So, I pulse dosed because I was getting some pretty heavy detox symptoms. I went from 37.5mg to 50mg to 75mg in about 4 days time and I felt the difference. In short, when I was taking below the 37.5mg, I felt awesome but wanted to speed things up a bit.
After i went up drastically, I had lots of fatigue and brain fog all over again (exactly what I had prior to Lugol's with the 'fibro' and 'CFS') so I stopped for 48 hours. I felt pretty weak and tired. Then, yesterday, I started over, taking 37.5mg and am still dragging. I feel pretty alert for about 30min to an hour after taking 12.5mg and then tired again until my next dose...and the cycle continues.
Coming from someone who was super excited about the energy and warmth and general feeling of well-being to begin with, I am a litte disappointed that I feel this way. i am taking all companions. i even cut back on a couple of things as Trapper suggested. I am doing the salt pushes as needed and drink a ton of water...sometimes with lemon.
If I am doing something wrong, tell me! If not and this is normal, someone please promise me that I will feel better again! I would love to feel like I did with my 1st couple of weeks of supplementing. I had life back in me. i wasn't a zombie anymore and I could move around like a toddler. Not to say I feel really bad or worse than before but not nearly as good as in the beginning.
This takes time, for me it took 3 months of heavy detox before I got to the point when things started to point upwards.
We have seen over and over again at the forum; first a high, then a low, then unstable for a while before the energy is steadier.
You are not doing anything wrong, and I cant promise anything, only share my experience with iodine.
What about taking 12,5 mg every second hour? anyone?
what do u mean when u say it didnt work? Increasing worked to give you energy? Or just that decreasing doesnt give you any more either? Do I just need to get thru detoxing? And how long might that last? Days, weeks?
yes, i have been searching thru them but it's hard to know what words to search for. I have done "tired," "fatigue," and some others but haven't really ran into a post that was asking quite what i am. I'll keep looking.
Ok, so being that I have dealt with chronic fatigue for years and I am used to a lifestyle built around it...knowing what I know about Iodine and erading what i have read about others who regain energy...I will stick it out.
A question though. Does anyone think it is a good idea to exercise thru the fatigue? As a person with fibro and cfs, doctors say to exercise to feel better, then there r some who say not to push it because of PEM (post-exercise malaise). PEM has been a real event for me this last year or two. I could go straight to bed for a couple of days after a rigorous workout and my brain fog was worse and IBS acted up.
Since I am thinking fibro is more related to thyroid, in which most with hypo have PEM as well...in that light, is working out safe while being so tired? Even just a walk or jog? Or do u recommend complete rest? I don't want to over-tax my poor adrenals since I'm sure theyare already probably shot.
You are very probably dealing with adrenal fatigue and exercising with fatigue is NOT a good idea. If you haven't done the 24hr cortisol saliva test (do the comprehensive if you can afford it that checks the sex hormones too) you should do it.
EDIT: Forgot to mention it would be a good idea to get the labwork run that Janie recommends on her website too. You very well could be dealing with hypothyroidism (EVEN if your doc says your TSH is fine!), not to mention low ferritin and b12 which all cause fatigue.
CFS used to cause me problems too. At 100mg I was a slug for two weeks. Since then I have sustainable energy. No sudden, jittery bursts but energy to do everything I set out to do in a day and I wake up feeling rested and ready.
I took several salt pushes a day in the beginning.
My adrenals seemed to sort themselves out with no extra attention with Iodine and the companions.
alkaliza - thanks so much for thaT! I was disheartened there for a second. I have been doing salt pushes but have only been up to 75mg and only for a day! I realize that things take time but i wanted to hear from others that this was part of the process and not the end of a good thing for me. So, i will increase (slower this time).
