The farmer grinned as he told the visitor, “Watch this!” He called his pigs, which ran frantically towards him to be fed. But when he scooped out corn and threw it on the ground, the pigs sniffed it and then looked up at the farmer with confused expectation. The farmer then scooped corn from another bin and flung it near the pigs, which ran over and quickly devoured it.
The farmer said, “The first corn is genetically engineered. They won’t touch it.”
It’s not just pigs that swear off genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In South Africa, Strilli Oppenheimer’s chickens won’t eat genetically modified (GM) corn. Most buffalo in Haryana, India, refuse cottonseed cakes if made from GM cotton plants. Geese migrating through Illinois only munched sections of the soybean field that was non-GMO. When given a choice, elk, deer, raccoons, and rats all avoided GMOs. And even during the coldest days of Iowa winter, squirrels, which regularly devour natural corn, refused to touch the GM variety.
One skeptical farmer who read about the squirrels wanted to see for himself if it was true. He bought a bag full of GM corn ears, and another of non-GM, and left them in his garage till winter. But by the time he fetched the bags, mice had done the experiment for him. They broke into the natural corn bag and finished it; the GM cobs were untouched.
Doctors prescribe no GMOs
No one knows why the animals refuse GMOs, but according to a 2009 statement by the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM), when lab animals do eat GM feed, it’s not pretty. “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” says the AAEM policy paper, which specifically cited infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system, among the impacts of eating GMOs. “There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects,” they wrote. “There is causation…”
Although we humans don’t have a natural sense to stay away from GM foods, AAEM’s position indicates that we should take a lesson from the animals. This renowned medical organization, which first recognized such dangers as food allergies, chemical sensitivity, and Gulf War Syndrome, called on all physicians to prescribe non-GMO diets to all patients.¹ They also called for a moratorium on GMOs, long-term independent studies, and labeling.
Former AAEM President Dr. Jennifer Armstrong says, “Physicians are probably seeing the effects in their patients, but need to know how to ask the right questions.” Renowned biologist Dr. Pushpa M. Bhargava and many others believe that GMOs may be a major contributor to the deteriorating health in America since GM foods were introduced in 1996.
GMOs on your plate
There are eight GM food crops: soy, corn, cotton, canola, sugar beets, Hawaiian papaya, and a little bit of zucchini and yellow squash. The two primary reasons why plants are engineered are to allow them to either drink poison, or produce poison.
Poison drinkers are called herbicide tolerant. Their DNA is outfitted with bacterial genes that allow them to survive otherwise deadly doses of toxic herbicide. The first five crops on the list above have herbicide tolerant varieties. The poison producers are called Bt crops. Inserted genes from the soil bacterium Bacillus Thuringiensis produce an insect-killing pesticide called Bt-toxin in every cell of the plant. That is found in corn and cotton. The papaya and squashes have virus genes inserted, to fight off a plant virus. All GM crops are linked to dangerous side effects.
Pregnant women and babies at great risk
GM foods are particularly dangerous for pregnant women and children. After GM soy was fed to female rats, most of their babies died—compared to a 10% deaths among controls fed natural soy.²b GM-fed babies were smaller, and possibly infertile.³
Testicles of rats fed GM soy changed from the normal pink to dark blue.3 Mice fed GM soy had altered young sperm.4 Embryos of GM soy-fed parent mice had changed DNA.5 And mice fed GM corn had fewer, and smaller, babies.7
In Haryana, India, most of those buffalo that did consume GM cottonseed ended up with reproductive complications such as premature deliveries, abortions, and infertility; many calves died. About two dozen US farmers said thousands of pigs became sterile from certain GM corn varieties. Some had false pregnancies; others gave birth to bags of water. Cows and bulls also became infertile.
Eating poison in every bite
When insects take a bite out of the corn and cotton plants engineered to produce Bt-toxin, their stomach splits open and they die. Because that same toxin is used in its natural bacterial state as a spray by farmers for insect control, biotech companies claim that it has a history of safe use and can be incorporated directly into every plant cell.
The Bt-toxin produced in GM plants, however, is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray, is designed to be more toxic, has properties of an allergen, and cannot be washed off the plant.
