Has anyone been successfully treated for this parasite?
I took Flagyl for ten days but it didn't help at all..
I am really scared right now, and would be so happy if anyone could give me some advice.
And are there any specific herbs that are useful against this parasite?
I have just been diagnosed with this parasite and also entamoeba coli. Don't panic, help is at hand!
My treatment is Iodoquinol and an antibiotic, doxycycline for 20 days. Flagyl is not effective against DF. Read www.badbugs.org for lots of information and case histories. There is a clinic in Sydney doing masses of research on this parasite.
I have just received Iodoquinol from the States as it is not available in the UK. I plan to start the treatment just before the next full moon which sounds strange but parasites are more active then. I will also have a session of colonic hydrotherapy before I start to loosen parasites. I have had a few sessions in the past so I am quite familiar with the practice but it may be new to you. Other people do "purging" (orthostatic lavage)before treatment. More information on www.badbugs.org/parasite/purged testing.htm. I haven't tried this .
I will post here results of the meds when I take them. All the best
Thank you both so much for your help, I get so incredibly thankful everytime someone wants to help me because it is really difficult to get help here in Sweden..
I don't know what I would have done without this information.
I sent a mail to the woman at badbugs.org and am waiting for her to write back..
Is the recommended dose of doxycycline and Iodoquinol the same for everyone, or is it different from person to person?
What dose are you taking?
Feels very good to know in case she would not answer my e-mail..
Maybe I sound desperate, and I am right now!
I also wonder if you can recommend any doctor that is willing to prescribe those drugs?
I will travel anywhere because I know that I will not find anyone in Sweden..
You could send me an e-mail if you would rather do that..
The tips on the herbs was also very good, I will try it after the medicine to be sure that the parasites are entirely gone.
I am going to email you with the recommended dose. Please post here if you do not receive it because none of my emails seem to work on this site.
Jackie on badbugs will email you but sometimes she is very busy. She might have the name of a doctor in Sweden. I am sure I read about fellow sufferers from Sweden.
I have taken anti parasite herbs without satisfactory results. As you say, they might be useful as a preventative after prescriptive drugs. I will post how I get on and it will be interesting to see if the prescriptive drugs wipe this out.
Also try a Google.com search using the terms "(insert drug name) dientamoeba fragilis dose OR dosing." ("OR" tells Google to look for either word dose or dosing.)
"The tips on the herbs was also very good, I will try it after the medicine to be sure that the parasites are entirely gone."
Thanks. After posting my earlier message, I thought to recommend that you take these herbs AT THE SAME TIME as any prescription drugs (assuming the drug websites such as Mayo Clinic's don't recommend against taking these particular meds at the same time). Usually (but not always), herbs can be taken at the same time as prescription drugs, and the combined effect might possibly be greater than drugs alone, at least in theory.
Sorry TC12 I have to disagree with you. I think it's a crazy idea to mix prescriptive drugs with herbs. On what basis do you give this information?
One really important contraindication is that if you are taking doxycycline as I just stated that I am (together with iodoquinol) for the treatment of dientamoeba fragilis you must not take it with zinc. Pumpkin seeds for example, which many people are taking as a vermifuge are high in zinc. This drug must not be taken with calcium either.
My posts included the comments "...assuming the drug websites such as Mayo Clinic's don't recommend against taking these particular meds (a given drug and a given herb) at the same time," as well as, "Usually --but not always -- herbs can be taken at the same time as prescription drugs."
Drug websites such as Mayo Clinic's routinely post lists of known interaction issues for a given drug, although they don't cover herbs as well. DrugDigest.Org has a great med interaction guide which also includes all the common herbs. Between these two (and there's a number of other good sites as well), such sites cover interactions between drugs and foods (mainly caffeine and alcohol issues), drugs and nutritional supplements (calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc.), drugs and retail med's (Pepto Bismol, aspirin, etc.), and same for the better known herbs. For Doxycycline, Mayo Clinic lists eleven compounds to avoid, including calcium supplements.
