Has anyone here been cured using Andy Cutler's protocols? I had my Amalgam fillings removed about a year and a half ago. I am still not feeling well - I won't go into the whole host of issues I'm having. But basically, anytime I had trid to take any sort of chelating agent, I would feel literally crazy. I took a break for awhile from metal detox/chelating agents since I couldn't handle them, and started doing other types of cleanses. I've done candida cleanses, liver cleanses, parasite cleanses etc, but the more I read, I'm finding out that until you remove the mercury from your system, all the other types of cleanse won't help. So I guess I'm back now to trying to chelate again.. You'd think that after a year and a half of getting my Amalgams removed, that the mercury would have gone out of my system by now. So as I said, I'm looking to start another mercuty detox/chealting agent. I'm not sure how to move ahead. I'm looking for something that will get rid of the mercury once and for all, but also something that will not make me absolutely crazy while detoxing. I'm getting desperate here. I'm a little hesitant to start Cutler's protocols because it calls for a lot of synthetic supplements which I'm very sensitive to. I'd love to know if his protocols has actually cured anytone. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. thanks.
What sort of metal detox have you tried? If you went crazy, you weren't taking the right supps or taking too much. No it wont come out after a year on its own if its in the organs/brain.
Cutlers is the best for chelation, you can take it very slow and stay in control of the process as far as possible. I have also gone 'crazy' but if I take very low doses, I'm fine. I'm not saying its an easy process and it can be very slow but people are getting better who got worse doing other metal 'detoxes' and it has cured lots of autistic children. It doesnt mean taking lots of synthetic supps, for chelation you just need to take either DMSA or DMPS, and alpha lipoic acid which is the main chelator is a regular supp. Apart from that you need antioxidants like vit C and E and minerals esp magnesium, selenium, zinc. You will probably need some sort of adrenal and thyroid support.
Buy Cutlers book and visit these groups for more support as this forum isnt very active.
I have to say I did not take alot of supplements, just started with 12.5 mg DMSA every 4 hours for three days a month. I still have a candida problem. I too am very sensitive to supplements, and foods too. I did at one point take a little bit of Isocort. The DMSA makes me feel really good at first, but it encourages yeast, and that catches up with me. I put alot more time between chelation rounds, I wouldn't do it more frequently than 3 days a month. Usually I do it every two months.
I did reduce Sugar a lot, and cut out processed foods, and all grains except occasional rice. I think Andy Cutler is on the right track, but I would not take alot of the drugs he seems to think are ok. Drugs are very bad for your body. And I think he can be more open to the different cleanses. I understand people react to these, but I think if they are done slowly and carefully most people will be fine. I do take herbs now.
Thanks to all of you for your info. I have 14 Amalgam fillings and am now having slight nervous system problems, Im only 28 years. I read in Sherry Rogers' book Detoxify or Die that the Captomer is same stuff just cheaper and without prescription - 45 caps for $100 from Thorne Research on needs.com. I also have yeast problem - is the yeast increase problem unavoidable during chelation due to that hiding mercury floating around in the system while the body tries to eliminate it? Is there an effective chelator that does not promote yeast? These are very important issues to me. I appreciate thoughtful responses.

******All Amalgam must be removed before taking ANY chelator!!

******Caution! Sherry Rogers promotes inappropriate use of alpha lipoic acid. ALA is a chelator and must be taken on a proper chelation schedule (after all amalgam has been removed) or not at all. Many people have suffered needlessly by following Sherry Rogers' advise.

********She's right about that. Captomer = DMSA

******** Yeast or gut dysbiosis of some sort does tend to go along with mercury poisoning and some people have more problems with it during chelation. Gut problems can be minimized simply by following an anti-candida type diet (avoidance of grains and sugar), a diet with plenty of fresh vegetables, adequate protein and good fats, and supplementing various nutrients plus probiotics.

****** Good luck, you found a good forum, but it seems to be quiet here lately....