Moreover, studies confirm that even the less toxic natural spray can be harmful. When dispersed by plane to kill gypsy moths in Washington and Vancouver, about 500 people reported allergy or flu-like symptoms.¹, ¹¹ The same symptoms are now reported by thousands of farm workers from handling Bt cotton throughout India.¹²
GMOs provoke immune reactions
GMO safety expert Dr. Arpad Pusztai says changes in immune status are “a consistent feature of all the [animal] studies.”¹³ From Monsanto’s own research to government funded trials, rodents fed Bt corn had significant immune reactions.¹, ¹
Soon after GM soy was introduced to the UK, soy allergies skyrocketed by 50%. Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says “I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it.”
GM soy, corn, and papaya contain new proteins with allergenic properties.¹ In addition, GM soy has up to seven times more of a known soy allergen.¹ Perhaps the US epidemic of food allergies and asthma is a casualty of genetic manipulation.
Animals dying in large numbers
In India, animals graze on cotton plants after harvest. But when shepherds let sheep graze on Bt cotton plants, thousands died. Investigators said preliminary evidence “strongly suggests that the sheep mortality was due to a toxin…most probably Bt-toxin.”¹ In one small study, all sheep fed Bt cotton plants died; those fed natural plants remained healthy.
In an Andhra Pradesh village, buffalo grazed on cotton plants for eight years without incident. On January 3rd, 2008, 13 buffalo grazed on Bt cotton plants for the first time. All died within three days.¹ Bt corn is also implicated in the deaths of cows in Germany, and horses, water buffaloes, and chickens in The Philippines.²
In lab studies, twice the number of chickens fed Liberty Link corn died; 7 of 40 rats fed a GM tomato died within two weeks.²¹ Those rats had refused to eat the tomato and had to be force fed.
Worst finding of all—GMOs remain inside of us
The only published human feeding study revealed that even after we stop eating GMOs, harmful GM proteins may be produced continuously inside of us; genes inserted into GM soy transfer into bacteria inside our intestines and continue to function.²² If Bt genes also transfer, eating GM corn chips might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories.
Warnings by government scientists ignored and denied
According to documents released from a lawsuit, in 1991–92 scientists at the FDA repeatedly warned that GM foods might create allergies, poisons, new diseases, and nutritional problems.²³ But the White House ordered the agency to promote biotechnology, and Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, headed up the FDA’s GMO policy. That 1992 policy—still in effect today—declares that no safety studies on GMOs are required. Monsanto and other producers determine if their foods are safe. Taylor later became Monsanto’s vice president, and was reinstalled at the FDA in 2009 by the Obama administration as the US Food Safety Czar.
Opting out as guinea pigs
Biologist Dr. David Schubert of the Salk Institute says, “If there are problems [with GMOs], we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop.” In the 9 years after GM crops were introduced in 1996, Americans with three or more chronic diseases jumped from 7% to 13%.² Allergies doubled in less time. And the incidence of low birth weight babies, infertility, and infant mortality are all escalating. But without any human clinical trials or post marketing surveillance, we may never know if these or other disorders like autism, obesity, and diabetes, are triggered or made worse by GMOs.
We don’t need to wait for more research to learn our lesson from the animals and the doctors. Consult the Non-GMO Shopping Guide ( http://www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/ ) to learn how to avoid GMOs. Even a small percentage of people choosing non-GMO brands could force the food industry to remove all GM ingredients. By doing so, you are not only being careful about your own health, you are being compassionate to the environment and future generations—since GMOs wreak long-term havoc in our ecosystem as well.

The closest Michael Kalafatis ever will get to being a rock star is a photo posted near his office door at Cleveland State University.
In a photo, a musician, strutting across a stage, soaks in the applause and adulation of thousands of fans. On it, a caption reads: “The biochemical superstar, Dr. Kalafatis, is shown here leaving a recent Cleveland State lecture.”
“Some of my students did that. … Funny huh?” he said.

Is it possible that there is a cure for cancer?
A Cleveland State University professor believes there is. And a panel of independent reviewers at both the Cleveland Clinic and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) agree.
Professor Michael Kalafatis, heads up research for Cleveland State University (CSU). For over 10 years he’s led CSU research into blood coagulation.
it happened by accident. Right there inside chemistry labs in a science building along Euclid Avenue. A dozen or so blocks from the Indians’ Progressive Field or Cleveland Browns Stadium — sites that Stark Countians are probably more familiar with. Kalafatis calls it a case of “serendipity” rather than “stumbled.”
