I have a coated tongue especially first thing in the morning and after eating although it can be scraped off it is quite thick. I have regular bowel movements and have tried everything inc regular probiotics and a liver flush. Also one thing to point out is the coating is mostly at the rear and almost looks like teeth marks towards the edges. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of this?
This is a sign of congestion likely acidity inside the body and sometimes candida. Scraping it with a spoon works for the top layers but it "grows" back, baking soda scrubbed with a toothbrush and left to sit for a minute or two works in cases of acididty as does the contents of a probiotic capsule or a mouthful of homemade kefir in the case of candida. Overall the problem root is congestion however and that must be addressed by colon cleansing and change of diet/lifestyle. My coating had reduced dramaticall since I have removed wheat and heavy starches from my diet during the day only eating starches at my last meal after veggies and protein. this is caused by incompatibilities for your own body
I had white coated tounge before. I went to an accupunturist - he gave me some herbs, and within a week or so my tounge became normal (pink again). I don't know what kind of herbs that restored it since he gave several kinds. According to the chinese medicine, your body is 'damp' when you have coated tounge. It could be candida if it's white coat and if it's yellow coat, it might be some kind of infection.
If you don't have a financial burden, it might be worth it to visit your local accupunturist who prescribes chinese herbs. And if you live in California, the insurance covers accupuncture.
hope it helps.
Thick coat in back of tongue may mean toxic GI tract - teeth impressions are related to weakening muscles due to poor absorption. Your duodenum/small intestine (absorption area) maybe be coated with junk.
You may want to look at cleaning the small bowel with okra pepsin E3 or gastrex from standard process or simply taking okra for a while. As mentioned, TCM has a different perspective on tongue diagnosis and there may be herbs that will clear and blockages or excess dampness.
Get your teeth checked by a good dentist. I had Candidia and even though I got rid of my internal symptoms, my white tongue remained. Then I happened to move and had to go to a new dentist. He was horrified, I had 4 broken fillings and some small cavities my previous dentist had told me was a receding gum line! All this despite the fact I never missed a check-up. After they were all filled, my white tongue disappeared for good. I am a huge believer that Candidia is the body's way of trying to fight bacteria. Fungus and bacteria are antagonistic. My internal Candida went away after sinus surgery removed infected mucus from my sinuses. My white tongue disappeared after bacterial tooth decay was eliminated.
