AT the end of March, i did a 9 day water only fast. That was not long enough to kill the candida but it did put the little buggers on the run. The whole time I fasted, my stomach was flat as a board, no gurgling or gas and even more amazing, I never even sneezed one time (I have upper respiratory issues.) In fact my sinuses were Crystal C..
From what I understand, a 3 day fast is great for detoxing while more than 3 days is needed for your body to go into ketosis and where actual self healing can take place. I opted to do water only since I have read that you detox much more quickly. I mean, if you have to suffer, why not go for the whole shebang? They say a 10 day water fast is equal to a 30 day juice fast.
If one were doing a long fast like, broth or juice might make more sense or if one is very toxic. A 3 day is relatively easy except for the detox side effects. However, if you have already been on a restricted diet, like most of us are, it shouldn't be too bad.
Good Luck with it. I highly reccomend it. I have definitely decided to incorporate fasting into my life. If I were "normal", I would think it better to eat more and fast either monthly or bimonthly rather than live always restricted.
