My husband and I started the Master-Cleanse this Monday(this is day two). The day before we started I woke up with a Bladder infection. I decided to start the cleanse anyway(because we had focused so many things around it) in hopes it would flush the infection. This is day two of the cleanse and I still have the infection. It is painful and I'm wondering if I should take an antibiotic or wait it out. I'm thinking a antibiotic would mess the whole cleansing process up. I don't want the infection to spread. I have Multiple Schlerosis too. Any suggestions from anyone???
Are you drinking a lot of water? I have had quite a few bladder infections in my lifetime and I find that if I drink lots of water and cranberry juice it goes away within 2 to 3 days. Since the cranberry juice is not an option during the Master-Cleanse I would drink lots of water and wait it out for a couple of days. I dont know how the Multiple Sclerosis plays into bladder infection, but maybe you should be under a doctors supervision while doing the MC.
My boyfriend and I also started The Master Cleanse on Monday. I started symptoms of a urinary tract infection on Friday or Saturday. I bought the liquid herbal extract UVA-URSI as I had read that it was helpful with UTI's. I started on the herb and was feeling better by Monday morning, so I stopped taking it to proceed with the cleanse. By Tuesday I felt as if the UTI was back. I took one dose of the herb last night and I do not have any UTI symptoms this morning, but I am really trying to do the cleanse by the book. Anyway, I just thought I would pass on the info regarding the herb. Please let me know how you make out and best of luck to you and your husband.
I'm not doing the MC, but I am on a detox program too. I have been having recurrent bladder infections since july. I have done two courses of cipro (stupid me) to no avail. Depending on how severe your symptoms are, here are some things that might help:
Two over the counter meds from the drug store: cystex and uristat (or generic Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride). Neither of these will cure you, but they are good for urinary discomfort. Cystex has acetometaphine in it.
There are several places on the net that suggest drinking baking soda water. I have used this for some relief, but it didn't cure me. Several other places on the net recommend Alka Seltzer Gold (no aspirin or tylenol in the gold package). This is similar to baking soda - basically raising the acidity of your urine so the little beasties can't hang on to your bladder wall. (this didn't cure me either)
Since I just started having symptoms again this week, I just purchased d-Mannose. I haven't taken it long enough to tell you how it's working yet. I'll report back.
