As a practicing naturopath of 16 years, I have found so
many people suffering from this constant problem!
The simplest, and most effective method to get rid
of the hemorrhoids is Butcher's Broom.
Make a tea of butchers broom. You can purchase it in bulk
OR get capsules such as Solaray, Nature's Way, etc.
I have found bulk is usually stronger and fresher.
Bulk tea directions:
use about 1 heaping tablespoon and place a 1 cup with
boiled water (distilled is best, but filtered is fine).
Let it cool, then soak a cotton ball and place into the
rectum, preferably overnite.
Capsule tea directions:
Open 4-6 capsules of the herb and place in 1 cup with
boiled water. Follow same directions as above.
Of course, its always good to do colonics, high fiber diet,
plenty of water, etc.
I have tried horsechestnut, aloe vera, sliced potatoes, you
name it! In the clinic, I have found that some remedies may
work for one, and not another. Overall, the sitz bath along
with the butchers broom is the best.
I was reading through here looking for help with external Hemorrhoids and found your post. I am a bit concerned about putting a cotton ball inside the rectum. Isn't this dangerous at all? Is there any kind of natural poltice, salve, ointment or whatever, that can be put on the outside Hemorrhoids to make them shrink and go away?
I agree that a cotton ball left in overnight can be uncomfortable as well as
worrisome, however the swelling of the hemorrhoid, the sphincter muscle (which
tends to expel rather than absorb) as well as the dryness of the anus will
keep the cotton ball in its place.
The cold sitz bath is one of the most soothing ways to get relief from the
itchiness, while the butchers broom, coconut oil, comfrey salve, will also
keep the itchiness at bay during the day.
Keeping the bowels soft by using a high fiber diet as well as taking herbs
such as cascara sagrada (would not recommend senna based herbs at this time)
turkey rhubarb, and buckthorn are easy on the peristalsis as well as putting
less strain on your hemorrhoid.
A gentle shower right after your bowel movements will help keep the area
clean until the hemorrhoid swelling subsides. As mentioned in other posts,
it will disappear eventually, the herbs and sitz baths will give you immediate
relief from the itchiness.
Something that worked for my family and we have always had excellent results with is taking Citrus Biflavonoids by the handfuls until they have dissapeared. I would take about 16 a day after I had my babies, which was always when I had trouble, and they would dissapear quickly--never to have anymore trouble again until the next baby. That was until I had my twins, in which I will now have an occasional mild occurance that I can feel them protruding but no pain and I take some Biflavonoids again and they are flat once again. My dad had horrible bleeding cases and he did the same, though I think he may have taken even more than 16 a day, and it also cleared him up quickly. My mom has recommended this to many other people and they have also experienced the same, though I am not sure if they were longgoing cases or not (didn't ask really). It is something quick and easy one can do, and would hopefully work for you too. :) I used Nature Sunshine brand of CB's but any high quality brand should do I would think. Just don't get Wal-mart or GNC or such that is low quality...
Wow, thanks for that information! I will try doing that. It just so happens I already am a member of Nature's Sunshine and buy there products often so it will be very easy to do. I'll let you know how it goes. How long did it take for yours to go away?
They were pretty severe after having my babies, sticking out about two inches, and it took about a week before I had no more pain at all (which that really diminished in just a couple of days), another week before they were totally flat though. I try keep an extra bottle on hand for when I get low on VitaminC again and they flare up a little. When that happens I will take them for 3 or 4 days, about 4 tablets 4 times a day for about 16 a day. From what I understand it is the VitaminC in the Citrus Biflavinoids that help strenghten the cell walls and shrink the hemmoroids. However it works it does great! :)
I never had any problem with the CB's doing that, though I have had the problem from just VitaminC granules. I think VitaminC in it's natural form like it is in the CB's must react differently than granules since they are unnatural and just VitaminC extracted out of whatever. That's been my experience anyway.
