I went to a russian spa (banya) and did hot tub ->Sauna->cold plunge. The cold plunge really did it, it made my whole body tingle and my brain felt really clear for a few minutes. I did the round about 3-4 times, I spent 2 hours there. Cold plunge was 50-55 degrees, so pretty darn cold! I spent 3 minutes at a time in it.
So, yeah just really interesting, I'd say the endorphin feeling was more pronounced than any I have had since early 2007, indicating that my immune system has problem been messed up for a lot longer than I realized, more like closer to 5 years than the last 2 years that have been really bad.
Hey tricks ,
Glad you enjoyed the russian spa, apparently great for detox.
Be careful not to over do it in those tough. I went a bit hyper entusihastic this summer and went like 1 time a week for 3 week. I ended up having a major crash ... its easy to overdo since you dont really notice how hard your body is working.
I think it will be a great thing for me when I am a bit stronger.
Yeah it was pretty severe crash it kind of sneak up on me. I was drinking tons of water with lemon and salt to avoid the dehydratation. I woke up at 2 am like I had not had a drink in ages.... I went back the week after .... and the weak after .... I did not really notice that I was starting to crash.
Anyways process with care , If your body says yes it think you will be fine.
However, I would like to make a point that the endorphin rush I got didn't have much to do with the sauna, I probably only spent 10 minutes total in the sauna (3 min per round).
The cold plunge is the thing that really shocked my system into places it hasn't been in a long time. I had to ease myself into the freezing cold water but after a minute or so my body started to like it, felt like my whole body was warm in a weird way.
