I've been suffering from the symptoms of leaky gut for awhile without realizing it. I knew I had candida and started treating it about 5 weeks ago with the whole diet / supplements and all that, but I was wondering why the alternating bouts of diarrhea / constipation, the indigestion, the gas, and the bloating weren't going away. Well, since supplementing with Colostrum since 3 days ago and a GI Repair pill with L-Glutamine in it since Sunday, I've been doing a lot better and my bowel movements are starting to normalize (!!!). I haven't had diarrhea, and my constipation has been subsiding over the past few days. I've been taking these two things 3x daily on an empty stomach. I also did a 3 day juice fast Thurs-Sat. before supplementing, my first juice fast. Since then I've put nuts and veggies back in the diet, and yogurt + kefir today though I had a very small amount of gas (but no bloating) when eating a lot more organic plain yogurt then I should have a little earlier. Just wanted to let you guys know, if you have candida it's probably best to add these two supps into your regime...
Oh my, this post sounds EXACTLY like the routine I did for Leaky Gut! And I got the same results in just days, maybe 6-7 days. I also did the vegetable/fruit fast for a few days and I was also able to eat normal yogurt afterwards without a problem.
Congratulations! The combination is a miracle. (I also include Shark Liver Oil, another supplement very beneficial in healing)
I am taking l-glutamine to repair the walls of the intestine. So what does colustrum do. BTW it is working well. I have multiple chemical senstivites...its not as bad as before. So this tuff is helping the immune system but I'm not cured yet.
Heres a little excerpt on Colostrum:
"Colostrum supports those who have autoimmune diseases in several ways. First by healing the intestinal lining, second by reducing inflammation, and third, by slowing an overactive immune system response. People with autoimmune diseases are among the first to notice the benefits of colostrum.
Colostrum contains many substances that play a critical role in the healing of leaky gut syndrome. Its many beneficial factors focus their efforts in this area of the body where an overwhelming majority of diseases and infections gain entrance. One of the first things colostrum does is repair damaged tissue and seal the mucus layer of the intestines, making it impermeable to viruses, bacteria, fungi, toxins and parasites. Some of the growth factors contained in colostrum have an anti-inflammatory effect which is a big factor in the initial healing of leaky gut syndrome.
Without a leaky gut many other conditions can simultaneously and positively be affected. This in turn greatly reduces the toxic load on the body and increases nutrient uptake. As this intestinal lining is healed, food allergies are reduced and often disappear entirely. The immune response is enhanced and the first line of defense in the bowel is returned back to a more normal function. The enhanced nutrient uptake supports other vital tissues and organs. This is why organ function improves and energy levels rise.
Because the proper function of the gastrointestinal track is so vitally important to so many processes in the body, the healing of leaky gut syndrome in monumental. Colostrum is highly recognized for its effects in this area."
Hi, thanks very much for your post. I heard Seacure is also another great alternative to L-glutamine for repairing the bowel walls and leaky gut.
I had a couple questions. How much does each of these supplements cost and how long do they last you? Also, how long are you supposed to take them for?? Or do you have to take them until your candida is gone?
I've heard it recommended to take colostrum and L-Glutamine for up to two months to ensure that the problem has been healed adequetely. It is very important that they be taken on empty stomachs, by the way. After your symptoms have disappeared, that's probably the best way to judge when to stop taking these supplements. It's also important to be getting plenty of probiotics after the gut is healing, as the friendly bacteria ensures that the gut doesn't become leaky again. Anyways I got both supplements for 12-15 dollars each and they should last me a month, which is probably a pretty good timeframe to have this gut problem healed COMPLETELY with the proper diet (lots of veggies + chlorophyll) and lifestyle (exercise + good rest).
Thanks very much for the response. It seems one should be on these two products to constantly heal the gut if it's always under attack by parasites/candida/etc. And that one should continuously take them until they get rid of those problems, too.
For bodybuilding you need to be able to get as much nutrition from the foods you eat as possible. Bodybuilders have leakygut also. While you have leakygut you will find muscle mass weight gain difficult and recovery times longer. Depends on your overall health.
Still you would need a complete source of protein on top of that to get good gains. People who are vegetarians tend to be leaner. Unless they eat a lot of lentils, beans, seeds and nuts and combine protein sources to make sure they get a complete protein in every meal. Whey is also a good source of protein. A lot of people make a fruit smoothie using the protein powder. That's a lot healthier than just mixing with water or milk. By the way if you by plain yogurt you will see some semiclear liquid -- that's whey. Sally Fallon book (Nourishing Traditions) calls for this a lot in her recipies.
Just added both of these to my regimine. I carry around so many antihistamines, anxiety meds, digestive aids and leaky gut pills that I look like a walking pharmacy! I really hope this works. For two months I've had severe hives. Face swelling kind of hives. Gas (the kind that wakes you up at night from rolling gut discomfort), diarrhea (sometimes instantly after eating dairy, fat or wheat), you name it. The hives were new and terrifying. I'm adding these two into my regimine and I am hoping for a miracle.