I would suggest that:
-People routinely and safely mix common herbs (except when medical guides list specific interaction issues).
-Doctors routinely and safely mix drugs and antibiotics (except when medical guides list specific interaction issues).
-In general, one can safely mix drugs and the common herbs (except when medical guides list specific interaction issues).
-Whether it's a food, nutritional supplement, antibiotic, other drug, common herb, caffeine, or alcohol, it's safe to mix them in standard quantities (except when medical guides list specific interaction issues).
As with any rule, there's certainly exceptions. And with the less common herbs -- and certainly obscure herbs -- interaction issues are less known.
bad bug? I have ordered doxy off the net from a pharmacy.( I don't remember the pharmacy but it took close to 70 days for 108.00 $$$) It just arrived and I wonder if I just take that if it will work?
Hi Lydia What parasite are you trying to kill?
I would hate to think that some information in my post would lead you to take meds not appropriate for you.
That said, I am specifically taking a combination of Iodoquinol and Doxycycline for entamoeba coli and dientamoeba fragilis. This is the treatment used by a Sydney clinic. Iodoquinol is an amebacide and doxycycline is an antibiotic. I am not sure if he is still using this combination of drugs any more. For further information you should contact jackie at www.badbugs.org
TC12 if you google: doxycycline zinc you will see there are thousands of links explaining that you must not combine doxycycline and zinc
Thanks for the info..I think I have the same thing here.
I have been sick for so long and I am juicing and juicing veggies and I can't seem to kick this feeling. I have tried paragone and had many things come out and now I am on MH dewormer-kidney cleanser-lower bowel balance. I will finish MH products first before I start the anit-botic with the other tab.Thank again :)
This is the link to frequent asked questions "right here"
This map shows the places where the infection of these MONSTERS are..The RED is where they have the outbreaks of infection.
They also have "GREAT" information.
Now I am really sad/mad..I am from MT and I lived there many years and I was "raised" in the red area.
Now wonder I have been so sick for so long.No wonder our family was "out of control with violence".You would think that the DR's are aware of this problem and to treat us. Then again there would be no money for the sorry crookes!
I also think that is why I haven't grown in the adult world. I feel I lost 40 some years of this non-sense.
I would and try. I went to teller training school (seattle), got my diploma, moved back to MT, no-one would hire me.
So back to waiting tables in MT..Got enough mmoney to get out and go back to Seattle..I went thru Real Estate got my license and worked for a few years. However; It didn't work out for me, I had to much fear. Then last but not least I went to Dental assisting school, got my diploma and now I don't want to work for a crook!
Now I am BACK in the red here in Florida. I just don't know what to do.I don't know "whom" I go to without costing so much money..Then to test your stool and retest..My goodness is that about 300 to 400 dollars for all that? I have been cleaning up myself since Jan this year and I can't seem to get to the bottom of this to heal..
Now I know "WHY". It is the infection. I am so mad all I can do is CRY, I talk to my son and he thinks I am a NUT..I know he has what I have..Plus his dad is also infected, he was a trapper and he would skin coyotes, one coyote was so rotton it fell apart. He wasn't going to let that stop him. 18 years later he came down with hepatitis C, he is okay now after treatment, however it is not cured. I now know he got the hep C from these dirty, dead coyotes. .I can't talk to either one about these MONSTERS.
I know I was infected and his dad when I gave birth to our son. So, I am wondering if I passed this infection to our son??? Since infection goes all thru the body and blood.
My son has had a hard time like I did.Trouble learning and angry most of the time, not being able to control his temper(like me back then), foggy brain, ect. He is in college now and struggling. I want to fix him, so he can have what he wants and needs in life and understand all of this. Instead of being a child in his 40's and not fitting in the adult world.
When he was about 6 weeks of age he was constapated(sp?) up for a few days..I was just nursing him, he had no food yet, then he has this awful rash on him. Drs didn't know what was up..Then the horrible ance he had at 15 to 17. The Drs cleared him up with acutain(sp?)
