If anyone can help me, then I would SO appreciate it. I know this cleanse is not for weight loss but the main reason I am doing it is for that reason. I am extremely healthy and I excersise regularly. I have had health complications this year and had a nutritionist put 8 lbs on me by accident. I am on my 6th day and I feel great and have done my yoga, pilates, light cardio every day. I used to be a trainer so I know the drill on how not to lose muscle during a fast such as this. I have lost gone from 115.6 to 115.0 in 6 days. I have 6 to 7 glasses a day and I keep the maple syrup to 1 1/2tbls. I am doing the morning slaine flushes and herbal tea at night. I am following this perfectly and I do feel good and I am not very hungry. The only bad thing is I am NOT losing weight. I am getting very discouraged. Can anyone tell me what they think? Do you think because I am so healthy and my body is used to drinking protein shakes instead of consuming a lot of food and thats why I am experiencing weith loss resistance? Do you think if I go 10- 14 days I will suddenly lose 5 lbs or mnore? Please help!!
How tall are you? Your weight would be considered normal for women 5'2" to 5'4". For anyone taller, it would be considered underweight. The good thing about cleansing is that it helps normalize your weight. If you are at a safe healthy weight, it is unlikely you will lose very much. The Master Cleanse is not a starvation diet, and chances are you not not lose more weight than it is safe to lose. The Master-Cleanse works with the body's inate wisdom and cleanses what needs to be cleansed and does not allow the body to devour itself. This includes the necessary and healthy body fat. When you force the body to lose beyond its natural weight, it digests muscles and sometimes organ tissue, every body, especially a woman's body needs a certain amount of body fat for optimum health. Perhaps its time to concentrate on the real benefits of Master-Cleanse which is whole body cleansing and detoxification and forget the numbers on the scale.
The only time I would ever recommend The Master Cleanse for weight loss is for extremely obese people who need to more or less shut down and "reboot" their digestive system and then be able to follow a lifetime of healthy eating habits.
Thank you so much for your quick response. I am overwight now though. I am only 5 feet tall and my weight is always a very healthy avg 105lbs. I had medical issues this year and the nutritionist shot my weight up. Friends and family couldnt believe the weight gain so Yes I do need to get it off. I was hoping this would get me back to my normal healthy weight and cleanse my system naturally. Having said that, do you think if I go 10 days and the weight doesnt change should I stop or should I go to 12 or 14 days?
Continue the cleanse as long as you feel the need for it. What exactly did your nutritionist do to cause the weight gain? I am very curious about that. Once your cleanse is over try a diet very high in nutrient dense low calorie foods like leafy green vegetables. Eat plenty of raw fruits and veggies. Dr. Joel Fuhrman has a book called "Eat To Live" that gives a six week weight loss diet, plus a lifelong eating plan that will help you quickly lose any weight you need to lose quickly and safely. You should lose about five pounds on the MC, but since you are not all that heavy, weight loss will be slower for you than an obese person. Try not to lose too fast because that usually will slow down your metabolic rate and future weight gain will be more rapid and weight loss be much slower. A healthy balance of cleansing, eating and exercising will help you safely and successfully lose the weight and, with a proper diet, keep it off. I wish you well and great success; remember that you are doing a very good thing for your body and health even if you do not lose all the weight you want to.
I don't think excess weight has to be extreme to be unhealthy. Loss of excess weight is definitely a part of cleansing-- no substance stores toxins like fat!
Remember if you are overweight and losing fat rapidly while fasting that you need to pay special attention to your daily colon cleansing routine and drinking extra water. One of the toxins typically stored in fat is DDT, something you want OUT as quickly as possible!
Another comment on fat. There is recently stored fat, and old stored fat. Ever cut up a chicken? That jelly-like goopy fat is an example of newly stored fat, while the solid stuff is older. Newly stored fat burns easily and quickly, while deposits of solid, old fat can be quite stubborn -- perhaps one reason why it is harder to lose weight as we get older.
While fasting is NOT a magic bullet for weight loss (we really must focus on a sensible diet and exercise program post-fast if we hope to maintain the loss), it can certainly be a great beginning to a new and healthy lifestyle.
AND... DO consider doing a series of liver flushes, hopefully before you begin your fast, and again after recovering from the fast to help establish a strong metabolism to burn fats efficiently.
im sorry i havent tried The Master Cleanse so i cant comment on that but have you tried oil pulling? i spend a couple weeks pulling and drank a couple lemon/OO drinks and i lost about 1/2 stone that i couldnt lose before (i tried raw food diets and limited calories etc etc but nothing happened till the oil!) you can visit the oil pulling support forum to find out more if you havent already!
i am talking weight loss too! lol! i took the OO/lemon before i knew anything much about cleansing. i didnt have kidney stones that i knew of.
what happened was, i started oil pulling and then my body just kind of went into detox mode i guess. i lost my appetite completely and was doing a sort of water/herbal tea fast. (i was making it up as i went along, just doing what my body wanted since i didnt know anything at that point!)
then i took the OO/lemon a few days after i started oil pulling. i had already dropped a few pounds just from the oil pulling combined with the fasting. then i lost more weight. i got additional benefits (skin, higher energy etc) from the OO/lemon but the most dramatic part was the weight loss.
i couldnt shift this weight until i started with the oil pulling even when i fasted last year the weight did not drop. so i thought the oil pulling might work for you! i dont know where the OO/lemon fits into all this, i just mentioned it since i thought it maybe related to weight loss too... sorry i am so uninformed just wanted to suggest on the offhand it would help!!!
