I would love to be able to take the juices, heat them and add spices to make a broth. I know it will kill off a lot of the nutrients in the veg etc but i really hate the veg juice and have to down it in one while holding my breath. I have even started skipping drinking because i dont want it, so i figured it would be better to at least have some that isnt quite as good as cold then skip altogether?
if you are gong ot heat the juice then just skip the juicing part and put the whole veggies in the pot and make a really good broth. i think spices are fine, but be aware that some spices create hunger, so that might be a problem. but a nice hot veggie broth with some spices is a good add to a fast. you might want to add some black strap mollases, a great source of minrals, and some lemon juice to the broth. yuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
It would be fine, however the enzymes will all be dead due to heating. You will still get some nutrients, but the enzymatic action will be lost. I bought Pacific brand organic vegetable broth. I just pour a cup, nuke and drink. The problem is that there isn't enough nutrition in it to sustain you. I add franks hot sauce to my veggie drinks with juice from 1 lemon. Makes those nasty drinks wayyy more tolerable :)
yes the enzymes will die but the minerals will be intact. in fact a broth is a more effecient means of extracting minerals from plants than juicing is, thats why a broth is a great addition to a juice fast.
i made 2 batches of veggie broth on my fast and it really got me through some tuff times. dazzles blog has a recipe on it i think but here is what i did. in a pot i put carrot, pumpkin, zucchinin, onion, siver beet, parsley, garlic, tomatoes covered in water and boiled for a long time. then i strained it and sippped on the broth. the discarded veggies i gave some to my dog the rest i blended up and froze in small batches in the ziploc bags. i use this now to thicken casseroles or stews or add it to whatever i can that the kids wont notice. i thought the broth was it was the yummiest thing i had ever eaten. (this was after two weeks of juice).the rest of the family thought it was disgusting. but for me as long as it wasnt juice. i also made the mc lemonade and on days i was sick of juice had this. water, lemon juice, agave nectar, and paprika. for the hunger try to increase the number of juices you are having. it might be a good idea to strain the juices too. oh and are you having hot herbal tea another great thing to add in. good luck and stay the course it really does get easier. well not easier...i think a 30 day fast (or any for that matter) is a constant dedication to what you want. but the hunger does go away and you dont even wont food at all. i promise you just have to get over this initial stage.