“Your best discoveries are from something you weren’t expecting,” says David Anderson, the associate dean of Cleveland State University.
That’s exactly how this breakthrough happened.
Kalafatis was working on a research project related to genes and blood coagulation. His students added a special compound to human cancer cells in a petri dish.
The compound killed the cells. This wasn’t the point of the experiment… or what Kalafatis expected. He thought his students had botched the experiment. So he had them do it again. And they got the same results. Shocked by the incredible possibility, he did the test himself. And got the same result. With disbelief… he did it again. And again the compound killed the cancer cells.
So he broadened the experiment. Using the compound that he now calls CancerX, Kalafatis applied it to different types of cancer.
Breast cancer… prostate cancer… leukemia… brain cancer… CancerX killed them all.
But experiments in petri dishes don’t mean the same thing as they do in real life. So he took his experiments to the next level.
Discovering the cure
Kalafatis injected human cancer cells into mice and allowed them to grow into full-blown tumors. Then he applied CancerX.
Nothing happened at first.
A week went by.
“Then I got a phone call,” says Kalafatis. “The tumor had disappeared.”
It was then that he knew he was onto something. He began running a gamut of tests. Every type of cancer he could test… and it killed ALL of them.
He’s since tested almost 60 different types of cancer. Tumors dramatically shrink – or are entirely killed. And even better… there’s no damage to surrounding tissue or healthy cells.
He’s had his findings confirmed by the Cleveland Clinic and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Clinic ran a series of tests on dozens of different types of cancer. These included brain, kidney, and liver. They found it destroyed the tumors… with no harm to healthy cells.
The NIH conducted Phase I and II trials on over 50 different types of cancer. They got the same results - every time.
Now Professor Kalafatis is ready to take his trials to the final level – testing on human patients. If those trials prove successful… he believes a cure for cancer could be available within 10 years.

“In our culture, we have literature about the berry and its functions,” he says.
The professor knew that Goji berries had a long history of improving vision. But he wanted to understand how that happened. An earlier study – published in 2005 in the British Journal of Nutrition – had found that the berries impacted age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Professor Lin believed the secret power of the berries lay in their rich antioxidants.
He used dried berries and examined how they affected retina cells. He found they contain high levels of zeaxanthin, lutein, polysaccharides, and polyphenolics. These antioxidant-rich compounds all improve vision.
In recent years, goji juice has become popular as a health beverage. Companies marketing goji juice often mention the unsupported claim that a man named Li Qing Yuen consumed goji berries daily and lived to be 252 years old. Marketers also list extensive health benefits of goji juice, even though there are few published clinical trials in humans.
Problems with Lipitor
The side effects of Lipitor and other cholesterol lowering medications (called statins) have been the subject of much controversy in recent years. For this reason, many people are now looking for natural alternatives to statins to avoid the possible Lipitor side effects.
For millions or people, statin drugs are the number one doctor-prescribed defense against heart disease. In fact, so many people take them that we spent $12.5 billion on Lipitor in 2006 alone. Irritable bowel syndrome Its symptoms include bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and spasms, and nausea. The pain is often triggered by eating, so people suffering from IBS don’t always eat enough, which results in malnutrition. Food allergies, medication, stress, hormone changes, low fiber intake, infection, parasites, lactose intolerance, laxatives, and antibiotic abuse could all be involved. Candidiasis is a fungal infection. It is caused by candida albicans, bacterium that is found in small amounts in nearly everyone. When the bacteria multiplies, they can cause health problems. Most of us know this condition by a number of names: Candidiasis is called a yeast infection in the vagina, a fungal infection in the fingernails, and thrush in the throat. What many of us do not know is that candidiasis is indeed a digestive problem.
C. albicans can colonize the digestive tract. When the colonies grow unchecked, they produce powerful toxins that are absorbed into the bloodstream. The toxins then travel throughout the body, resulting in many different symptoms. These include abdominal bloating, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, depression, environmental sensitivities, fatigue, food sensitivities, fuzzy thinking, insomnia, low blood sugar, mood swings, PMS, recurring vaginal or bladder infections, ringing in the ears, and sensitivities to perfume, cigarettes, or fabric odors. C. albicans also affect the immure system, hormone balance, and the thought process.
C. albicans grow out of control when the friendly bacteria that keep them in check are destroyed. This can happen because of antibiotics, birth control pills, and steroid medications.