Oh I totlayy misunderstood from your message then! OK Yes this sounds VERY intreesting. Where do i go to read about this pullin oil? Whats the link? How long did you do it for? I need to lose 10lbs preferably. The Master-Cleanse is brutal because it is for 10-14 days. I am doing it but it's not easy for that lenght of time. Im not hungry but part of my job is to take people to lunch and dinner so its especially difficult going for 2 weeks this way!
How long did you do this for and where do I go to find out how to do it? Thank you so much for this info!
get a good unrefined organic oil. i use olive oil. you can use any oil you like the taste of pretty much.
on an empty stomach, take about a tbsp, put it in your mouth and swish. if you have a lot of toxins coming out you might find the oil 'fills up' quickly (for me, when i started i could only stand to have the oil in my mouth for a few seconds because it would absorb the toxins and get a rancid chemical/toxic kind of taste very quickly). this is ok, it just means you have to spit out and refill.
if you use other oils eg sunflower ive heard from others that you just swish until it turns white and watery. so far my experience of olive oil is that it goes opaque and gloopy when its filled with toxins. i usually go by taste and spit out when it starts to taste toxiny. though recently after fasting, herbal detox and OO/lemon drinks, and getting my cavities filled (i got them before i discovered oil pulling) i havent tasted toxins at all. the oil does still go opaque and a little watery.
you can pull anything from 5 minutes. sometimes i pull for 10, sometimes for as much as 45. it depends what mood im in! when i first started i was pulling 4/5 times a day.
after you finish, you can rinse your mouth with salt water. you prob want to gargle too. i also brush with salt water, and before i had my cavities filled i put a little Colloidal Silver in there too. some people use toothpaste, some people use baking soda, its up to you. most people on the oil pulling forum have gave up toothpaste as far as i know because of the toxic chemicals and glycerin in toothpaste. personally since i started pulling and gave up toothpaste my mouth has never been healthier.
also, after you finish you probably feel like drinking some water. i usually down about a pint of water and for some reason after that i crave to have linden blossom tea so i drink that too. the body needs fluids after pulling i guess!
ive had truly amazing results with oil pulling, its so simple id recommend it to anyone!
for more info, take a look at the oil pulling forum:
hey nick i havent been able to find out much about OP. i use Olive-Oil cause olives are mentioned in the Quran/hadeeth but i would love to find out more - can i bug you for some info? or should i just have a look at the archives in the OP forum?
which said this at the bottom under the "Precautions" heading:
(c) Sunflower and Sesame oil have been found to be equally effective in curing diseases. Other oils were not found to be as good. Do not blame oil pulling by practicing with other oils. Use refined oils.
I'm sure if you ask the question, though, someone will answer it, there are a lot of very knowledgeable people here who do oil pulling.
Thank you for your response. I recognize your name from the forum as I have read your other entries. Clearly you know this diet. I will definitely do the liver cleanse as suggested. Is the liver cleanse just for one day? I couldn’t tell from the little I just read on it. If not, then how long do you suggest doing it for me?
Your message was very precise for anyone reading this. However, I was hoping to get a little more info for myself. I was trying to express in my original message that I am very healthy and drink nothing but water. I have been a fitness trainer and competed in fitness contests in the past. I am only saying this to get the point across that I have always lived a more than healthy lifestyle, and have been educated for over 20 years on nutrition. This year I had medical issues and against all my better judgment listened to dieticians and a nutritionist of an HMO that made me gain a lot of weight for me personally. I am only 5 ft tall and I put on an extra 10lbs which is BRUTAL for my body type to lose easily
Having said that, my question in regards to the Master-Cleanse is for a very fit person who has always eaten well and drinks nothing but herbal teas and water and has done Colon Cleanses in the past. Does it sound normal to not lose any weight in the first 6 days? I was really hoping to not only cleanse my body but to lose this extra 10 lbs or at least 8lbs of it! The second question is do you think I will see more weight loss at 10 days? Do you suggest someone like me trying to do the Master-Cleanse longer like 14 days if I dont lose the weight? I was hoping to get away with only doing 10days of the MC. Just as you said, fat loses the toxins first so I am not seeing any weight loss. I am getting a little frustrated and dont want to do this any longer than necessary for cleansing purposes. The only reason why I would do the MC longer IS for weight loss. Any suggestions for me on this? Thank you for any further help you may have! Oh and I have maybe lost 1 1/2 lbs in 6 days.
also, ive read that oil pulling is like doing a mini liver cleanse - it stimulates the liver so maybe that is why i lost the weight when nothing else would work. so thats why i thought maybe you could try it along with the MC. its great for fasting cause it gets the toxins out too.
If there is excess fat, it is unusual for it not to burn first. However, the body cleanses according to a certain order, and apparently fat is not its first priority in your case. This would indicate to me that other issues are being dealt with, and that you must indeed have needed this cleanse! Good for you!
I NEVER get on the scales until I am through with my cleanse. As weight fluctuates, if you are focused on "a pound a day" you can become disheartened. My advice to you would be to wait until day ten to make any decisions. If by then you have not attained your goal, consider doing another 5 days.
A couple of things: NEVER break a fast on a low. If you reach day ten and do not feel wonderful, fast through until you do before breaking. DO drink lots of extra water every fasting day. Half your weight in ounces is a good rule, in addition to the lemonade. Help your body to flush flush flush! Be religious about the colon cleansing routine every fasting day.
Of course, you will drink OJ for a day after the MC, then you will be eating lightly for a few days through the break. You may well continue to lose a bit more weight during this period.
According to what you said there should be no need to stress a sensible diet and exercise plan post fast to help keep the weight off!
