Im on day 4 of the diet and nothing is happening. I was expecting to feel awful from day 2 through to day 5 or 6. I am taking the vitamin and mineral suppliments I am supposed to. I am eating only plain yogart, brown rice, scrubbed and washed green vegetables and either meat or fish.
Can someone also tell me where I can order P&B shakes online, thank you.
You WONT get any die off just from following the diet. Actually, just doing the diet you will heal smoothly over the coming years, slowly starving candida.
But then again, no one wants to spend 5 years on the diet, just to avoid a bit of die-off.
When you start the cleanses.... then you MIGHT feel die off. Die-off refers mainly to unease due to too much presssure being put on your metabolism . If you do not rush it and take the right supplements you should not feel to bad. When you start feeling die-off symptoms, you will want to slow down on any cleanse you are currently doing.
Die-off is not the same as expelling candida threads, although it sometimes comes along. After 3 to 4 weeks on the P & B shake you can expect to start expelling threads. If die off occurs, cut down on the shakes.
P and B shake is a mix that you make yourself. You go to your health store and buy some psyllium husk and some Bentonite clay (liquid is better- it is easier to mix it). Here is the basic recipe and some online stores in case your health stoer does not carry these: http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=308&i=25
Just thought I should tell you that I experienced a hell of a lot of die off with diet alone in the beginning. I couldn't function combining the diet with antifungals, so had to remove the latter. I went through weeks of die off symptoms and passed near black BMs loaded with candida threads (great big ones) for weeks.
It was only later, having reached a healing plateau, that I could reintroduce anti fungals, as i have recently, in an attempt to complete my treatment.
I think it depends on the extremity of the candidiasis, whether it is systemic, and how long its been there, in my case over forty years.
You mentioned that during the PB and C shakes, you should see threads. I have been doing the shakes faithfully for 3 months, but I have not seen any threads. I do see, however, small white things floating in the toilet almost every time I go to the bathroom. What does that mean? Will I see threads some day?
I have had candida twice :( The first time I got well on diet alone. As soon as I found out what I had I went on the diet and within days I felt horrible. Obviously it was eating buffet style with my previous diet. I had die off for over 5 months before it let up. I could barely lift my head. My neck was too fatigued to hold my head up, all I wanted to do was sleep and I prayed no one would ask me to do anyhting that required me to physically move since I felt like I was carting around lead weights strapped to both legs and arms. It was aweful. Then it finally started to subside slowly and one day I noticed it was gone. Out of fear I stayed on the diet for a year before I was brave enough to venture a normal diet. This is the key I believe to getting well permanently. I tested myself for weeks , a piece of cookie or a few bites of bread. Then after that I was completely 100% fine for about 15 years. I still wonder if I truly got rid of enough of it. All I did was the diet. On the diet I even ate potatoes ocassionally and I was fine. Back then I also found I could eat whole grains like whole wheat and had no trouble whatsoever. I made my own bread without yeast and was fine doing this. I also ate tons and tons of commercial yogurt artifically sweetened with nutraweet. It worked. I do not know how knowing what I know now, but it worked.
This time when I realized I had it again and I started the diet , all hell broke loose. About 2-3 weeks after cutting out a few things I probably should not have been eating, my health got a million times worse which I chalked up to die off. I was passing a clump of candida here and there maybe once every few weeks but that was it. Once I added the psylium and Bentonite with liquid caprylic acid it took about 10 days to see tons of it coming out me. So , diet might work if you are on the 10 year plan. With antifungals it was exactly 10 days before I saw a clump the size of a large plum. This was followed by clumps everday , with shreds of candida and long ( 6" ) strings of it hanging out of bowel movements. In addition I have passed beige tan colored flat ropes of something that might be a parasite of some kind and I have passed some mucoid plaque. So I am very happy with my aggressive approach and the results it got me.
What I will add to this is that with my recent experience I have learned that candida will eventaully adapt to you harsh diet and learn to live on what you eat. It is a bacteria and a fungus and it has been around for many many thousands of years. It can adapt better than we can. So, try the diet for a few weeks to a month first. This will gradually bring on the die off. After that start introducing antifungal of your choice. GSE, liquid caprlyic acid, garlic or oregano oil. Start slowly and work your way up to max dose of whatever you choose. If you experience tremendous die off you can either back off or you can bite the bullet and deal with it. At any time if you get that you cannot stand it, back off whatever you are doing for a few days.
Drink lots of water and make sure to move around plenty. Sitting in one place is bad, moving and getting exercise really helps alot.
I am a big believer in the p b & c shakes. psyllium, benotnite and liquid caprylic acid ( antifungal from coconuts) I order my psyllium from the http://www.vitaminshoppe.com and you can have liquid caprylic acid shipped worldwide at http://www.amazon.com. Search for a company called innovite, they ship worldwide.