To control C. albicans, look first to your diet. Stop consuming dairy products (except yogurt), red and processed meats, yeast-based food such as breads and pastries, alcoholic beverages, dried fruits, mushrooms, and products containing sugar and vinegar. You should consume pre and probiotics (which are the food that feeds the friendly bacteria and the friendly bacteria themselves) and eat foods such as yogurt, which contain friendly bacteria. Certain foods and supplements can kill C. albicans. These include garlic and grapefruit seed extract.
According to a healthy lifestyle we will be healthy. The food you eat will effect your well being. Many diseases in humans are directly or indirectly caused by improper eating habits and malnutrition. Also know that much of the food we eat has been grown in depleted soil, much containing pesticides and insecticides. You will be much better off eating organically grown when you can.
Also be aware that “over-supplementation” is not the answer. There are many who take this that and the other thing and over burden their body with nutritional products that are beyond the bodies ability to assimilate, and this will burden your metabolism.
The magic word is Balance.
Our bodies are in a constant process of change. Cells die and new ones are born constantly. Daily we are facing a chemical assault from the environment, nutritional transgressions. Traumas stress and strains leave their imprint on and become imbedded in our body and mind. Negative emotions (frustrations, anger, fear and guilt) get incorporated into cellular memory and become illness, God forbid.

1.) Sodium Nitrite – Sodium Nitrite is a preservative that is usually present in salami, pepperoni, ham, bacon, hot dogs and other forms of processed meats. The reason why Sodium Nitrite is added to meats is because it preserves the red/pinkish color of the meat and gives it a fresh appearance, and also prevents botulism to some extent.
However when ingested in large amounts, sodium nitrite reacts with the stomach acids to produce nitrosamines, the main cause for cancer amongst animals.
Sodium nitrite consumption is also known to trigger migraine pains, and COPD form of lung diseases. Non-red meats such as chicken, tuna are comparatively safer as they do not have nitrates in them.
WHITE SUGAR and HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP
The average American consumes 150 pounds of sugar a year compared to the 12 pounds consumed in the early 1800s.
Becoming obese is just one of the many side-effects of consuming too many carbohydrates in the form of sugar. TRANS-FAT - HYDROGENATED - PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL
trans fatty acids (hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils) have been liked to diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease (even low levels of trans fats in the diet — a mere 1-2% of calories per day — were linked to a substantially increased risk of heart disease). Several large studies indicate a strong link between shortened life and consumption of high amounts of trans-fat. They also decrease the desirable HDL cholesterol levels. The net effect of trans fats is double that of saturated fatty acids.
Hydrogenation results in a residue of toxic metals, usually nickel and aluminum, which are left behind in the finished product. These metals are used as catalysts in the reaction, but they accumulate in our cells and nervous system where they poison enzyme systems and alter cellular functions, endangering health and causing a wide variety of problems.
Do not fry or sauté with ”polyunsaturated” light oils
Any ‘food that lists hydrogenated” or ”partially hydrogenated” on the label contains trans-fats and should be avoided. Avoid products containing cottonseed oil. Cotton is not considered a food crop and is heavily sprayed with highly toxic pesticides — some of which wind up in the oil. Do not fry or sauté with “polyunsaturated” light oils such as safflower, sunflower or corn oils. They oxidize readily into damaging free radicals at high temperatures.
Organic flaxseed oil has the highest concentration of omega-3 fatty acids. Use butter instead of margarine or shortening in cooking.
Manufacturers have created non-hydrogenated margarine, which is now widely available. Non-hydrogenated margarine contains no trans fat, and it’s softer than the first-generation margarine stick. Excitotoxins – Excitotoxins are basically amino acids that also function as neurotransmitters in the brain. But when brain cells are exposed to this chemical in large amounts (through dietary consumption), they become over-excited. During this stage, the nerve and brain cells fire their impulses rapidly until they reach extreme exhaustion, a near-death state.