After reading and reading every site I can about all this.I came to a conclusion It wasn't ance(sp?), it was the BUGS and infection.
This really bothers me for he is my ONLY child and I want to fix and save him. I pray and pray so hard on this.
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this?
Prayers are needed
NOTE; I am not dwelling on this, I am just so darn mad/sad that this has to keep going and going and not just for me but for every soul on this earth. I am ready to take the DR's "ON" in the "red" areas..I would lose I know. I pitty those crooks.
Prayers and hugs
Did you need a perscription for the Iodoquinol? As you said it came from the US.
If, not can you direct me to the place to get it without a script?
I have been searching and searching all day and I cannot seem to find one available.
I am tired of DR's and their hands in my wallet, I absoulty do not trust them.
I think I read somewhere that you get infected with Dientamoeba fragilis through pinworms..
Does that always mean that you are infected with pinworms if they find Dientamoeba fragilis??
I did a test and they only found Dientamoeba fragilis, is it possible to be infected with only that parasite?
Because I am scared that I will be infected with anything else as well, and that the test missed it..
I had dientamoeba fragilis infection for several months as shown by a stools test.
I tried secnidazole only for a few days but didn't finish the course as I found it quite harsh. My symptoms persisted for a while so i don't think the drugs cured me and I was reluctant to take stronger drugs.
I was determined to find a natural cure and I succeeded in the end (as determined by a follow up stools test AND the total elimination of symptoms) by taking the following things:
* Seaweed, kelp, every day -has high Iodine content and excess is excreted in faeces. Yodoxin, a drug to treat Fragilis is Iodine based and Iodine itself is anti-parasitic.
* Bentonite clay
* Activated charcoal that has been mixed into a strong tea of wormwood and chaparral. The charcoal sucks up the chemicals in the tea and drags them right through the gastrointestinal system, making life hell for any parasites.
*Umeboshi plums, and citrus, and other tremendously high Vit C foods.
* Concentrated potent high quality Japanese green from young leaves. The tea should be made at 75 degrees celcius so the active compounds aren't destroyed- huge source or quertin. The tea should look grass green in colour.
*Eliminate dairy and red meat from diet if not done already.
Of these things I think the seaweed is most important.
Both my husband and I have DF, and no pinworms (in answer to someone who asked). My husband has tried , and another combination of herbs recommended by a herbalist. We're not sure if it worked.
Anyway, my main reason for writing is to ask whether anyone has noticed a cycle of these parasites? My husband gets pain that starts in his back/kidneys, and moves to his abdomen. It peaks in pain after 6 hours, and then subsides over 2-3 days. The funny thing is that this seems to be happening every 4 months (6 attacks in total) but are not related to any moon cycles. Anyone else getting the severe pain or any 4-monthly cycle? Maybe clutching at straws, but after various MRI scans, barium enemas & x-rays we're trying to do our own research!
Also, for information, we have a great doctor locally who only works part-time so he can do acupuncture and nutrition which he believes strongly in. He is open-minded about most things but claims DF is harmless and no symptoms can be attirbuted to it...
Hey, I think every one has quite unique symptoms as its just an immune response. I talked to a dr last week at the surrey allergy clinic who said:
There are a number of bacteria which live inside us all the time, some harmful and some are not. Our body recognizes DF as a hostile bacteria, therefore releasing an immune response, everybody's immune responses are different, the only way to diagnose is through a good test (using fixative), then test then test again as they can slip through (happened to me, thought i was cured then came back).
I have honestly spent thousands over the past three to four years on herbals alone including biocare, adp, goldenseal then antibiotics tetracycline (x2), metronizidol (flagyll).
Call the surrey allergy clinic (i dont work for them honest!) & get a telephone appointment. They will be able to give you the latest advice based on the latest research but not cheap. But believe me i have spent too much on BS remedies so far & antibiotics are the only thing that get close. Contact jackie at bad bugs too as she has done an incredible amount of research into this.
hope this helps & i hope your coping, Christmas is all ways too hard. x
