Okay, I'm working my way into the cleansing thing, and I did notice for several days after I did a Salt-Water-Flush I had no body odor. But here's another use for coconut oil... put it on your underarms as a deodorant! I was enamored of it already for smelling wonderful, soft skin, cooking and oil pulling, but then I tried it on my underarms, just on a whim.
OMG! It worked! It works as well as the store-bought deodorants! I am so pleased I have one less conventional toiletry to buy. I read somewhere that it had antibacterial and antifungal properties, which is what gave me the idea. It is amazing stuff. I am starting to think of it as a gift from God, along the lines of garlic -- another amazing natural cure-all, but a stinkier one!
I keep checking my underarms and there is no "sour" smell there any more. After a day or more the coconut oil wears off and I start getting an earthy smell, but not bad. But I think that's how often most people use the aluminum-based store bought antiperspirants, don't they? It's been several days I've been using coconut oil instead of stick deodorant, and I am IMPRESSED with the results.
P.S. I'm using cold-pressed organic virgin coconut oil with a melt point of 76 degrees. Paid $14 for 32 oz. Dr. Coconut brand. Very happy with it. Just ordered some LouAna... does anyone have any experiences with this brand? THANKS!
OMG, this really does work. I started using it as a deoderant (thanks to this msg.) a few days ago. Additionally, I started using it as a skin & hair moisturizer. I've been taking it internally for at least a week. I noticed my skin broke out a bit when I first started taking it internally, but I know that was a good thing (and somewhat bad thing - I was suffering from severe constipation (always happens before "the time of the month",) my body was cleansing itself via my skin - I started drinking Psylilum (sp?) and water/juice two days ago, I'm regular again & my skin is healing.
I also give my dog VCO everyday. So far, so good. He loves it.
I threw away the lotions, hair conditioners & hair moisturizers & my deoderant. I threw away the "cans of PAM" and will be cooking with VCO.
I'm going to purchase more jars of this. I also will add coconut milk and meat to my diet.
I am so going to try this!! Will it still work if one tried to work out at the gym, do you think?
I used coconut oil for the first time last night as a body lotion becayse my skin was gettign dry - OMG even after showering and using tea tree oil soap this morning my skin is soooo soft and smooth. Love it! The brand I got was cheap though so it smells a bit icky, but I'm a student and can't afford the best coconut oil out there (I think I paid $10 for a litre), so c'est la vie! That litre will last forever though - and now I get to use it as a deodorant!! No more pricey body lotions! yay!
