I love Dr. Schulze 's Superfood better than any other dried food formula I've tried. But I wanted more things in mine, so I started making my own. I'm up to over 20 ingredients now, including: spirulina, brewers yeast, barley grass, wheat grass, spinach, chard, kale, cilantro, parsley, dulse, kelp, alfalfa, citrus peels, rose hips, burdock root, garlic, ginger, oat straw, and dried sprouts from broccoli, alfalfa and clover. I'm sure I'll continue to find more herbs to add to it, too. It is so much fun to find great produce and dry it into Superfood! My last batch has tangerine peel in it and it smells heavenly. Try making some out of this year's harvest and enjoy!!
I knew I was going to forget some of the ingredients!! I also add beets, beet greens, carrots and carrot juice. No doubt there are more, but you get the idea...*smile*...if you don't have a dehydrator to go with your juicer, try to find one!
I've tried drying just the juice, and it's a long, slow process with little amounts as an end result. Then I decided to pour the juice onto other, less moist ingredients, like the burdock root. I run everything I dry through my Champion Juicer first to pulp it, then dry it. So after I pulped the burdock root, I juiced the carrots and poured the juice onto the burdock pulp, then dried it. I'm lucky to have access to bulk supplies of dried wheat grass juice and dried barley grass juice, so I'm not drying those myself.
