I am continuing to improve after 25 years of CFS/ME by taking Bovine Colostrum[4x2] and Lactoferrin[2x2]per day. I have been on it for 3 months now and have more energy and enthusiasm than I have had for years. I take the immune care brand, but any good brand should work.Do your research and see if it is for you.
I also am on a anti candida diet. As I'm sure that candida is part of my problem.
A word of warning - don't take your dose of colostrum before bedtime as it keeps you awake.Love and Light, Deotima.
Interesting that colostrum before bedtime HELPS you to sleep.I might try a third dose in the evening and see what results I get. I don't think one can overdose on it. The only constraints are cost really. Do you take it, with warm water on an empty stomach? Love and light, Deotima.
Yes, on empty stomach before lunch (maybe not totally on an empty stomach before a couple hours after eating still) and at bedtime with room temp water. I think we cannot overdose on it, bodybuilders take as much as 60 grams to grow muscles!
Thank you for your consern, however I consider that I have a balanced healthy diet with little fat and meat, no Sugar yeast or dairy [apart from the colostrum and lactoferrin], Genetically-Modified or pesticides.Lots of vegetables beans and pulses.
After 25 years of ME/CFS, colostrum and lactoferrin are the only things that are improving my health, and I have done many different protocols and therapys.
I will however do a Ph test.
Many thanks, Deotima.
Well true Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome (the neuro immune disease, not being chronically tired) is a serious disease that appears now to be caused by a retrovirus, like AIDS is. That's not to be taken lightly and eating healthy alone won't get you anywhere with this, no one was cure of AIDS by eating healthy, the only natural cure that seems effective for AIDS is the Beck protocol.
I do have a really healthy diet too and it doesn't do anything to CFS.
The Beck protocol would perhaps help to heal Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome but I think our detox pathway are too messed up to tolerate the huge die-off from it.
Lactoferrin is a potent inhibitor of virus replication, even proven to work on HIV to some degree, on herpes family viruses and probably effective on XMRV too (to potential bad guy in our case). Colostrum appears to be the best course of action if you are looking at natural therapies for CFS, the rest just don't work, I tried so many, it's gentler than Beck, might take several months to work but is still quite potent.
Yes, I have heard that MS can be helped by a specific diet.I have oftain wondered if fungal infection was a factor in both MS and MND. But I do not believe that the same is true for ME/CFS caused by virus, apart from the fact that one needs to eat healthily and perhaps go on an anti-candida diet if necessary. Deotima.
You might do well to check out the reasons WHY certain dietary changes can help with fungus/candida, parasites, bacteria and viruses???
It has to do with whether one is selectively making oneself a good or bad host for these organisms.
Same is true for the many beneficial micro-organisms we need to get and stay healthy.
Best bet for health is to make ourselves as friendly an environment as we can for the beneficial ones, as unfiendly as we can for the harmful ones.
If a condition is caused or aggravated by micro-organisms, building one's alkaline reserves may solve it quickly, inexpensively, and without risking dangerous side effects of treatments based on a kill/attack mentality.
Check out the many successes in this regard in the Ask Moreless forum archives.
I agree with all of this, that makes perfect sense BUT...
In the case of CFS, things seem to turn out it's cause by a retrovirus, the body is mostly clueless on the way to keep those viruses at bay. This one (XMRV) doesn't even seem to generate a immune response in many carriers, the system don't even know it's an invader (it's different than VIH, who keeps mutating continuously, the reason why it can't be controlled naturally.) So you might create an hostile environment for them to reproduce with an alkaline diet, but harm is done, the retrovirus is now part of some of your cells and those cells might live 10 years, a lifetime or 6 months depending on the type of cells (immune system cells live way shorter than a heart cell for example).
Retroviruses are serious bugs, they need to be attacked directly. I have no idea if Colostrum can help destroy XMRV infected cells, though I'm quit sure lactoferrin can inhibit its replication like it is proven it does (partially) for HIV-1&2 and herpes. I think the benefits come from providing many immune system elements that give resources to the immunocompromised body to fight opportunistic infections.
I really think the immune system can't fight Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome alone unfortunatly, so few recover totally from CFS, it can hit you in the face 5 or 10 years after remission (if you are lucky enough to recover once..!)
A young woman has died from ME/CFS in Brighton England this year. It is the first time that the cause of death has been listed on the Death Certificate as ME.
Most people make a recovery to some extent. Deotima.
I think the current evidence of an XMRV virus being the cause of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome is almost non-existent. The XMRV research has not been replicated, and I think the credibility of the researcher who "discovered" it is in question.
This is not to say that the cause of Chronic-Fatigue-Syndrome won't ultimately be shown to be a virus of some sort, but right now I don't personally believe it is.
Also, I want to comment on all this "alkaline the body" talk which in my opinion is damaging many people. There are so many cons on the internet telling you things about candida loves acid etc., so you need to alkanize your body. this is complete made up stuff meant to extract some money from you for some supplement.
If you read the research on candida, which I have a strong belief is partially, if not totally, responsible for CFS, it loves alkaline environments. It hates acid. So this is exactly the opposite of what you are being told. You know what else, if you think you are eating a "good" diet because you eat beans and high fiber food...guess what? Candida loves to feast on those things too.
So my own path to healing has been to eliminate\limit carbs of almost any sort for extended periods. Very very hard to do by the way. Breakfast: egg beaters with butter. Lunch: half cup white rice, broccoli, chicken more butter. Dinner: chicken and more broccoli or some other low fiber vegetable.
This has been my diet for years with moderate variation. Now I can function at some reasonable level. I also take some supplements like Vitamin D, Rhodiola has helped...
Please take care of yourself and listen to your body. Get outside and get some sun. Read the real research and don't listen to random unknown and unqualified people on the internet, including me...instead read the research papers.
