yes, I drank probably 4oz of spoiled aloe juice. It tasted fine. But when I poured the second time, some transparent round gel like thing came out of the bottle. It's the "Lily of the desert" brand that says no preservative, etc. Is this transparent thing mold? How dangerous is it? and can I reverse it? I may feel fine, but could it be bad for the health in the future?
thanks for your help.
It's always good to follow directions and that includes expiration dates that are put there for a reason. No one knows what that could be in the aloe vera after it's past it's date. If you get sick by taking something past it's exp. date then you have no recourse of action or can't file any liability claims because the directions were ignored. Besides, alot of products lose their potency after a certain time so you might not be getting all the benefits.
I drink aloe vera juice all the time. Was the date on the bottle expired?
It doesn't sound spoiled to me... it sounds like part of the aloe didn't get mixed up into the juice.
I grow it and some times use it fresh. When I use it that way, I have to cut the outer leaf away, and the inside is has a pulp-like substance that sounds like what you saw. It doesn't come out in the form of juice, although it is juice-like.
If it didn't taste bad or smell bad or make you sick I'm sure it was ok. I've never had it go bad on me - I think it stays good for quite a while.
