Ever since my Mom got a batch of kefir grains from a friend, we have been making new batches of kefir everyday. It grows so rapidly. at the time I was suffering from parasites and candida. I was taking herbs by hanna kroeger for only one day when I went back to my alternative physician. He saw the levels of all the bad crtters way down almost gone. So I knew that it was the kefir because I had been drinking a ton of it for a week straight. So stick with it! It works! It should be mandatory for cancer patients or any illness--even the common cold. It really kicks those pathogenic bacteria and other vermen out of the body! So stay positive!
Did anyone lose weight with kefir? I think some people may. My Mom is hoping for that.
Like yogurt it is fermented milk. Unlike yogurt, it is much stronger, greater number of good bacterias and yeasts. It is liquidy not thick. You can buy it, but it is not effective that way because it has been sitting on the shelf too long. Look up "Dom's Kefir Site" on google. You can but grains through him. Just pour milk over the grains and the kefir will grow like crazy. You have to follow the directions thougjh, after travelling through the mail it will take 3-4 days for the grains to recover. et the book "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon or "Body Ecology Diet" book. It is best to make it your self. It is strongr that way and all you must buy is milk. You can use any type of milk, or soy milk, or coconut milk...whatever you want. Many recipes in nourishing trad book.
You can add fruit and stevia. originally it tastes like plain yogurt (slightly more sour). Yogurt is fermented milk too, so is cheese. wine is fermented grapes. saurkraut is fermented cabbage. Years ago there were no cans and chemical preservatives . people lived off mostly fermented things.
I put 1/2 cup kefir with some frozen strawberries, stevia, touch of cinnamon, and ice and a little water. Mix it up and thats a good breakfast shake. You can throw in any powdered supplimets that you don't like the taste of, because it will dominate the flavor. You can add, papaya, pineapple, nut butters, carob powder, wheatgrass or green powders, peaches, coconut milk. I like using stevia as a sweetener because the parasites and fungus can't metabolize it and it does not increase glucose (diabetics will like it).