I never did feel jittery, just very alert and alive. Not like i had coffee but like i was a kid. soaking it all in and wanting to move around more because it felt good. i slept great and woke up and sprung out of bed. i cooked and cleaned and exercised daily, whereas before, I could barely even drive home from work without falling asleep...and sometimes i did fall asleep! I never want to go back to that so im accepting this as detox symptoms and not Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome beating iodine.
so do u agree not to work out when fatigued? It seems natural NOT to but after gaining 20 lbs in two months for NO reason, I have been really pressd lately to fuit it in every day. i did fit it in daily the 1st 2 weeks of supplementing with no problem. i actually looked forward to it because i FELT my muscles working....it felt so good. now im back to feeling like my body wont cooperate with my will to move.
Hi Lolite. LOL. sttm is on my toolbar! I read from it often and even regular tsh test came back as "borderline hypo" according to doc but upon retesting, i was told i was fine..surprise, surprise! I do believe I am hypo..my mom and lot sof women in her fam are... and I do believe i have AF. I haven't looked at the test info but i will.
i am scaerd to go up that much just yet. I am working my way up to 75mg next week and then I may go up to 87.5mg and then 100mg the week after. slow and steady is winning the race for me in regards to detoxing. I can't take a few days off to relax and detox. I have a full time job, 3 kids...2 that have a ton of after school activities and one that is only 3 yrs. I also go to school part time so I am way too busy to play around. i understand what ur saying tho. I'll get there
100mg is making me a basket case.....lots of neurological issues...lack of coordination, even with salt loading...uggh! if you can tolerate 75 mg and still function - more power to you....i had to leave my job early this week and call in sick the next day because i felt so bad....
Exactly the post I expect after the initial enthusiasm. Detox comes in waves. One thing that really helped me was coffee enemas, info in the "iodine answers" at the top of the page. That, and pulsing the dose, 5 days on, 2 off, 4 on, 3 off ya know?
brownstein recommends 3-10grams of C
I have been having bad almost getting sick bouts this past months and Big vitaC increases have helped me through it...thus the earlier post today
psyllium and Bentonite 1-2x/day
1 tsp P and 1 tbsp B
bind up stuff to get it out
ditto on C enema
sometimes my mood is radically better after enema
and that is even though my bile ducts are pretty clogged
and perhaps in addition ATP cofactors
I also have to stay on top of my Candida.
I am adding 2-3tsp of Caproyl (caprylic acid) to B and P and probiotic...6-8oz water
Biocidin to knock out any buggers
any access to sweating....sauna, etc
and modulate the exercise.
sometimes when I feel like crap I do my electrolyte drink:
1/4 tsp NaCl
1/4 tsp KCl
16 oz water
3 g Vita C
2 tsp baking soda
the above I usually do 3x/day regardless of exercise
but if I do it right before i exercise it is better
sometimes 1/4 tsp borax every day or every other dayt
then I put 10 drops of Trappers SSKI on each leg and rub it in with rubber gloves (otherwise I find yellow handprints on walls near light switches, etc.)
sometimes Magnesium oil
wait 20minutes, warm up slowly with situps or on my bike trainer and sometimes I can do a moderate workout
once I break a sweat i feel so much better usually
i think my detox channels are so blocked that the sweating really works
for me the Potassium and Iodine on my skin really help
for some reason that seems better then internally for exercise
I have played with it a little .....they both make me stronger and give more endurance for a short term exercise
and then there are the other organ cleanses with herbs, etc.
and if in 3 months you aren't feeling on the up, time to consider heavy metals...cutler protocol
keep us posted
I had two great weeks and then it went south and I dinked around for way too long with tiny little doses and then got way distracted and got way into big doses of CS internally and IV because I was so desperate.....I wish I hadn't done that know, it flared the hell out of my Candida, probably my fault for not doing enough probiotics...
thanks so much guys for answering. I am happy to say that i have survived my first wave of detoxing. I salted the hell out of it too. I was taking salt so much that I burped salt. It helps immediately but now i see why it is necessary to keep doing it..because detox headache creeps back. I didn't exercise but now the sweating makes sense. I made up for it on Saturday though. I sweat, sweat, sweat. I woke up Saturday feeling a million times better.
I really want to try the coffee enema but I'm grossed out. LOL. I KNOW it would be good for me though.
