I'm pretty sure that white vinegar is bad all the way. No reason to drink it. Acidic to the body (before and after). This means it can allow harmful creatures to proliferate, and cause hardening in the joints, such as excacerbating arthritis. It can be useful for external uses such as cleaning the bathroom, or even putting on nail fungus, though.
If you want to drink vinegar for therapeutic (good) effects then you should use raw apple cider vinegar, with the mother. There is a forum for ACV here at curezone.
It's good for wiping down your countertops to keep ants away, and for cleaning surfaces before you paint, makes the paint stick better. If you have a clogged drain put a cup of baking soda down it, then a cup of white vinegar. After it stops fizzing rinse it all down with some boiling water. (You begin to see why you wouldn't drink it anymore than you'd drink Draino!) It's also good for mopping tile floors. Use it in your dishwasher in the Rinse aid dispenser.
I have GERD and hiatal hernia. I have taken 2 sipps of deluted distilled white vinegar when I am awaken by the reflux at night and within minutes I am back sound asleep - I only tried this because I didn't have ACV to try and well it seems to be working?? Should I switch to ACV will I get the same result? Please advise??
I have been drinking white distilled vinegar since 1994, after it was recommended to me by a physical fitness trainer from a local fitness club. A daily regime for a while until I achieved results of weight loss, then I would stop. Usually 1/4 cup either chased or followed by orange juice. I have experienced no problems other then cleansing effects with weight loss and increased energy.
I have heard all too many times that vinegar is bad for you and you shouldn't drink it. There is of course speculation on drinking the Apple Cider Vinegar as it comes from a food source (Apple Must) instead of Ethanol. Everything you can find on the internet about consuming Vinegar for health will either be a sales pitch or opinions from people who don't know any better than you do. I would stay away from it until you can find legit research/studies proving one way or another. You can get great health and cleansing benefits from drinking fresh squeezed lemon juice (to prevent reflux you should chase it with a full glass of water).