I posted pics of my candida in the candida Image Gallery . These results came from p b & c shakes.
Thank you everyone for the responses!
Both good and bad news then really.
I tried the diet about 18 years ago in my teenage years and had die off symptons from day 2 but woke up feeling like a totally new person by day 5 with all my symptons gone including ones I didnt realise I had. I was expecting something simular or worse really this time since I never completed the diet and obviously Im twice the age... Looks like Im going to have to work twice as hard or more then (-:
P&B shakes are definatly the next thing on my list.
Thank you all again, I feel so much better now!!! I was quite worried that I was doing something wrong and that was the reason for not having die off!
If this is round two with candida, expect a more difficult fight. And whatever you do, stick with it and erradicate it, cause, it gets much worse if you do not, I am speaking from experience. I would not wish this on anyone. Truly.
Die off might take longer to come on. But you need an antifungal asap and start wiht the min. dose and test it. See how much it takes for die off.
When that happens get on a routine with it once you find the right dose.
Drink water, lots of it and make sure to move around plenty.
Do you think the difference this time round, in your case has been leaky gut? Maybe it wasnt systemic first time round?
There is no doubt that diet alone can induce die off. The addition of anti fungals in my first few weeks would have rendered me useless. I use them now with the P&B shakes, because the time has come when I need their help.
I also believe that candida adapts, even to a strict candida diet. In fact Im wondering if the home made yogurt (yes, 24hrs in the making), and the pumpkin and seseme seeds seeds are sustaining what candida is left, but there comes a time when you feel you cannot reduce your food selection down any further. BUt I might have to, just for a short while.
Have you checked the parasite gallery for the flat things you are passing? You might learn something about it there.
I do not know how much I really feel leaky gut plays in my current condition. About a year ago I felt I was far far worse off with leaky gut. I had reactions right after eating things and I think that could have been leaky gut. But now I really do not have such reactions any longer. My candida was def. systemic the first time. I had it everywhere, vaginal, thrush, anxiety, pressure in my head, dizziness, sore throats constantly, and feeling off balance. It was aweful.
I really feel , after much experimenting, that alot of my trouble has to do with mineral deficiences. I could go down a long list of symptoms and what correlates to what. If I do not take my vits and mins I go downhill really fast. And I have to drink tons of water. Now this could be because the minerals are neutralizing acids or it could be deificiences, both are pretty much the same thing.
All I know is that the symptoms I have that got really bad 8-12 months ago were the same symptoms I had had for about 2-3 years. But before they would bother me for a few hours and then subside and they were not that bad and were unrelated to food. In the back of my mind I knew it was candida. But I thought all I needed to do was diet and eat yogurt like I did before. While wasting time it got lots worse and hit me like a ton of bricks. Lesson learned.
As far as diet goes, I really do not think that pumpkin seeds, or sesame seeds are feeding it. As I said earlier, after a long while on the diet it does become immune and learn to survive. Otherwise we would see it pouring out of us as soon as we chnage our diets. Pumpkin seeds are actually recommended as they have parasite killing properties and contain lots of magnesium , so critical for those with candida.
Be careful not to starve yourself to try to get at candida. I went that route too and all it did was weaken me. But candida survived, because it adapts. As long as your yogurt is fermented 24 hours and tastes tart you are fine. The benefits far outweigh. IN any case I eat yogurt all the time as you do, homemade 24 hr. And I am still chock full of candida and I have no reaction to it at all.
I know this because I slowly eliminated the buckwheat, yogurt, p b & c shakes. I played around until I realized exactly why I would feel aweful. It was NOT the yogurt or shakes, it was all about the amount of water I was drinking. There is no question about it. Sounds like you are where I was about a month or so ago. So I tested things. You could do that too for piece of mind if you like. It will help you to learn what you body is asking you for or reacting to.
I might add, Jhan is a smart cookie and she knows lots about candida. We do differ in opinion on certain things most likely from our own personal experiences. But I always keep her thoughts and advice fresh in my mind. Keep her words open as an option. Close mindedness got me sick, so I choose now to listen and keep ideas open as possibilites. It could well be possible that a bad die off reaction occurs due to deficiences. That would go along with what I believe to be my case entirely. However, candida causes the deficiences to begin with and in my case I am taking the max load of vits and min everyday without fail. There is literally no more I could do in that dept without overdosing. So I have taken the approach to get rid of the precipitator. I have suffered thru die off both times. And it is horrible. But I think it is a good sign. I like to feel as I know I am succeeding.
It soudns liem you are doing exactly what you need to be doing? Are you doing enemas? What are you seeing? What antifungal are you taking? How is your die off with it?
