I am so bloated that I look like I'm pregnant. When I had my Mirena in, I'd go through periods of time where I'd be extremely bloated (like I'm pregnant) and then it would somewhat go away. I've had my Mirena out for a little over a month, but the bloating has not gone down. Also, my lower abdomen is always in pain. Most days it hurts so bad that my 4 year old can't even sit on my lap. Is this in any way related to the Mirena? If any if you have experienced this, what did you do to fix it?
Hi Jessica! I have had the mirena for 8 months, which with it, I had no periods however I had my mirena removed on friday for that very reason. I was bloated, and my stomach was very sore to the touch. I brought this up to my obgyn a few months back and she told me that it was because of the hormone and that it should disapear in about 6 months... well I had it for 8. I went in to talk to her on friday about it because the bloat was getting really bad. I told her it was like I was getting IBS. She then said, dear, we need to take it out. She told me that if they issues havent gone away by now, they werent going to. Anyhow, she took it out and put a nuvaring in (to prevent the mirena crash) and today its sunday, my bloat has gone away, my stomach isnt sore anymore and Iv lost a few pounds... I just wanted to share with you what happened with me. I do have to say though... I am alittle crampy like my period is about to start. So I guess we will see.
Not wanting to scare you or anything, but I just read an article last week that bloating in the abdomen can be an early sign of ovarian cancer, so if Mirena's been out for awhile and you haven't seen any improvement, you might want to get it checked out by a Gyn that you can trust. Better safe than sorry?
