will discuss the details during our next session.
Well, I'm not a doctor obviously, so I can't give "professional" advice, but speaking from experience, I am in the state I am in now, health wise, mostly due to antiobiotics. I was told that unless you have a serious, life-threatening situation, antibiotics should try to be avoided. I wish my parents had known that when I was a child. Any time I got a cold or the flu and/or bronchitis (which I ended up getting a lot from a weakened immune system due to antibiotic overuse), I was put on an antibiotic and never any probiotics. Back in those days no one kenw what probiotics were. If I were you, I would try to hit it hard with the natural stuff as much as possible and see how it does. If it doesn't work, you can always try the antibiotics. If you do do the antibiotics, be sure to flood your body with as much megadopholus as much as you can tolerate and stay off the Sugar (which you already know) while you're doing it. Hope this helps in some way.
Re antobiotics....You and me both! Thats what i was given when i had a cold or flu, thats what everyone was given in our youth, and I was very prone to colds and flus, very prone indeed. I must have had at least 10 courses. I remember having 2 for acne.
I have also read a lot about antibiotics recently and learned just how effect they are against the Flu. Apparntly they are not effective in the slightest.
My gut instinct (ho ho ho) tells me not to touch them with a barge pole, but i'm not a professional either, so it's tricky to know what to do.
I belive that's a "hydrogen breath test", not a "hydra breath test". If you have a small intestine full of Hydras I suggest that you contact Jason and the Argonauts immediately. And while only Jason may possess the Golden Fleece, any old MD can fleece you for gold. Words to live by.
Sunshine, I've got something for you to go read!!!!!
A buddy at NaturalCures.com sells this product and is talking about it all the time. It's a probiotic that is all organic, and it has 13 probiotics so a person would get the full spectrum of good bacteria.
