Why does Dr. Schulze not sell and suggest parasite herbs? I have tried two formulas and they both caused serious and dangerous symptoms. Yet I think I need to parasite cleanse. I have a lot of respect for Dr. Schulze and I notice he doesn't seem to deal with this. Is there a reason? Thanks
Hi - thanks for answering. I am so at a loss as to how to proceed. I feel I need to do the parasite cleanse but it caused me some scarey problems.
I tried two kinds of formulas. One had wormwood, the other did not. I tried maybe 1/4 capsule early in the day to make sure I was fine with it and with both I was fine until bed time. At bed time I take GABA which is the only thing I've found to help me sleep that works and does not give me side effects. I also take Oxypowder every night. Normally I'm fine with both these things but on the nights I had take the parasite cleanse earlier that day, almost immediately after taking my gaba and oxy-cleanse, I had very severe reactions - my heart was impacted, I got numbness on one side of my body, etc. Both times this happened. It eventually subsided.
I can temporarily stop the Oxypowder but I really don't sleep without the GABA (I've really tried everything else there is and nothing else works for me). I suspect it is the GABA that's interacting with the parasite herbs.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there anyone who may be knowledgable over at Dr. Schulze s who I can call? Do they take calls for advice?
I am not certain as to exactly what you question is, but let me try to help. It sounds like you feel you need to do a parasite cleanse, but when you have tried it before you have had a bad reaction to the wormwood. Is that correct?
I can't judge why you feel you need a parasite cleanse, but if you haven't had one, it's a good idea to have one. There are different ways to approach a parasite cleanse as well. There is not a "single correct" parasite cleanse. In reading the old Eclectic physician manuals, I have found many different approaches. Dr. Schulze's approach is to include the anti-parasite herbs in with the liver/gall bladder formula. It is a fine formula and very effective. My studies have also pointed out that the bowel needs to be functioning properly for a parasite cleanse to be most effective. So my personal recommendation would be to switch over to the Schulze protocol. You don't have to get rid of the GABA. I would switch over to Schulze's bowel program.
Here is what I would do.
Week 1 - Intestinal Formula #1 to regulate the bowels
Week 2 - Intestinal Formula #2 to deep clean the bowels and remove many parasites (keep taking IF#1 to keep the bowels regular as needed.)
Week 3 - Five-day liver/gall bladder - Anti Parasite cleanse
Now there are other things that you can do that are simpler, but probably less effective. Black-Walnut can be taken, I would recommend tincture form. Lots of fresh garlic as it is a vermifuge (anti-parasite). You had mentioned taking wormwood with bad reaction, so I would stay away from that. To the extent that you take these other things, make sure your bowels are functioning regularly 2-3 times a day.
Also if you want, you can call Dr. Christopher's School of Natural Healing to talk to a Master Herbalis on Monday through Thursday from 1-2pm MST at 1-800-372-8255. The short consultation there is free.
Here is a link to some of Dr. Christopher's materials on Parasites.
Hi - thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I don't think it's only the wormwood. I actually reacted badly to both formulas, and one of them did not have wormwood and the other did (it was worse with the wormwood but bad with both). They both had the Black-Walnut . They have several of the same herbs that Dr. Schulze 's formula has.
My concern is that the parasite herbs seem to interact with the GABA in a dangerous way. I know I need the parasite cleanse, but I can't see how to do it without stopping the GABA. No GABA means no sleep! I'm kind of at a loss with what to do. Thanks for that free consult line - i will use it. In the meantime if you have any suggestions...
By the way, Dr. Schulze 's colon cleansing formulas gave me bad cramps and pain, but I have colon cleansed recently with Oxypowder and do have 2-3 bowel movements a day. (Dr. Schulze's kidney/bladder is the best thing I ever used for bladder infections, which I've had a lot of.)
Perhaps you could use large doses of garlic to do your parasite cleanse. Garlic by itself is still very effective. Put four cloves of garlic in 8-12 ounces of grapefruit juice and blend it up and drink it down. Do that 3-4 times a day for a week. Make sure your bowels are functioning as discussed earlier.
Some people find that Dr. Schulze 's IF#1 is cramping. Most who do find Dr. Christopher's Lower Bowel Formula to be more mild and yet still effective. You may want to try that.
Alternatively, is there anything other than GABA that helps you sleep? What about melatonin? What about the Nerve formula, or valerian by itself? That may provide options as you try to work out a parasite cleanse.
That amount of fresh garlic may have you smelling a bit potent, but for a week, it should clear up any parasite problems you have.
If you decide to use the grapefruit/juice, please make sure that you are not taking any cholesterol lowering drugs or you will get a bad reaction... Pharmacists make sure everyone knows this when ever they are on any cholesterol type regimens and medications...
Not that you would take prescription drugs but thought this would be a good time to mention this since it was suggested.
AngieLynn -- have you tried Melatonin? A time release formula should help.. It' s the sleep hormone that's made in your brain. Gaba can raise testosterone levels, I know I've read this, so perhaps wormwood does as well, I don't know, however you should trust how you feel. Too much Testosterone can cause heart issues.
I use a brand called Melatonex (melatonin) which is time released and has some b6 to aid absorption. I think it could really help you.. I take it when I go through periods of sleeplessness.
Hi - thanks for posting. I'll read those articles.
Melatonin is not good for folks with autoimmune problems.
I feel good with the GABA without the anti-parasite herbs, but not with it. I actually had very low testosterone and my doctor had prescribed testosterone cream years ago, though I did not continue with it. So GABA might actually be helping with that. I'll ask my doc to test me next time I go.
