Has anyone been successfully treated for this parasite?
I took Flagyl for ten days but it didn't help at all..
I am really scared right now, and would be so happy if anyone could give me some advice.
And are there any specific herbs that are useful against this parasite?
I have just been diagnosed with this parasite and also entamoeba coli. Don't panic, help is at hand!
My treatment is Iodoquinol and an antibiotic, doxycycline for 20 days. Flagyl is not effective against DF. Read www.badbugs.org for lots of information and case histories. There is a clinic in Sydney doing masses of research on this parasite.
I have just received Iodoquinol from the States as it is not available in the UK. I plan to start the treatment just before the next full moon which sounds strange but parasites are more active then. I will also have a session of colonic hydrotherapy before I start to loosen parasites. I have had a few sessions in the past so I am quite familiar with the practice but it may be new to you. Other people do "purging" (orthostatic lavage)before treatment. More information on www.badbugs.org/parasite/purged testing.htm. I haven't tried this .
I will post here results of the meds when I take them. All the best
Thank you both so much for your help, I get so incredibly thankful everytime someone wants to help me because it is really difficult to get help here in Sweden..
I don't know what I would have done without this information.
I sent a mail to the woman at badbugs.org and am waiting for her to write back..
Is the recommended dose of doxycycline and Iodoquinol the same for everyone, or is it different from person to person?
What dose are you taking?
Feels very good to know in case she would not answer my e-mail..
Maybe I sound desperate, and I am right now!
I also wonder if you can recommend any doctor that is willing to prescribe those drugs?
I will travel anywhere because I know that I will not find anyone in Sweden..
You could send me an e-mail if you would rather do that..
The tips on the herbs was also very good, I will try it after the medicine to be sure that the parasites are entirely gone.
I am going to email you with the recommended dose. Please post here if you do not receive it because none of my emails seem to work on this site.
Jackie on badbugs will email you but sometimes she is very busy. She might have the name of a doctor in Sweden. I am sure I read about fellow sufferers from Sweden.
I have taken anti parasite herbs without satisfactory results. As you say, they might be useful as a preventative after prescriptive drugs. I will post how I get on and it will be interesting to see if the prescriptive drugs wipe this out.
Also try a Google.com search using the terms "(insert drug name) dientamoeba fragilis dose OR dosing." ("OR" tells Google to look for either word dose or dosing.)
"The tips on the herbs was also very good, I will try it after the medicine to be sure that the parasites are entirely gone."
Thanks. After posting my earlier message, I thought to recommend that you take these herbs AT THE SAME TIME as any prescription drugs (assuming the drug websites such as Mayo Clinic's don't recommend against taking these particular meds at the same time). Usually (but not always), herbs can be taken at the same time as prescription drugs, and the combined effect might possibly be greater than drugs alone, at least in theory.
Sorry TC12 I have to disagree with you. I think it's a crazy idea to mix prescriptive drugs with herbs. On what basis do you give this information?
One really important contraindication is that if you are taking doxycycline as I just stated that I am (together with iodoquinol) for the treatment of dientamoeba fragilis you must not take it with zinc. Pumpkin seeds for example, which many people are taking as a vermifuge are high in zinc. This drug must not be taken with calcium either.