Commonly found in canned soups, diet soda, sausages, salad dressing and processed vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods. Sorbitol, also known as glucitol, is a sugar alcohol the body metabolises slowly. Sorbitol is a sugar substitute often used in diet foods (including diet drinks and ice cream) and sugar-free chewing gum. Sorbitol can be used as a non-stimulant laxative by either in oral suspension or suppository form. The drug works by drawing water into the large intestine, thereby stimulating bowel movements. Ingesting large amounts of sorbitol can lead to some abdominal pain, gas, and mild to severe diarrhea. Sorbitol can also aggravate irritable bowel syndrome and fructose malabsorption. And an excessive chewing gum habit can cause severe illness and weight loss, researchers warn (11/01/2008). Doctors found that two patients who suffered diarrhea, malnutrition and weight loss chewed up to 20 sticks of gum a day containing sorbitol

BHA and BHT – Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) are used to preserve fats and inhibit the formation of yeast. Food products such as butter, chips, beer, cereals, dehydrated potatoes, meats etc contain BHT and BHA. Both BHA and BHT are antioxidants that oxidize the fats, thereby protecting the food products from going rancid.
However, ingesting these preservatives can cause serious health problems. BHT and BHA are known to cause metabolic stress, weight loss, liver damage, growth retardation and fetal abnormalities. These are also the cause of hyperactivity and other behavioral disorders in children.
Anecdotal reports suggest that BHA and BHT can increase the risk of cancer (suspected carcinogens) and get accumulated in body tissues causing several health problems. Food colouring serves many of the same decorative purposes as lipstick, eye shadow, mascara - and is often made from the same pigments. Titanium dioxide, for example, has proved to be an especially versatile mineral. It gives many processed sweets, frostings and icings their bright white colour; it is a common ingredient in women’s cosmetics; and it is the pigment used in many white oil paints and house paints.
On June 4, 2008, the nonprofit watchdog group the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has petitioned the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban the artificial food colourings it refers to as the ”secret shame” of the food and industry and its regulators. The dyes at issue are Yellow 5 and 6, Red 40 and 3, Blue 1 and 2, Green 3 and Orange B. The CSPI said the UK had already banned some of these.
SODIUM / SALT
We don’t know exactly how salt works to elevate blood pressure. But the best guess is that too much salt causes the sodium channels (structures that move sodium into and out of cells) to work too hard and gradually the channels begin to fail. This process is irreversible, so that by old age, even if people cut back on salt, their kidneys can no longer flush extra amounts of salt from the body without an increase in blood pressure. Salt may also be linked to other health problems such as aggravating asthma, gastric cancer, and kidney stones.
Table salt is 40% sodium; 1 teaspoon of table salt contains 2,300 mg of sodium. The National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences recommends 1,200 to 1,500 mg of sodium each day for adults. Persons with high blood pressure should have no more than 2,300 mg of sodium a day. Those with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease may need much lower amounts.

Olive polyphenols have beneficial benefits on the cardiovascular system. Studies show that olive polyphenols dramatically increase the resistance of cholesterol to oxidation. This is very important, as oxidized cholesterol serves as a trigger for atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Olive polyphenols also benefit the vascular endothelium, the lining of blood vessel walls. Hydroxytyrosol, a principal polyphenol in olives, reduces the “stickiness” of cells in the vascular endothelium. Cell “stickiness” may increase the tendency to form blood clots in the arteries.
Carotenoids and retinoids. Carotenoids (found in foods like carrots, squash, and tomatoes) and retinoids, which are beneficial to eye health, also play an important role in preventing disease.

But one must be careful with Coffee as it can induce high blood pressure in some people, largely due to its caffeine content. A manual muscle test in AK is conducted by having the patient resist using the target muscle or muscle group while the practitioner applies a force. A smooth response is sometimes referred to as a ”strong muscle” and a response that was not appropriate is sometimes called a ”weak response”. This is not a raw test of strength, but rather a subjective evaluation of tension in the muscle and smoothness of response, taken to be indicative of stresses and imbalances in the body. A weak muscle test is equated to dysfunction and chemical or structural imbalance or mental stress, indicative of a body dissatisfied with suboptimal functioning. The most common test is the arm-pull-down test, or ”Delta test,” where the patient resists as the practitioner exerts a downward force on an extended arm.Proper positioning is paramount to ensure that the muscle in question is the prime mover, minimizing interference from adjacent muscle groups.
“Nutrient testing” is used to examine the response of various of a patient’s muscles to assorted chemicals. Sensitivity means your body is reacting on a metabolic level that has no visible proof. Obviously, do not run or do anything that might contribute to a pulse variation while conducting this test.
