There's just a lot of major changes going on right now. There are alot of different churches around the world that have changed for the better, but some havent. I'm in a particular group that has completely changed. If you don't know what it is, its hard to explain. If you do a search online, you'll find a lot of info about it. It has been labeled a "cult", for many years, and some churches are breaking off to change its practices, which is great. But, the founder, Kip McKean, is still as twisted as ever.
Thanks for the link, interesting. I always find it interesting, that a lot of people, think that if a person devouts his or her life to ministry, they should not prosper...
Why is this?
Why should ministry or work for the Lord be any different...God wants us to prosper, and live comfortably.
What makes this any different than any other job?
Why is it okay for any other professional to prosper?
Oh yea?Hubbard did!If u'd reasearch you would find that he said start u'r own religion and get rich!Do u think u'r here from outerspace men? That is what his followers belive,IE:the church of scientology!
I didn't even bother to look this person up.It just surprisses me all the time how pp can be so gullabley. All one has to do is read their bible and follow it.NOT a person.Just like Jehovah's wittness and Mormons and such.It is so simple but pp and "religion" make it complecated.Love u ,Dot.P.S.But u know how I feel about christians being the first to hurt their wounded. It is so easy to quote scriptures but not have a heart to where they even know what the pp are really going thru.I feel their pain deep inside me.I'v not read a request yet that I can't personally relate to that I'v been there in some form and much wors tha any as far as being homeless and such.I feel their pain.PP that just get bored and want to just quote scripture is not what they need. They need pp that have been there and understand the pain and fear and panic.Love you,Dot.
I know know what you are going through. I am in continuous prayer for you. Gosh I love you. You are my Sister in Christ. I am glad you feel our pain. In the Christian New Tesament, God sent Jesus, & Jesus realized the suffering of the world and through His stripes we are healed. Only when God(Jesus) felt the same pain & suffering that we feel were we released from the pain of this earth. Thank you for your prayers.
Thanks for the website, although, a lot has changed since then, that seems to be an old website. Kip is now leading the church in Portland, Oregon with his wife Elena. If you want a more up to date website, go to www.upcyberdown.org. If you want to look at other stuff, go to www.rightcyberup.com
All I can say to really help you understand is to tell you to do a search on the web on International Churches of Christ or Kip McKean, then you'll see what I'm talking about. He broke off the mainline church of christ to form a church of truly "committed" disciples. It had good intentions at first, but turned into a church where people were treated very harshly for their sin and also if they didnt have "visitors" coming to church with them. Everyone had to have a "discipler", which is an older Christian over you to help you to learn to be more like Christ. Because of this structure, people were doing things out of fear of man, rather than love for God. There was very harsh accountability. We were taught that we were the ONLY group of people saved because we were the only church around the world committed to making disciples of all nations. A lot of leaders NOW, have banished these teachings and practices and have promoted freedom with their particular congregations. There's just soo........... much to tell, you have to look it up to understand completely. Hope this helps.
I looked him up, and found he resigned.
Just like anything else in this world, you have to weed out the bad. (I'm not judging Kip Mckean) It is just too bad, that some bad teaching comes in the name of Christ.
Each person has to make the decision for themselves what they will believe and act on. I find it is always a good practice to make sure a pastor or teacher is biblically sound, when it comes to Christianity.
He did resign, but now is leading the church in Portland , Oregon. He resigned from being lead evangelist for the church worldwide. But now is just leading one church in Oregon. It's just been very hard for me the last 5 years, I was hoping there were others I could talk to who can relate or who have been members before. God has taught me a lot through it all though, and for that, I am grateful!!
It was affiliated with the ICC, but has now denounced its practices, so now its just more autonomous, and the local leaders here are actually great. They are no longer under the direction and authority of Kip or anyone else. If it had continued the way it was before, I would've found another church, but since it changed here, I will stay. I hope this makes sense.
